Chapter 7: Seven
CHAPTER SEVEN
Isabella's POV
"Why would you change your mind so quickly? Your friends will be mad at you for doing that." I turned to attack Sienna when she parked right behind my car, getting down and letting out a deep breath. "You could have simply said you wanted to come to my cottage."
"I hate to say that directly. I prefer to do it this way." She said and chuckled softly, heading for the door. "And, mind you, it's not the party you think of. It's a party between people who are just like me."
"Just like you? Beautiful and red haired?" I asked, searching for the little key which I placed in my bag.
"No one will appreciate a party whose focus is to gather red haired women." She replied to me and I saw the key. I quickly unlocked the door and we walked inside.
"What is the party about? You legit promised to take me to the boutique first."
"Yes. We were meant to wear a uniform but I guess you don't grasp the ideas. Like I said, I should be going alone to the party but you wanted to come."
"Why do my friends sound creepy? Tell me who you are. Come on I don't find it hard to expose myself." I said but she sighed and laughed while she took her seat.
"I'm a dragon and it's a party meany to worship our dragon lord." She said, trying to form a deep voice but it seemed too funny that I laughed beyond control. I reached for the soda and handed it over to her in a plate. She accepted it warmly and consumed it like though she has no doubts that it could have been poisoned.
"Where are you from and why did you come to Willow Creek? It's a town and there's a more lovely city out there." I asked as soon as she was done eating.
"Well, I had a family. I was chased away because I viewed life in a different way. I was left with nothing to hold onto, but luckily for me, I found a job here and my bank account grew fat within a couple of months. I've left the job now that I've found something better. And you?"
"Almost the same story, just that I didn't find any job since I arrived."
"Did you search for any?"
"Oh, you caught me there. I didn't. I need to survive if I really want to keep staying here. Are there any job vacancies? I doubt that."
"There will be a job vacancy in the coffee shop where I met you today. That should be tomorrow. Compose a CV and let me know when you're done..." She said and her gaze rolled towards the beautiful poetry that I penned down to a sheet of paper. She picked it up and read it.
"Your stepmom must be really cruel to have done that to you." She said. I didn't even know that it was the personal one that she was reading. I seized it from her quickly and tore it into pieces.
"Quite sad. My parents are dead. Yours are alive but irresponsible. Who's more grieved?"
"This should be fun, and not an avenue to dig up some unwanted past. Want some champagne?"
"Did I reject the soda?" She smirked and I quickly went to grab bottles of champagne and we popped it while enjoying our time together.
"According to what I've noticed about you, I think you're the curious one and you're someone who will agree to going to the woods with a friend?" She chimed in.
"The woods is too dangerous. It's meant for werewolves as I've read in books. Do those things even exist?"
"You really don't believe. They exist, but we can stay in the safer part of the woods. It can help you develop more ideas for your books, you know? Nature."
"Sure. But we might not make it out of the woods."
"I visit the woods every day. Since I've been in this cottage, I've never missed a day. I go there to unwind and have some nice time with myself." She said. "If you'd like to do the same, you can come along with me tomorrow. Don't worry, I don't have friends just like you, and it will be the two of us only."
"Since it's safe, I don't see any reasons why I should be —" I was still responding to her when we heard that soft knock on the door. My eyes rolled towards hers and she nervously smirked. She got up and went to open the door.
She almost tripped when she saw the person standing outside. Fear crept into my mind as I rose to my feet as well and rushed to check. It was Noah. Why was she afraid?
"You scared the hell out of me. Why do you have such cold gaze?" Sienna confidently asked Noah.
"I'm sorry, friend. May I come in? It's cold outside."
Sienna turned to look at me and I nodded my head. "I don't have to say that."
"Please, may I come in?" He asked once again, in a finer voice. "I am bored and I want to read some of your books. I figured that out late."
"Come in." I said and then he stepped in. He was too polite to be waiting for my response before actually coming in.
"I'm sorry for disrupting your chat but I was wondering if we could have a word together, Isabella?" He raised a brow at me and I quickly moved him to another set of seats in the cottage while Sienna waited for me on the bed.
"Do you want some food? You seem hungry. I have pizza for you if you don't want the same baked soda. I made the pizza and added items that made it more delicious. Like garlics and the likes." I said with a light-hearted tone but he scoffed and his voice was a little bit clearer now
"I am not hungry. I am rather thirsty." He said and smiled awkwardly. I was almost crept out but I held my stance.
"I can get you some water. Sure." I said, leaving but he pulled my hands back up and asked me to stay back.
"I don't need water to quench my thirst." He said, and my face was filled with confusion. What was he talking about? He quickly covered his face with his hat before removing it again.
"I need to talk to you to quench my thirst." He quickly covered up his unclear words. "I—I'm sorry for coming off too abruptly, but is that even..."
"No, it's fine. This is me. Talk to me." I replied to him.
"My brother will be back to my place tomorrow, and he will want to see my friend. We made a deal and I will pay with my life if the deal isn't fulfilled on my own end." He said and chuckled when he said it. "I'm joking. Sorry. But he will like to see my new friend."
"Your brother must be a funny one. Who's the new friend? Sienna? I will call her to meet you tomorrow if she's the one you're talking about."
He lowered his eyes and sighed. "Why did you think I wasn't referring to you?"
"Me?"
He scoffed. "Yes, I'm sorry."
"No, no, it's totally fine. How exciting it is to be invited by a stranger to see his brother" I said and sighed reluctantly.
"I sense sarcasm in your tone but you can come with your friend if you're scared." He said and stood up to go. "May I have one of your books to read overnight?"
"Actually, it's just a copy that I have but sure, return it to me tomorrow." I said but Sienna was reading the book already.
He scoffed. "It's no problem. I will meet you tomorrow. Thank you for the warm welcome." He said and patted my shoulders. I felt a wave of electricity pass through me but I held my emotions back and chuckled as I watched him leave. The door slammed shut after him and sienna sighed anxiously.
"I never knew you two started dating." She started, but I quickly countered her, heading for the bed.
