Chapter 64: Yake’s Unfortunate Fumble
Chapter 64: Yake’s Unfortunate Fumble
“So that’s how it works! Only those living in extreme cold could’ve thought of this.”
Listening to the owner’s explanation about the Golden Smile, Yake suddenly got it. So that’s the reason!
“I’m glad it makes you happy! I wonder if our esteemed guest enjoys the Golden Smile?”
“Like it? Oh, I absolutely adore it! How could anyone dislike a food that makes you smile? Right, Aier?”
Yake turned to Aierjisi, wanting her support.
“Yes! I love this Golden Smile very much.”
Aierjisi instantly understood the message in Yake’s gaze and chimed in to praise the dish.
“Oh really? As long as you two are happy, this dish has its value! I hope you can enjoy it with as much joy as the Golden Smile brings!”
With their enthusiastic confirmation, the store owner beamed with happiness.
“Rest assured, I’ll enjoy this food with a smile!”
“Exactly! Eating something that smiles would obviously taste divine! Shouldn’t we head out soon, Yake? Don’t we have other business to attend to?”
Aierjisi shot Yake a knowing look, urging him to leave the place together.
“Ah, right, right! We have other things to do today, so let’s not linger here. Wish you prosperity, owner!”
“Thank you!”
Dragged along by Aierjisi, Yake was reluctantly pulled out of the store.
“What’s the rush, Aier? We could’ve enjoyed more of these Golden Smiles before leaving, right? We don’t have anything urgent today.”
“Don’t you find sitting there eating awkward? Plus, it’s not like we have to eat here. Honestly, I can’t stand that awkward atmosphere. With no real topics, it turns into forced small talk.”
Yake had no idea how he ended up chatting with the owner, but Aierjisi couldn’t take the cringe.
“Awkward? I didn’t think so! I found chatting with the owner quite enjoyable!”
“You find it enjoyable? I find it terribly awkward.”
With no time to waste, Aierjisi laid it out straightforwardly. She simply couldn’t handle their conversation’s cringey vibe, so she pulled him out.
“Why do you seem so sensitive to the atmosphere around you?”
Yake wasn’t as perceptive as Aierjisi. Or rather, he was completely oblivious. The atmosphere might have turned incredibly stiff, yet he continued chatting comfortably.
“I think you’re the one who’s too slow to pick up on things! It was awkward, yet you kept talking with the owner. I just don’t get it.”
Aierjisi could only shake her head. She had no idea how to correct this flaw in her servant.
“Alright, alright, maybe I’m a bit oblivious about the atmosphere. So what should we do next? We’re already out, where to sit for a bit? Should we head back to the Royal Palace or a bar?”
“What for? You want to drink? The Royal Palace is off-limits for us right now. What will we do there? We might as well keep wandering the streets; who knows, we might stumble upon something intriguing!”
Neither the Royal Palace nor a bar excited Aierjisi. She wasn’t like Weirafiya, who drank all the time. Back at the palace, there wasn’t anything to pass the time with.
【Ah, my computer, my phone. Why didn’t you come along with me…】
Aierjisi couldn’t help but look up at the sky, internally lamenting.
“Okay, okay! Let’s continue wandering the streets for a bit longer.”
Yake had no choice but to follow Aierjisi as they roamed the streets, searching for something that would catch the little princess’s eye.
“Aier, don’t you notice something different about me?”
While wandering, Yake asked the little princess if she noticed anything unusual about him.
“Uh? What’s different about you? Let me take a closer look.”
Aierjisi rested her chin on her hand, scrutinizing Yake, trying to figure out what had changed. Yet, she couldn’t spot anything different…
“I can’t see it. What’s actually different? Did you get a haircut or something? No way, you couldn’t have done that in three minutes! Did you buy new shoes? Nope, that’s not it. Did you get a new pair of socks?”
“None of that! Actually, I just bought this new weapon. Take a look.”
Yake proudly pulled out the dagger strapped to his leg and offered it to the little princess for inspection.
“I thought it was something substantial! Turns out it’s just a dagger. But is it pure gold? It looks pretty neat. How much did you spend on it?”
“Take a guess. I probably spent around this much.”
Yake held up one finger in a gesture.
“One gold coin?”
Aierjisi pondered for a moment, estimating the dagger’s worth to be about one gold coin. She wondered if she guessed right.
“No wonder you’re my little princess! You guessed it right away! This dagger cost me one gold coin. Pretty sweet deal, right?”
Yake proudly flaunted his golden dagger that he’d bought for a single gold coin. One coin for a golden dagger? He felt like he hit the jackpot!
“That’s alright. If you wanted, I could whip up twenty of these for you right now.”
Aierjisi handed the dagger back to Yake, completely baffled as to why this object, something she could easily make, was perceived as a treasure in Yake’s hands.
“Huh? You can make this too?”
Yake was stunned. How could this little princess do everything? Oh…now that he thought about it, she was supposed to be skilled at weapon-making.
“Of course! You shouldn’t forget, I’m a princess of the Blood Clan. A golden dagger is just a toy to me. If I wanted, I could make one anytime I pleased.”
“Why didn’t I think of that? If I remembered you could make these golden daggers, I wouldn’t have wasted my money!”
