Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Surrender or Die

Uchiha Fugaku's laughter echoed through the dimly lit hall, a sound that seemed utterly out of place in the tense atmosphere.

"Hahaha, this is truly ridiculous," Fugaku chuckled, his voice carrying an unsettling mix of amusement and scorn.

The elders sitting around the long wooden table exchanged confused glances. They could not understand why their clan leader was laughing at a time like this. The room, heavy with anticipation and unspoken fear, suddenly felt lighter, yet the laughter only deepened the mystery.

The tribesmen gathered around, many standing in the shadows, whispered among themselves. Their voices were hushed, speculative — what could have possibly caused their leader to laugh in such a critical moment? Were they missing something? Had Fugaku gone mad?

"Fugaku, what is so funny?" one of the elders finally asked, his tone cautious but curious.

For a moment, Fugaku remained silent. His smile faded slowly, replaced by a cold, hard expression.

"I'm laughing at you," Fugaku said, his voice low and sharp. "You elders. You still don't see the gravity of our situation. You're blind to the truth and, frankly, it makes you all fools."

His words hit like thunder in the silent hall. The elders' faces paled, eyes narrowing with outrage. One of them slammed his hand onto the table, making the wooden surface vibrate.

"How dare you speak to us like that?" he thundered. "Do you even know what you're saying?"

The third elder, usually reserved, was trembling with anger. He pointed a shaking finger at Fugaku and spat venomously, "Fugaku, your disrespect knows no bounds!"

The crowd gasped. It was unthinkable — the clan leader openly insulting the elders, whose authority traditionally surpassed his own.

Yet Fugaku stood his ground, unflinching. Calmly, he reached into his robes and withdrew a stack of documents. He set them deliberately on the table, his eyes scanning the room with icy precision.

"This," Fugaku said, "is the evidence of Shimura Danzō's slander against the Uchiha clan and myself."

Whispers instantly turned into murmurs as the documents were passed around. One by one, the elders and tribesmen took the papers, their eyes scanning the written accusations and fabricated stories. Faces that were moments ago filled with confidence slowly darkened. The solemnity in the room grew palpable.

"It's blatant defamation," one man said through gritted teeth. "Shimura Danzō is nothing but a snake. He deserves death for this!"

But as the elders scrutinized the information, a heavy silence fell. They realized they had seriously underestimated the depth of Danzō's treachery. The evidence was damning — it was unlike anything they had expected.

After a long pause, the Great Elder finally spoke, his voice low and heavy with doubt.

"Perhaps... perhaps Shimura Danzō has not framed you after all, Fugaku. The contents of this information might be true."

The room froze.

Every Uchiha present stared in disbelief at the Great Elder. His words seemed like a betrayal, as if he were an agent of Shimura Danzō himself.

Breaking the silence, the Second Elder — who had remained quiet throughout the meeting — suddenly exploded with fury. His eyes blazed as he thrust his own piece of intelligence towards the Great Elder.

"You blind fool! Read this carefully!" he shouted, his voice echoing in the chamber.

The Great Elder recoiled as the paper hit his face. The words on the page were shocking.

"The son of the Second Elder of Uchiha beat a man to death in the street, boasting of his father's status. His involvement in the Security Force is an open disgrace to our clan."

The first elder frowned deeply. "Second Elder, your son committed a grave crime — resisted arrest, even. Is this the way you teach your offspring?"

The Second Elder spat back with venom, "You're lucky I don't humiliate you the way you humiliate me!"

The tension erupted.

Among the gathered Uchiha, suppressed laughter bubbled beneath the surface. Watching the Great Elder being humiliated by the Second Elder's crude insults was strangely satisfying, a darkly humorous moment in an otherwise grim meeting.

The Second Elder, known for his aggressive stance in favor of war against their enemies, was often the target of the others' ire.

The Third Elder glared and snapped, "Confess quickly! Hand your son over, or bring shame to the entire clan!"

The Second Elder spat in the Third Elder's face in return. "Go to hell! If you think you can catch my son today, I'll commit seppuku with my own hands!"

The Great Elder rose angrily, prepared to leave. "Very well! I will personally bring your son to justice."

Just then, a young Uchiha spoke up hesitantly, "But... First Elder, the Second Elder has no son."

The room went quiet. Heads turned toward the Second Elder.

Confusion flickered across everyone's faces. If the Second Elder had no son, why had he reacted with such fury? Where did this fabricated son come from?

"Hehe," one elder forced a laugh, "If even one piece of this 'intelligence' is false, what makes you think the rest is true?"

Uchiha Fugaku stood up and addressed the Great Elder, "Are you seriously suggesting that my four-year-old son has been accused of harassing a medical ninja?"

The Great Elder opened his mouth but had no words.

Fugaku continued, "Or that I suddenly became some kind of monster who molests an eighty-year-old woman on the street?"

The elders all looked at each other, embarrassed. The evidence clearly was nonsense.

Still, stubbornly, the Great Elder insisted, "Even if some parts are false, it does not mean the entire accusation is untrue. Shimura Danzō's hand is surely behind this."

"But where is the proof?" the Third Elder challenged. "How do you intend to prove Danzō's involvement?"

Fugaku sighed deeply. "I have come to realize the elders are no longer capable of leading this clan. Their judgment is clouded, their minds slow."

His words were met with a burst of laughter.

The elders chuckled mockingly, "Is the clan leader seriously threatening to remove us? You must be joking."

They knew well the power dynamics of the Uchiha. The elders held supreme authority, even above the clan leader. They could remove Fugaku from power at any time and install a new leader.

The thought of Fugaku ousting the elders was laughable.

Throughout history, only Uchiha Madara had ever dared to confront the elders, and he had done so with overwhelming power. Fugaku's threats seemed like mere childish fantasies.

But Fugaku's next words silenced the laughter.

"I am not joking. Surrender now, or die," he said, his voice cold and steady.

He closed his eyes, a moment of stillness passing over the room.

When he opened them again, the three magatama of the Sharingan in his eyes had shifted. The iconic pattern of the Mangekyō Sharingan glowed ominously.

The smiles on the elders' faces vanished instantly. The room fell into a deathly silence.

They knew what that meant. They were staring at power that could crush their entire existence.

Fugaku's Mangekyō Sharingan was a symbol of unrivaled strength and determination — a warning that he was ready to end this conflict once and for all.

The elders glanced nervously at one another. No longer could they dismiss him as a mere clan leader. He was a force to be reckoned with, and he had just issued an ultimatum: surrender or face annihilation.

The fate of the Uchiha clan hung in the balance.
