Off the coast of New York—

Clark stared anxiously at Faora standing before him.

Zod had been talking to him about Krypton, and because of his deep curiosity about his home planet, Clark had unconsciously continued listening and asking question after question.

But just moments ago, Zod's holographic projection had suddenly vanished.

In that instant, Clark sensed that something was wrong.

No one understood the power of Kryptonians better than he did. And no one knew more clearly how terrifying it would be if a group of them gathered together.

From the very beginning, Zod and Faora had been trying to determine where he stood.

And after he gave his answer, Clark could clearly feel Faora's hostility toward him.

They confirmed his stance—and now, they were treating him as an enemy…

Considering Zod's desire to restore Krypton's former glory…

Even though Zod and Faora hadn't said it outright, Clark was certain they intended to do something to Earth—something that would definitely cross his bottom line.

And yet he had wasted precious time…

What an idiot I am!

Clark cursed himself inwardly.

Seeing Clark's expression, Faora sneered.

Though only a few minutes had passed, it had been more than enough time for them.

Did you really think General Zod spent all that time just chatting about Krypton and dreams?

You're such a naïve and kind-hearted child.

People like this—those who clearly felt affection and deep curiosity for Krypton and their homeland, yet still chose not to stand with them—

Such people were… laughable.

Faora flashed a sweet yet cruel smile at Clark and whispered, "It's begun."

"What's begun?"

Clark asked in a deep voice.

Faora raised her hand and pointed into the distance, a cold smile on her face. "War."

War—and fighting strong opponents—was what she lived for.

War?

Clark's heart clenched. Following the direction of Faora's finger, he turned his head.

But the moment he turned, a punch slammed into his face, sending him flying backward.

Before he could regain his balance, Faora appeared above him. She grabbed his head and slammed him down from midair.

Whoosh!

With a thunderous sound, Clark was smashed into the sea.

Boom!

The surface of the ocean caved in. Seawater burst upward like a torrential storm, crashing down in every direction.

So naïve.

Faora's frost-covered face twisted into a mocking grin.

But in the next moment, as the ocean water rushed back into the crater, Clark grabbed Faora's arm and hurled her away.

Splat!

Flying just above the ocean's surface, Faora skipped like a stone across water, each bounce spraying up massive plumes before she hit again and again—

Boom! Boom!

It was as if bombs were detonating across the sea, flinging water everywhere.

Eventually, Faora disappeared into the chaos of the waves.

Clark's eyes narrowed as he raised a hand to guard his chin.

In the next instant, Faora burst out of the water and landed a punch directly into Clark's palm. He caught it firmly, and she murmured, "Not bad."

"What do you mean, war?"

Clark's voice grew colder.

It seemed these fellow Kryptonians of his were far more dangerous than he had imagined.

Faora's eyes gleamed cruelly. She smiled and said, "Haven't you already guessed?"

As she spoke, two blazing beams of heat vision shot from her eyes.

But the sudden attack didn't catch Clark off guard.

Two equally intense heat beams erupted from his eyes, clashing violently with Faora's. The surge of energy exploded between them, sending both flying backward.

Clark quickly stabilized in the air, then suddenly turned his gaze toward New York.

He saw a massive beam of light shooting into the sky.

That beam originated from within the city, aiming straight toward space. Judging by its appearance, it should have pierced the atmosphere—but it looked as if it had struck something solid.

In the next moment, the sky seemed to shatter. Ripples spread outward as though a flawless blue satin had been stained with ink. A gaping black hole appeared in the sky.

Energy rolled along the edges of the hole. Through it, one could see the dark void of space and twinkling stars beyond.

Then, silver specks began to fall—like stardust, drifting gently from above.

But with his super vision, Clark immediately saw the truth.

They weren't stardust. They were invaders—each one riding a strange flying device, their bodies encased in metallic armor, their circuits and limbs giving them a robotic yet grotesque appearance.

What… are those?

Clark's heart tightened.

Just as he prepared to rush over, Faora once again blocked his path, her expression icy.

She twisted her neck, producing two sharp cracking sounds, then said to Clark, "Not bad, kid."

"But… you're not going through!"

Clark growled coldly, "Move."

"Hah!"

Faora let out a cold laugh. As Clark vanished from where he stood, she disappeared at the same time.

The next moment, with a heavy blow of her foot, she intercepted Clark.

The two clashed midair, falling into the sea, then burst upward through the waves.

Staring at Faora standing before him again, Clark let out a low snort.

It was clear now—unless he defeated this woman, he wasn't getting through.

Then so be it… he'd take her down as fast as possible!

Seeing his stance, Faora licked her lips.

Now that's more like it.

The next second, the two collided.

Boom!

A shockwave erupted, battering the sea and sending waves crashing outward in all directions.

Meanwhile, in New York—

The sudden light pillar was eye-catching even in broad daylight, and the gaping hole in the sky drew countless stares.

But before anyone could understand what was happening, those grotesque figures burst through the portal like a swarm of insects. Riding bizarre crafts, they swarmed through the skies, crisscrossing with blazing energy beams.

Boom! Boom!

The ground was scorched clean. Fire and dust clouds filled the air.

People screamed and fled in panic.

In an instant, cries, explosions, and wails echoed through every street.

War had begun.

At the same time, Nick Fury watched the footage streaming from New York, his face grim.

The enemy moved too quickly.

From the moment the Tesseract was stolen to the sudden outbreak of war—it had been less than ten minutes!

That meant the enemy had already prepared everything. As soon as they seized the Tesseract, they opened a spatial gateway.

They'd left almost no time for a response. Fortunately, Fury had acted fast and, immediately after the Tesseract was taken, summoned both the Avengers and the X-Men.
