Chapter 357 His Majesty the King's Generosity
Bright City, Feis Royal Palace.
Lis sat leisurely in the dedicated reception room, slowly savoring the exquisite pastries and coffee prepared by the palace maids.
Mr. Stephens favored the sweeter cookies, while Lis also enjoyed the soft, sweet cakes.
Casually glancing at the pale skin revealed beneath the maids' skirts, Lis critically examined them and then shook his head.
Perhaps because of spending too much time with Risa lately, Lis found that the restlessness in his heart was increasing...
"Hey!"
Lis mocked himself in a low voice, this was not the right place to think about these things.
Inside the Royal Palace it was still the same—luxurious and majestic, yet not flaunting excessive golden decorations like the Boditch Royal Palace. Whether it was the courteous servants or the somber decor, everything conveyed a sense of gravitas and refinement.
This was the gap between the Boditch Kingdom and the Feis Kingdom.
Lis had to admit that King Morton was much stronger than King John Bertic.
So even with the matter of Prince Yatean, Lis still held a certain respect for this king.
Moreover, this time seeking an audience with King Morton, to be strict, Lis had something to request as well.
Lis didn't have to wait long before he heard the sound of the door being pushed open from the outside.
Standing up, Lis saw Morton Fis with his slightly stooped body, whose face still appeared resolute, with a warm smile on it.
But Lis felt that His Majesty looked somewhat older than the last time they met.
And the one following behind King Morton was still that Duke Fusis Hade.
Lis placed his right hand over his chest and gave the king a standard Noble's greeting.
"It's an honor to see you, Lord Morton."
King Morton waved his hand and said affably,
"I didn't expect our outstanding Marquis Kane to have already returned to Bright City."
King Morton walked over and sat down on the central sofa, his face breaking into a smile, Experience new stories on My Virtual Library Empire
"Bevis has told me about the things you've done in the Boditch Kingdom. I had no idea our Lis was so exceptional!"
"Marquis Kane indeed has done many things beyond our imagination, contributing greatly to the Kingdom."
Duke Hade spoke meticulously, his expression the most solemn among those present.
"It's just what I should do."
Lis replied with a smile, modestly.
"Haha, these are no small feats."
King Morton lightly patted the armrest of the sofa, laughing.
"Whether it's the Dillon Kingdom or in the Boditch Kingdom, everything you've done has surprised me."
"You truly are the disciple of Judgement Flame. I'm becoming more and more interested in your future."
"I believe you can become as powerful as your teacher!"
King Morton was unabashed in his praise for Lis, giving a sense of refreshing warmth.
In fact, King Morton was indeed very pleased.
Before declaring and launching the war against the Boditch Kingdom, he had pondered over it many times.
Whether it was successfully occupying the Boditch Kingdom or if the offensive was stymied, or even if faced with a pincer attack from both Boditch and Dillon Kingdoms, he had thought about methods of response.
No matter how the future would develop, he was prepared with measures and had readied himself for the possibility of failure.
There was no help for it; this was the responsibility he shouldered. He wanted to leave Taya a better Feis Kingdom.
He also wanted to resolve all domestic conflicts and crises as much as possible while he was still healthy.
Even though it seemed somewhat wishful thinking, the old king did indeed think this way.
But later on, Morton Fis found that a lot of his preparation had been for naught, as things had developed beyond his expectation.
Whether it was Count Sauron, who had been secretly positioned in the north of the Kingdom long ago, or the reserve forces prepared to be deployed to the Boditch Kingdom, none had been put to use in the end.
The Dillon Kingdom had its hands full; the Demon's Gate at Ice Peak City had nearly drained most of their strength. Now, they could only curl up and lick their wounds slowly regaining their power.
And the Boditch Kingdom, at that time, had already fallen to the enemy, hardly possessing much resistance.
Even their king had been killed by their foes.
And the person who had accomplished these feats was the handsome young man sitting in front of him with a smile.
King Morton looked at Lis, the more he looked, the more satisfied he became.
Truth be told, King Morton had never imagined such a favorable situation present before him, and it truly delighted him.
"You haven't been back for long, have you, Lis?"
King Morton said with a smile, sipping slightly from his tea.
"I returned just a few days ago and first went to visit my teacher."
Lis nodded, taking out a finely crafted wooden box from his storage ring.
"This is a gift I've brought for Your Majesty."
"Oh?"
King Morton looked curiously at the wooden box in Lis's hand, roughly the size of a human head.
"Our Marquis Kane wouldn't bring the severed head of the King of Boditch, would he?"
King Morton sat up slightly, jesting with Lis.
He naturally knew that King John of Boditch had been killed by the young man before him.
"Of course not."
Lis said with a smile, gently opening the lid of the wooden box.
Those present all noticed that the box was lined with dark red felt, and resting on it was a dazzling golden crown.
The crown, forged out of pure gold, was hollow in the middle, surrounded by filigree gold wire and enameled decorations. It was studded with tiny diamonds that twinkled like stars, complementing the large central gemstone and three smaller ones on the sides, which glittered radiantly with six-pointed starlight in the sunlight.
