Dragon Ball: My Earthly Rebirth

Chapter 2: Chapter 2 - The Legend of the Dragon Balls

Although she knew John was pretending, Bulma also realized her previous words were indeed a bit inappropriate, so she apologized with a smile: "I'm sorry, I didn't expect you to be so sensitive despite looking ordinary."

"Puh!" This time John really almost coughed up blood. Bulma's mouth was truly merciless.

Seeing that John seemed genuinely upset this time, Bulma quickly said, "Alright, alright, I was just joking with you earlier. I didn't mean it. I apologize, very sincerely."

"Fine, I accept." What else could John do? Could he not accept Bulma's apology? Especially since he had other plans.

After exchanging these jokes, the distance between John and Bulma instantly shortened, and soon they were chatting like friends.

Under John's intentional guidance, they began discussing their future dreams.

Bulma, with a dreamy expression, said, "My future dream is to marry the most handsome man in the world, someone like Yuudai Matsumura."

Yuudai Matsumura was a handsome male celebrity in this Dragon Ball world, attracting countless young girls' and women's admiration.

Probably imagining herself marrying Yuudai Matsumura, Bulma's eyes turned into pink hearts, her hands cupping her cheeks, her entire face turning pink.

John watched Bulma speechlessly, unable to believe that just imagining something could make someone this lovesick.

John patted Bulma's shoulder, trying to bring her back from her fantasy, but it was useless until she finished daydreaming through the entire process and finally came back to reality.

For Bulma, daydreaming was already her normal state. She didn't mind John's current expression at all and asked him, "John, what about you? What's your dream?"

John thought for a moment and said, "I guess I want to become a powerful martial artist."

"A martial artist?" Although Bulma didn't quite understand why someone would make this their dream, she believed every dream deserved encouragement.

So Bulma very seriously told John, "John, I believe in you. You'll definitely become a great martial artist in the future."

However, unexpectedly, her encouragement didn't bring happiness to John. Instead, he sighed, his tone full of frustration.

Bulma couldn't help but ask, "John, what's wrong?"

John said, "Bulma, you know, martial arts depends on talent. Some people are born martial arts geniuses - they practice a little and become incredibly powerful."

"But others, no matter how much they train, make very little progress and can only become gym fitness instructors."

"And I'm that kind of person, with average talent. You might think I look capable, but actually, my body has accumulated serious internal injuries from training. This is already my body's limit."

John's tone was indescribably sad, and combined with his voice's emotional impact, Bulma couldn't help but shed tears for his situation.

Bulma, with tears in her eyes, told John, "John, don't worry. When I get back, I'll create a healing device for you. Trust me, I'll definitely help heal your body."

John, seeing that the moment was right, decided it was time to mention the Dragon Balls. He then said, "Even if my injuries are healed, what's the point? My body's potential is already maxed out. Even if I'm healed, I'll just end up with another set of injuries later."

"Ah, if only I could collect all the Dragon Balls, then I could have a body with extraordinary talent."

John spoke while waving his arms, adding to his emotional impact.

Bulma was indeed attracted by the "Dragon Balls" in John's words and couldn't help but ask, "Dragon Balls? What are those? Can they really make your body naturally talented?"

"The Dragon Balls are very magical spheres, like glass. There are seven in total, and each Dragon Ball has stars inside, ranging from one star to seven stars."

"If you collect all seven Dragon Balls, you can summon the Dragon God, and then make a wish. The Dragon God can grant any wish we make."

"Our current king became the ruler of the entire world after collecting the Dragon Balls and making a wish to the Dragon God."

John passionately told Bulma the story of the Dragon Balls. Bulma listened with stars in her eyes, imagining herself collecting the Dragon Balls and having the Dragon God give her a handsome boyfriend.

But suddenly she thought of John. He also had a wish, and the Dragon God could only grant one wish, so who would get the wish?

John, of course, didn't know what Bulma was thinking. He continued his story, saying, "After a wish is granted, the Dragon Balls scatter across the world, turning to stone. After one year, they become Dragon Balls again, and then they can be collected and used for another wish."

Hearing this, Bulma finally made up her mind to help John fulfill his wish. She could make her own wish to the Dragon God a year later.

Having made her decision, Bulma raised her face and said seriously to John, "John, I've made up my mind. This summer vacation, let's collect the Dragon Balls together."

Looking at Bulma's serious expression, John suddenly felt that manipulating a young girl like this might be too unethical. Unavoidably, John quickly recited "Amitabha" several times in his heart.

Then, with a righteous face, he said to Bulma, "Alright, let's collect the Dragon Balls together during summer vacation."

After their discussion, they continued walking toward Bulma's home.

As they walked, Bulma asked, "By the way, John, do you know where the Dragon Balls are?"

John shook his head and said, "I don't know. Do you?"

Bulma also shook her head and said, "I don't know either."

They fell silent...

After a few minutes of silence, Bulma couldn't help but sigh and say, "Ah, if only we had one Dragon Ball, then I could use it to create a Dragon Radar. That way, we could find the Dragon Balls quickly."

"But now we have nothing. How can we find the Dragon Balls?"

Seeing the young girl's troubled expression, John comforted her, "Don't worry, what's meant to be will be. Let's trust in God's will. I believe God won't abandon his people."

John had forgotten how Bulma had created the Dragon Radar in the original story. In his previous life, when Bulma first appeared, she already had both the Dragon Radar and a Dragon Ball.

Although Bulma couldn't create the Dragon Radar right now, John believed that as long as he didn't drastically change the plot, Bulma would definitely be able to create the Dragon Radar just like in the original story.
