Marvel : The God Of Punishment System

Chapter 126: Chapter 126: Descent Into Hell

Above the skies of New York, the infernal legions had already launched their full assault against the radiant gates of heavenly light.

Within moments, the celestial portals vanished from sight.

Simultaneously, the horrific fissures that had torn through New York's streets sealed themselves, leaving only chaos and destruction in their wake.

The only remnants of the hellish invasion were the unfortunate demons who had failed to either join the assault on heaven or retreat to their infernal realm. Most of these stragglers were swiftly eliminated by Stark Industries' advanced defense robots and vigilant Avengers operatives patrolling the streets.

What Jason found most telling—and couldn't help but shake his head in dismay about—was how utterly unconcerned the lords of hell seemed regarding Mephisto's capture. The moment Heaven's formidable defenses had crumbled, Hell's coalition forces had surged through the breach without hesitation.

Jason watched the footage with a mix of fascination and disbelief. What kind of strategy was this? Weren't they concerned this might be equivalent to trapping themselves—like closing the door before beating a cornered dog?

They'd simply charged in without apparent consideration for potential consequences.

Perhaps these mighty lords of hell possessed contingency plans beyond his current understanding. Or perhaps their arrogance had finally exceeded their wisdom.

Regardless of their motivations, Earth was temporarily secure.

The moment the luminous gateways had sealed, Jason had detected an unmistakable spatial fluctuation permeating the atmosphere—undoubtedly the Ancient One's defensive magical barriers activating at full strength.

From this moment forward, travel between realms would be significantly restricted. Hell's denizens would find Earth nearly impossible to access, and likewise, Heaven's forces would encounter similar barriers to terrestrial manifestation.

Of course, among those who vanished alongside the hellish army was New York's wealthiest industrialist and notorious playboy, Tony Stark.

The United States government, New York municipal authorities, and Stark Industries all issued extensive "High Reward Missing Person" notices, but their efforts yielded nothing but silence.

Meanwhile, Jason had successfully infiltrated hell itself.

Having transformed his appearance to match the local demonic population, he now stood within Mephisto's royal metropolis. Through arcane techniques, he even managed to broadcast a live feed of his current surroundings to the captive Mephisto, still imprisoned within the second God Domain.

In a secluded corner of the infernal city, Jason retrieved a massive Arc reactor from his Absolute Zero dimensional storage space. This was the super-weapon that Anton and his talented son had perfected merely days ago after months of painstaking research.

Jason methodically prepared the device while maintaining his one-sided conversation with Mephisto in the God Domain.

"Old Mo," he began with deceptive casualness, "exactly how many demons reside in this royal city of yours? I've only had time for a preliminary assessment, but it appears to exceed one million inhabitants."

His fingers danced across the reactor's control panel as he continued. "Care to speculate what might happen if I detonate this particular device in the heart of your capital?"

Mephisto's enraged roars echoed throughout the God Domain, yet he stubbornly refused to surrender his power.

Jason remained unperturbed by the display. "Beyond this royal metropolis, your territory encompasses three additional major cities, doesn't it? Rest assured, I haven't forgotten about them."

His voice hardened with cold precision. "I've brought more than a dozen of these enhanced super-weapons—more than enough to deal with all four of your major population centers, with devices to spare."

"Tick... tock..."

The super-weapon's countdown sequence initiated with ominous precision.

Jason had no intention of evacuating the area. With the God Domain accessible, he needed only to retreat into its protective embrace when detonation occurred, guaranteeing his complete safety from the impending devastation.

"Old Mo," he continued, his tone almost conversational, "observe carefully—this represents the first field deployment of this particular class of weapon. According to my technical team, its effectiveness far surpasses conventional nuclear ones."

Jason gestured expansively as he explained. "Upon detonation, the released energy doesn't expand in all directions like primitive nuclear weapons. Instead, it propagates in a precise horizontal ring pattern, approximately ten meters in height."

His eyes gleamed with calculated malice. "Can you visualize the outcome? From ground level to a height of more than ten meters, nothing in your royal city will remain but dust. I do hope your palace possesses sufficient structural integrity—I'm particularly interested in examining whatever treasures it might contain afterward."

Jason positioned himself beside the super-weapon, watching each second tick away with methodical patience.

"Ten... nine... eight..."

With a casual gesture, Jason manifested the obsidian portal leading directly to the Second God Domain.

Just as he prepared to step through to safety, Mephisto's desperate roar echoed through their connection: "Enough! I promise—stop! I'll reveal the throne's location!"

Jason hesitated momentarily, then continued his deliberate entry into the divine realm.

At the last possible moment, he glanced back at the countdown display: "Four... three..."

Within the God Domain, Jason materialized directly before the captive Mephisto, shaking his head with mock regret. "My sincere apologies, but your agreement came rather too late."

As these words left his lips, the projected image displayed before them flickered violently before dissolving into static. Mephisto stared in stunned disbelief.

After a prolonged silence, he finally managed to ask, "What... what have you... done?"

At that precise moment, a cascade of system notifications flooded Jason's consciousness.

Silver tier reward package, gold tier, platinum tier, diamond tier...

His attribute points surged explosively upward as the system registered his unprecedented killing spree exceeding 300,000 entities simultaneously!

Jason's earlier estimate had been accurate—Mephisto's royal city had indeed housed a population surpassing one million souls.

The devastating effectiveness of Anton and Ivan Vanko super-weapon had exceeded even Jason's most optimistic projections. Truly, this represented their masterpiece—a creation requiring extraordinary resources and expertise to perfect.

His earlier claim about possessing "more than a dozen" such devices had been merely a psychological tactic against Mephisto. In reality, this weapon represented the pinnacle of current technological achievement.

The system's reward notifications continued to chime intermittently in his mind.

Finally, a magnificent prize materialized—the extraordinary achievement: "Million-Slayer"!

His previous milestone of eliminating 100,000 entities had granted him the power of the sun itself.

What unprecedented power would this new accomplishment bestow?

Before examining his newfound rewards, however, he needed to address the shattered Mephisto before him.

Observing the demon lord's expression of absolute devastation, Jason maintained his façade of implacable calm.

"Mephisto," he stated with clinical detachment, "did you truly believe I was merely bluffing when I declared my intention to eradicate every demonic entity within your domain? I assure you, I have maintained absolute seriousness from the beginning."

"I already agreed to surrender!" Mephisto protested hoarsely. "Why slaughter them needlessly?"

Jason's lips curved into a mirthless smile. "Because I place no trust whatsoever in the promises of a creature such as yourself. Deception is your most refined art, is it not?"

His eyes narrowed dangerously. "How could I possibly distinguish between true and false?"

"You sadistic bastard!" Mephisto snarled, his voice raw with hatred. "What do you truly want?"

Without responding, Jason simply waved his hand to open another portal, vanishing from Mephisto's presence in a single fluid motion.

The hellish landscape materialized before his eyes once more, though it bore little resemblance to the royal city he had witnessed before detonation.

What stretched before him resembled a vast, featureless plain rather than the ruins of a once-thriving metropolis. Unlike human cities with their towering skyscrapers, demonic architecture rarely extended skyward—a characteristic that had made the horizontal blast wave particularly effective. The ten-meter shockwave had obliterated everything within the royal city's boundaries with terrifying efficiency.

Only at the outermost perimeter, almost at the horizon's edge, could one discern a grotesque wall of debris—the accumulated wreckage pushed outward by the weapon's devastating power.

Beneath his feet lay nothing but fine ash, stretching in all directions.

In the distance, however, the partially destroyed remnants of the royal palace remained defiantly upright, though most of its magnificent structure had been reduced to rubble.

Jason traversed the distance to the palace ruins with supernatural speed, examining the devastated structure with professional interest.

Looking upon the fractured remains of what must have been an imposing fortress, Jason addressed Mephisto through their connection. "You must have secreted valuable artifacts within this palace. Now would be an excellent opportunity to begin establishing your trustworthiness."

Within the God Domain, the stunned Mephisto finally spoke, his voice hollow with defeat. "There exists a deeply subterranean complex beneath the visible ruins... that is where my personal treasure vault is located..."

Jason made a sweeping gesture, and instantly a thousand demon generals materialized from the God Domain into the hellish realm.

With a single commanding word, they began excavating the site with methodical precision.

Jason ascended into the air, surveying the utterly annihilated cityscape below. "Beyond your treasure," he ask casually, "where might I locate the item that I am looking for?"

Mephisto remained stubbornly silent.

Rather than displaying anger at this resistance, Jason merely laughed—a sound devoid of genuine mirth.

"No matter," he declared. "Our little game has only just begun."

He steadies himself in a specific direction, calculating distances mentally. "If my intelligence is accurate, your second-largest population center lies precisely in this direction. I can reach it within minutes at full flight speed."

Without further preamble, he launched himself forward, accelerating to tremendous velocity.

As he soared through the crimson skies of Hell, his thoughts turned to the immense rewards the system had just bestowed upon him.

"Old Mephisto," he called out, his voice carrying effortlessly across realms, "you still maintain control over three additional cities within your dominion."

His voice took on an edge of steel as he continued. "I give you my solemn oath—if you persist to not say anything, I will systematically obliterate each remaining doamin without mercy until you reveal the throne's location."

The wind howled past him as he accelerated further. "However, should you choose to cooperate, I might be persuaded to spare the demonic populations outside your major urban centers."
