Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Brother, are you okay?
'My Xiao Wu, my dancing spirit… I—!'
After hearing and seeing everything, Tang Chuan collapsed to his knees, his dark eyes bloodshot and swelling with emotion.
"Brother, are you okay?"
Seeing his elder brother kneeling on the ground, Tang San quickly reached out to help him up.
"Xiao San, leave me alone! I need to be by myself!"
Tang Chuan roared in fury, shoving Tang San away. His outburst drew the attention of nearby students.
"Brother, get up!" Tang San pleaded, growing anxious. Why was his brother acting so unreasonably now?
"Get out, Xiao San! I need peace!" Tang Chuan snapped, his temper flaring at Tang San's persistence.
"No! I mean—you're blocking the door! We can't get through!"
Blurted out in panic, Tang San's words plunged the scene into silence.
Tang Chuan froze, as if doused with cold water. The rage boiling inside him dissipated instantly—replaced by the stark realization that he was, in fact, obstructing the doorway.
"Hey, Tang Chuan! Even if you're the boss, you can't block the exit! And there's no girl named 'Dancing Spirit' at our school!"
The students, long resentful of Tang Chuan's arrogance, finally voiced their frustration.
'If you want to sulk, go somewhere else! Why block our way? Don't we deserve lunch?'
Tensions had been simmering under the surface. For a while now, the working-class students had grown weary of Tang Chuan's domineering behavior.
"You—! Ugh—!"
Seeing his brother's mood darken further, Tang San hastily clamped a hand over Tang Chuan's mouth and dragged him aside.
He knew better than anyone how volatile his brother could be—how he often bullied these very students.
If things escalated, neither of them would come out unscathed.
"Tang San, we all know you two are strong. We've even covered your academy tasks for you. You're decent, but your brother? He is unreasonable!"
Wang Sheng sighed helplessly. At worst, he'd drop out. With his talent, becoming a Soul Master—or even a Soul Grandmaster—was his limit.
He'd been bullied before, forced to serve others, but never had he encountered someone as tyrannical as Tang Chuan—a boss who lashed out at his own allies!
"Wang Sheng, you—!"
Tang Chuan's fury reignited at the audacity of this "little Wang Sheng" daring to challenge him. But Tang San moved swiftly, restraining his brother's limbs and muffling his protests.
Only after the crowd dispersed did Tang San finally release him.
"Tang San! What was that?! We're brothers!" Tang Chuan glared, eyes burning with betrayal.
"Brother, you've changed. You weren't like this back in Holy Soul Village." Tang San sighed.
He'd once suspected Tang Chuan had deliberately let him absorb the 99-year-old Lone Bamboo Spirit Ring. But after witnessing his brother absorb a century-old Evergreen Spirit Ring himself, he realized he'd misjudged him.
At these words, Tang Chuan's eyes welled with crimson tears. The reincarnation of a God King—reduced to weeping in frustration.
"Xiao San, you don't understand…"
'You don't understand anything!'
Though his anger cooled, Tang Chuan's body still trembled with helpless rage.
Someone had stolen his ex-wife right before his eyes.
Someone had taken his current wife from him.
And worst of all—it was the same person!
He'd died and returned to the beginning just to reunite with Xiao Wu—only to watch her snatched away at his weakest moment!
"Brother Chuan, you don't mean…"
Studying his brother's grief-stricken face, Tang San ventured a bold guess.
"You… have feelings for Teacher Xiao Wu, don't you?"
The moment the words left his mouth, Tang Chuan's composure shattered.
"AHHHHH—! WHY?! WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ME?! I DID EVERYTHING FOR HER, AND SHE—!"
"I—! NO!!!!!"
His roar of anguish split the air, a raw refusal to accept fate.
BOOM—! (Thunder)
'Rumble…'
'Rumble…'
'Rumble…'
The heavens answered. Dark clouds gathered, and torrential rain poured down, as if to cleanse his despair.
Tang Chuan wept until, exhausted, he collapsed in the storm. Tang San hauled him back like a lifeless doll.
…
Meanwhile, in the Fu Ye villa…
Xiao Wu and Wu Ling lounged on a plush sofa, watching the rain through the window while Fu Ye busied himself in the kitchen.
"Teacher, does Tang Chuan have eye inflammation? His eyes were so bloodshot—it was scary!"
Wu Ling shuddered, recalling Tang Chuan's frenzied glare. She was grateful her teacher and brother Fu Ye had taken her in. Who knew what might've happened in a boys' dormitory?
"Your teacher wouldn't know either. Ask him yourself later."
Xiao Wu hugged her tiny disciple closer. At six years old, Wu Ling was adorably petite!
"Ask teacher? He's gentle, but his aura feels… dangerous."
Wu Ling glanced warily at Fu Ye in the kitchen. Handsome as he was, an undercurrent of menace lingered around him.
Xiao Wu giggled. "Don't worry. Once you get used to him, you'll see how kind he is."
Memories surfaced of her time as his "White Rabbit cushion" sixteen years ago. She'd once tried ambushing him—only to freeze under his terrifying presence.
But now? She'd evolved from pet to future wife, determined to win his heart!
"Alright, I'll ask teacher later." Wu Ling nodded. Then, cheekily: "Teacher, you're so pretty! Teacher Fu is lucky to have you."
Xiao Wu blinked. "Well, of course! And you'll grow into a beauty too!"
"Hehe, but no one's prettier than teacher! To me, you're the most beautiful!"
In the kitchen, Fu Ye smiled faintly at their chatter.
As for why Tang Chuan had knelt there, eyes blazing with rage?
He truly had no idea.
