Chapter 18: Subordinates Can’t Smack Their Boss’s Lips
Chapter 18: Subordinates Can’t Smack Their Boss’s Lips
“How did it go? Did you steal anything?”
After parting ways with the Little Princess, the young man immediately turned a corner to ask his companion if they managed to snag something valuable from that man.
“Sigh, don’t even mention it. When I saw those two come to Pield City to shop, I thought they’d have money, but I only ended up grabbing these measly things.”
With a long face, the companion handed over the spoils. From Yake, he only managed to pocket a few Copper Coins and that blue Token.
“What’s this thing? It looks like it might be worth something.”
The young man picked up the Token and examined it closely.
“I have no idea what it is, but the Boss should know, right? Should we head back and ask the Boss?”
As thieves operating in Bield City, going solo could easily get them caught by the local law enforcement. To survive in this city, thieves had to band together to fend off the authorities.
“Okay, let’s go back and ask the Boss. Let’s move.”
The young man didn’t hesitate, and together with his companion, they headed back to the Headquarters. Before long, they left the glittering downtown and arrived at a dilapidated area. This was the territory of the thieves.
“Boss, we stole something strange today. Can you take a look at it?”
They approached a relatively intact house, pushed the door open, and walked in.
“Hmm? What did you steal? Let me see.”
The Boss, sitting at the table smoking, turned around and gestured for them to hand over the Token for inspection.
“Here it is. We don’t know what it is, but it looks pretty well-made, so it must be valuable. Any idea how much it’s worth?”
The young man handed the Token over to the Thief Boss, who held it carefully in his palm for a closer inspection.
“If I remember correctly, this Token is given by the City Lord to guests. Where did you steal this from? You shouldn’t be taking things like this.”
The Boss confirmed that the Token was indeed a gift for guests from the City Lord. Where did these two rascals get such a precious item?
“We got it from two outsiders on the street. Is it really that important?”
“Important? It’s beyond important! With that Token, you could get anything you want in Bield City without breaking a sweat!”
“Whoa, that’s insane! Looks like we really hit the jackpot then.”
After hearing the Boss explain the Token’s value and function, the young man and his companion exchanged delighted grins. With that Token, getting what they wanted would be a piece of cake!
However, while they were celebrating, the Boss was anything but happy.
After all, this was a Token meant for the City Lord’s guests, which meant that the guest likely had either a strong entourage or some serious skills themselves. These two fools were inviting trouble by stealing something so valuable…
“Ah!”
Just as the Boss contemplated how to deal with the Token, a chorus of screams erupted from outside.
“What’s going on? You two, get out there and take a look!”
“Yes, sir!”
The companion rushed outside for a peek and quickly returned, panic written all over their face.
“Boss, it seems like someone is attacking our guys outside! What do we do?”
“What? Someone dares to invade our territory? Do they want to die? How many of them are there? What do they look like?”
The Boss was alarmed but couldn’t show it. He immediately inquired about the situation.
“There are two of them. One is a blonde little girl, and the other is a black-haired man.”
“Wait, isn’t that the pair we stole the Token from? How did they find us so quickly?”
The young man panicked as well, realizing they had thought they were scoring big but now the other side had come searching for vengeance.
“Calm down, let me handle them. I’ll show them that two intruders are no match for me.”
The Boss grabbed his two axes and charged out. As the leader of the thieves, he was somewhat strong when it came to fighting. He had previously driven off many intruders with his strength.
But unfortunately for him, he didn’t know he was about to encounter some very tough opponents.
“Tell me where your Headquarters is! Otherwise, I won’t hesitate to give you a close-up view of your own leg bones.”
Aierjisi pointed her Light Sword at the knee of an injured thief. With a flick, she could easily separate bone from flesh.
“No one’s gonna tell a scum like you… ah!”
Before the thief could finish his sentence, the Little Princess stuck the sword into his leg and slowly sliced off a chunk of his flesh.
“Don’t worry, you can choose to remain silent. I have plenty of time to torture you. Let’s see if you can last the whole way, or if you’ll just crack under the pain.”
Aierjisi smiled as she continued to cut into the thief’s leg.
“I’ll tell… I’ll tell…”
Just from a bit of torment from the Little Princess, the thief couldn’t hold out any longer and divulged the location and route to the Headquarters.
“You better make sure you’re not lying, or next time, you’ll be meeting your heart, not your leg bones.”
Before entering the inner headquarters, the Little Princess didn’t forget to leave a parting threat.
“Rest assured, I’m telling the truth. I swear I’m telling the truth!”
The thief was terrorized by the Little Princess’s cruel methods. He was just a small-time thief trying to survive; he couldn’t withstand such torture and intimidation.
“Hmph, I hope so. Yake, let’s go see if those two little brats are still at the Headquarters.”
“Sure, but Aier, don’t you think you went a bit overboard? This guy is just a thief; you really didn’t have to be that brutal.”
Seeing the thief with a large chunk of flesh cut out, bleeding uncontrollably, Yake felt a pang of sympathy. This Little Princess was unbelievably harsh.
“Huh? Why should I feel pity for a filthy rat from the sewers? Being merciful to the enemy is being cruel to yourself. You’d better remember that.”
Aierjisi was the type to show no mercy to enemies. Her views were naturally different from those of Yake, who had always lived in human society.
“But this guy has nothing to do with those who stole from us. You really didn’t need to go this hard on him.”
Yake still couldn’t bear to see how unfeeling the Little Princess was. This apparently adorable 11-year-old girl transformed into a cruel and ruthless Blood Clan Queen in battle, which genuinely frightened him.
“Eh. Not killing that guy is already very merciful of me. Also, you’re just my servant, so don’t give me any opinions! Servants can’t smack their masters’ lips!”
“Yes…”
Yake had no choice but to endure. As a servant, he had to obey his master. But seeing the Little Princess act so heartlessly made him genuinely uncomfortable.
