Chapter 163: Chapter 163: Closely Connected
It was an extremely familiar technique.
And it carried an equally familiar spiritual pressure.
Shiba Isshin looked up.
A blond-haired young man stood in the sky.
"Naruto, she saved my life—even if she's a Quincy," Isshin said.
Naruto looked down, giving him a puzzled glance. "I know. That's exactly why I can't let her go."
Isshin froze.
Kurosaki Masaki clenched her fists and gritted her teeth. "Are you here to take me back?"
"Shinigami!"
Naruto was about to speak when he sensed something and tilted his head to the side.
A light arrow shot out from an alley, slicing through the sky toward him.
He raised a hand and pointed.
Chains lashed out. The tip collided with the arrow mid-air and exploded, sending smoke rolling.
"Masaki, do you see the true face of these Shinigami now?" A powerful spiritual pressure descended and landed beside the orange-haired girl. "They won't remember your kindness."
"They only care about exploiting you for your achievements."
A white-haired man with glasses appeared.
"Ryūken, why are you here?" Masaki asked in surprise, lifting her head.
The man's eyes remained fixed on Naruto. "The moment I sensed Hollow spiritual pressure, I knew you wouldn't sit still."
"Find a chance to escape later."
"This guy…"
His expression turned grim as he tightened his grip on his light-blue spiritual bow. "He's strong."
Before the arrow could be fired—
The white-haired man's vision blurred. The glow of his bow faded rapidly.
The blond man from the sky had somehow appeared beside him, gripping his wrist.
A strange, unfamiliar spell formation activated, completely cutting off the flow of spiritual power.
"I know there's some bad blood between Shinigami and Quincy," Naruto said softly, frowning, his tone slightly troubled. "But before we fight, can you at least hear what I have to say?"
Masaki raised her hand, spiritual pressure stirring.
Isshin scratched his head and spoke. "You should listen. Naruto isn't the kind of person to kick someone when they're down."
"Besides…"
"Even if the two of you fought together, I doubt you could beat Naruto."
"It's better not to get beaten up."
Naruto pointed at Masaki. "I stopped her because there's something wrong with her body."
"You can't sense it yet…"
"But in a few days, it'll completely erupt."
Isshin's pupils widened as he recalled the moment the Hollow bit Masaki's shoulder. "Is it Hollowfication?"
"She's going to Hollowfy?"
"But she's human—why would she…"
The white-haired man was stunned, his body tensed further.
Hollowfication?
A strange term.
But not hard to grasp—it implied a transformation toward a Hollow.
"It's not that simple," Naruto shook his head. "Do you remember the Hollow shown at the meeting?"
"Possession?" Isshin's expression grew heavier.
Naruto nodded.
"You must have a way, Naruto," Isshin pleaded. "Please save her."
Naruto gave him a curious glance. "Why else do you think I stopped her?"
The white-haired man lowered his voice. "I don't trust you Shinigami…"
Naruto pointed at Masaki again. "Look closely—her throat."
The man turned.
Masaki frowned slightly, clearly uncomfortable. She raised her hand to touch her collarbone.
A small, black dot barely visible and with no discernible spiritual pressure had appeared at the center.
It looked just like a mole.
But…
Squinting, if you stared carefully through the dot, you could see the scenery behind her.
"What is this?" the man's voice trembled in disbelief.
He already had a guess.
Something like that appearing on her body, with such a feature…
He just couldn't bring himself to believe it.
"A Hollow hole," Naruto explained as he approached. "For now, it's just a small dot. But when that Hollow regains more power, the hole will expand until…"
"The Hollow completely devours her and successfully possesses her."
The white-haired man clenched his teeth and turned to glare at Isshin. "You bastard!"
"There's still a chance," Naruto walked to Masaki's side.
Isshin nodded eagerly. "Naruto's handled things like this before."
"But this is my first time dealing with it in a human," Naruto admitted, shaking his head. "I can't say for sure what will happen."
He paused.
Then looked in a direction. "I'll take you to meet someone."
Urahara Shop
"A general store?" the white-haired man frowned once they arrived. "If you need something from us humans, just say it."
"The Ishida family has no shortage of money."
"Whatever you need, we'll get the best in the shortest time."
His words were answered by the sound of a sliding door.
A man in a bucket hat and clogs stepped out. "No need to say that, Mr. Ishida."
"My shop may be small, but the items inside… aren't found just anywhere."
"They're one-of-a-kind in all three realms."
The white-haired man stepped back, expression solemn.
This easygoing man was dangerous too!
When did Karakura Town get so many powerful—and weird—Shinigami?
"Urahara Kisuke," Isshin said his name aloud.
"Yo, Captain Shiba," Urahara greeted cheerfully. "What a surprise to run into you here."
"Yoruichi-san still mentions you now and then."
Naruto waved his hand. Chains surged and wrapped around Masaki, bringing her in front of Urahara. "Enough small talk. Her condition comes first."
Urahara was startled.
Only now did he notice the unusual signs on her body.
"Follow me," he gestured.
They entered the shop, passing through to a back room.
After an examination—
Urahara frowned. "It's bad. Although it's a possession, her soul is already undergoing Hollowfication."
"Can the Four-Symbol Seal fix it?" Naruto raised his hand.
(This is the flawless version!)
Urahara considered, then shook his head. "I'm afraid not."
"It can stop the Hollow's possession, but the Hollowfication process within her is already underway—and it's irreversible."
The white-haired man clenched his fists.
"But I used the Four-Symbol Seal on Byakuya Sōjun," Naruto frowned.
"That's because he's a Shinigami," Urahara pointed."The seal can suppress it because he naturally has Shinigami power, which directly opposes Hollow power."
Naruto's eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "So, if we seal some Shinigami power inside her, it could suppress the Hollow?"
The white-haired man's fists clenched tighter.
"That's a Vasto Lorde," Urahara reminded. "Very few Shinigami—especially among the captains—have the strength to suppress that kind of power."
Isshin answered without hesitation. "Then use mine."
"She saved my life."
"It's time for me to return the favor."
Naruto frowned. "Seal you inside Masaki?"
The white-haired man looked dumbfounded, mouth agape.
Such a vibrant young woman's body would end up hosting a Hollow and a scruffy man?
"Kinda awkward," Isshin scratched his head.
Urahara shook his head. "No need for that."
"She just needs Shinigami power, not the Shinigami himself."
"As long as Captain Shiba injects his power into her—and…"
"…never leaves her side until she dies, continuously using his power to suppress her Hollowfication."
Isshin nodded, hitting his fist into his palm in realization. "I see!"
"No problem, then."
Urahara clapped and summoned a scroll.
Unrolling it revealed a Gigai.
"This was one of my experimental models," he explained while glancing at Naruto. "I'll modify it a bit. Once Captain Shiba wears it, his power will transfer to Miss Kurosaki."
Isshin stepped forward to grab it.
"But…" Urahara pulled the scroll back slightly. "I need to make one thing clear first."
"Once you make this choice…"
"You will completely become an ordinary human."
"Not only will you lose your Shinigami powers—you won't even be able to see souls or Hollows anymore."
"And there will be no turning back."
"Once you enter this Gigai, your Shinigami power will intertwine with Masaki's soul and the Hollow within."
"In that fusion, you won't be able to separate again."
"In other words—"
Isshin waved his hand and interrupted. "I get it!"
"I'm in!"
Urahara was momentarily stunned.
Isshin sounded impatient. "I said I'll do it. Let's just start already."
"You'll lose all your powers," Urahara said solemnly. "Aren't you going to reconsider?"
Isshin curled his lip. "If I ignore my benefactor in her time of need…"
"I'll be ashamed of myself forever."
Masaki raised her head, eyes wide, staring at Isshin.
The white-haired man was dumbstruck.
Urahara nodded. "Understood. Then let's begin the ritua—"
Naruto raised his hand to stop him. "Wait."
Isshin turned back, baffled. "Naruto, are you trying to stop me?"
"That's your decision," Naruto shook his head. "But we still have time, right?"
"Miss Kurosaki's condition… should be examined further."
Urahara shrugged. "As long as we perform the ritual within a week, it'll be fine."
"Isshin, come back with me to the Seireitei," Naruto beckoned.
Isshin frowned. "Go back?"
"The Head Captain and the Central 46 won't approve of this."
"They…"
Naruto shook his head. "I'm not looking for their approval."
"It's just that after this, we might not see each other for decades."
"You should at least say goodbye to your squad—and your family."
"With your status…"
"Even if you defect, it won't be a problem."
Isshin blinked, then nodded firmly. "Right!"
"I need to hand over the Tenth Division to Hitsugaya."
"If I leave it to Rangiku, who knows what kind of mess she'll cause."
"Fate ranks first, followed by luck, then geomancy, virtue, and study."
"All things are governed by fate, and man has no say—fate cannot be defied!"
"But Fang Xiu, with his Heaven's Fate Record, can steal destinies and defy the heavens!"
