Chapter 271: Master Alchemist
"Of course, I came back. I told you I would. I'm interested in learning alchemy, remember?" He said, showing her his class ID.
Mary nodded and took his ID which made her see all the information on it.
She saw that he had the Beginner Crafter class, as well as many skills including Beginner Alchemist skill. She was impressed and curious.
"Wow, you have 5 skills. That's amazing. And you have the Beginner Alchemist skill too. That means you can learn alchemy faster and be eligible to enter the workshop without examination too. You're very lucky, Mr. Lucas." She said, praising him.
Lucas shrugged and thanked her. He didn't think it was a big deal. He just wanted to learn and create things in order to help his territory reach heights that no other would.
"Come on, let me take you to the master. He's waiting for you. He's very excited to meet you. He's the best alchemist in town, and if you play your cards right, he can teach you in his free time too. He'll teach you everything you need to know about alchemy." She said, leading him to the back of the room.
Lucas followed her and felt a surge of excitement and curiosity. He was about to meet his first-ever teacher for this fantasy stuff.
The time had passed when he had to inefficiently figure out everything on his own. He was about to start his alchemy journey.
Lucas followed Mary to the back of the room, where a door led to a staircase. They climbed up the stairs and reached a landing, where another door opened to a large and messy room.
The room was filled with shelves, tables, cabinets, and drawers, all containing various alchemical equipment, materials, and products.

There were flasks, vials, bottles, jars, tubes, pipes, funnels, filters, burners, cauldrons, crucibles, alembics, mortars, pestles, and more.
How did Lucas know about this equipment he had never seen before? It was because of his potion-making skill and the new alchemy.
There were herbs, spices, minerals, metals, crystals, liquids, powders, oils, essences, and more.
Lucas even found vastly different potions, elixirs, salves, balms, ointments, creams, and more.
Many cauldrons were going on at the same time bubbling up and filling the room with an aroma that Lucas found unknown.
The potions he made were very different from the ones inside the cauldrons.
There were multiple ingredients inside swimming around in the water.
In the middle of the room, there was a large wooden desk, where a grumpy old man was sitting.
He had a long white beard, a bald head, and a pair of spectacles. He was wearing a dirty and stained robe.
There were a lot of writing materials on the big table.
The old man was writing something on the paper while muttering to himself.
Mary and Lucas approached the desk and greeted the old man.
"Master, this is Lucas. He's the one I told you about. He has the Beginner Crafter class and in total 5 skills, master." Mary said, introducing Lucas.
The old man looked up from his paper and eyed Lucas with interest and curiosity. He took his spectacles off and put them on the desk. He stood up and walked around the desk to reach them.
The old man stood in front of Lucas and reached out his hand.
"I'm Sam. I'm the master alchemist of this workshop. Also the leader and founder here. It's a pleasure meeting you. You have a very rare and valuable skill, Lucas." He said, welcoming Lucas.
Lucas smiled and thanked him. He felt a bit nervous about the old man, he didn't know why.
He sensed a powerful and thick smell of herbs from him.
"Come, Lucas. Let me show you something." He said, leading Lucas to a corner of the room.
There, he opened a cabinet and took out a small wooden box. He opened the box and revealed a small badge.
The badge had a metallic hue on it and it emitted a warm and gentle light.
"M-Master… are you sure?" Mary said with pale eyes and a hand on her mouth.
Sam only nodded at her and shook the box with expectant eyes, Lucas wasn't sure but he went and picked the badge from the box.
[Second Quest generated!]
[Master Alchemist Sam has given you the badge of disciple.]
[Quest: Learn everything Sam has to offer.]
[Reward: Keep the class and all the skills and memories you gained in this realm.]
[Failure: Lose the class and all the memories you gained in this realm]
Lucas gasped and widened his eyes.
"What? Do you already know what this is? Someone gave it to you already, hah?" Sam with furious eyes looked at Mary who just averted her gaze while biting her lips.
It seemed her herb ration would not be hers for a long time now.
"No… Master Alchemist. Nobody gave this to me, I am just marveling at the making of this masterpiece." Lucas lied but also told the truth, he felt oppression coming from the badge.
A sense of feeling he felt through the smithing skill, this badge was something way out of his league, the skill had told him that clearly.
Sam smiled and finally understood. He saw Lucas's reaction with understanding now.
"I already forgot you also have smithing skills… Yes, you should feel a bit inadequate after touching it. But pay it no mind, you will not be smithing ANYTIME SOON."
'Well, I don't like the sound of that.' Lucas smiled form the outside but couldn't help but feel a red flag too.
"This is a disciple badge, made personally by a Master Smith. We masters in our trades get only 2 of these badges to give and I am giving one of these to you… Do you accept?" He said with serious eyes. The atmosphere had changed completely.
Lucas knew that the old man's strength was nothing, if Lucas even punched him, the old man would die probably.
But the oppression he felt from the pride and skill level of this old man made him grin with excitement.
The old man was surprised to see such a beastly grin.
"I accept," Lucas said and gave a deep nod to the old man in response.
He was his teacher now, a feeling he had for the first time.
He had teachers on Earth but this one was different in all the measures.
