Chapter 73: Chapter 7

Lobo's body skidded across the pavement, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. The impact of Supergirl's powerful kick had sent him flying, but to anyone who knew the bounty hunter, this was hardly a surprise. He grinned through the pain, rubbing his chin as he slowly pushed himself up.

"Not bad, girly," Lobo drawled, cracking his neck and standing tall, unfazed by the attack. "But you're gonna have to do better than that."

Wonder Girl had already recovered from the slap, pushing herself out of the debris of the building with an intense glare. Her muscles tensed, ready for another round. "We're not done yet, you freak!"

Batgirl watched with growing concern as her teammates clashed with the imposing alien. She had seen Lobo in action before—nothing could kill him, and nothing seemed to faze him. Yet, despite the grim odds, there was a sense of determination in the air. They had to hold their ground.

Lobo cracked his knuckles, eyeing Supergirl. "So, Super Chump's little sister likes to throw a punch, huh?" He smirked, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Let's see how long you can keep that up, sweetheart. Maybe after I take you all down, I'll go for a drink, maybe even give your little friend here a ride in my space cruiser." His grin widened at the thought.

Supergirl was quick to react, charging him with even more speed than before, but this time, Lobo wasn't going to be caught off guard. With a speed that belied his intimidating appearance, he jumped to the side, narrowly dodging the next blow, and laughed at the near miss.

"Ha! What's the matter, sweetheart? Losing your touch?" He taunted, enjoying every second of the chaos he was causing.

Batgirl was silently analyzing the situation, trying to figure out a strategy. Wonder Girl and Supergirl were powerful, but Lobo was no ordinary opponent. His immortality made him nearly impossible to defeat through brute force alone.

"We need to work together," Batgirl muttered to herself. "Outsmart him, not overpower him."

Lobo, sensing the shift in the air, stopped his taunting for a moment and looked at the trio of heroines. "You girls really think you can outsmart me?" he laughed, his voice filled with mockery. "I've been doing this job longer than you've been alive, and I'm still undefeated. This is just a warm-up. When I'm done here, I'll take that paycheck, and then we'll see who's left standing."

Wonder Girl and Supergirl exchanged determined looks. Batgirl, in the shadows, finally came up with a plan. It wasn't about strength—this was a battle of wits. If they could figure out a way to distract Lobo long enough to incapacitate him, they might stand a chance.

"Let's do this together," Batgirl said, her voice filled with resolve as she slipped into action.

With a precise maneuver, Batgirl launched a series of smoke bombs, disorienting Lobo and creating a cloud of confusion. Wonder Girl and Supergirl quickly took advantage of the momentary distraction, positioning themselves to strike at his weak spots.

But Lobo wasn't easily fooled. He laughed through the smoke, his voice booming.

"You think this is going to stop me? You're cute, but I've seen better tricks from my breakfast cereal," he growled as he broke through the smoke, his strength causing the ground to shake beneath him.

It was clear that defeating Lobo wouldn't be easy, but the team was determined not to give up. As Lobo continued to taunt them, Batgirl's mind raced—she needed to find a way to outsmart him before this battle escalated any further.

Supergirl and Lobo collided with a deafening crash, both combatants locked in an intense, hand-to-hand struggle. Lobo's immense strength was matched only by Supergirl's speed, and the two were evenly matched in sheer power, but Lobo's experience was starting to show. He dodged most of Supergirl's punches with ease, blocking some and landing a few of his own, each blow landing with a heavy thud that shook the surrounding area.

"You're fast, sweetheart," Lobo grinned, his teeth glinting in the light as he blocked another of Supergirl's punches. "But I've fought bigger, meaner, and faster. Ain't nothing new here."

Supergirl grimaced, her breathing heavy, but she refused to back down. "You're going to regret underestimating me," she said between clenched teeth, her eyes glowing with determination.

Meanwhile, Wonder Girl had recovered mid-air, gritting her teeth as she adjusted her position and came back down to the fray. She wasn't as fast as Supergirl, but she had raw strength and speed on her side, and she wasn't about to let Lobo take down her teammates.

With a battle cry, Wonder Girl rushed in, aiming to catch Lobo off guard while he was focused on Supergirl. But Lobo, ever the opportunist, sensed the incoming attack just in time. He turned with lightning speed, throwing a devastating backhand that sent Wonder Girl spiraling to the side, crashing into another building.

"You're all pretty tough for a bunch of gals," Lobo said, a gleam of excitement in his eyes. "But not tough enough."

Supergirl pushed herself up, more focused than ever. She needed to end this fight, and fast. "You may be strong, Lobo," she said, her voice steady, "but you won't win this."

Lobo laughed, an unsettling sound. "We'll see, Superchump. We'll see."

With a snarl, Supergirl launched herself at Lobo, a blur of motion as she attempted to grab him by the arm and lift him into the air. Lobo, however, anticipated the move and spun around, attempting to slam his fist into Supergirl's ribs. But Supergirl reacted just in time, twisting away and countering with an elbow strike to his jaw, sending Lobo stumbling back.

For a moment, Lobo's confident demeanor faltered, and he narrowed his eyes. He had underestimated the fight in these girls. They were resilient, fierce, and they were giving him a challenge.

But Lobo wasn't about to let them have the upper hand. With a growl, he surged forward once more, his fists a blur of motion as he aimed to overwhelm Supergirl with sheer power. She blocked as best she could, but Lobo's strength and unrelenting attacks made it difficult to keep up.

"Impressive, but not enough!" Lobo roared, his fists pounding down toward Supergirl.

As the fight raged on, Batgirl watched from the shadows, trying to think of a strategy. She knew they couldn't win through brute force alone—Lobo was too strong, and they needed a different approach.

The situation was growing increasingly dire. But Batgirl wasn't one to give up. She'd find a way to turn the tide.

In the Uzumaki household, the family sat down for dinner, enjoying a peaceful evening together. The quiet clatter of silverware and casual conversation filled the air, creating a sense of normalcy in the otherwise eventful life of the Uzumakis. The atmosphere was calm, but Himawari, ever perceptive, sensed something beyond their peaceful dinner.

As the battle raged on in New York City, Himawari's attention was drawn to the unfolding chaos. Her mind reached out, connecting with the situation happening far away. The presence of an intense battle struck her—she could feel it all, the waves of energy, the dangerous conflict. But Naruto, in the middle of his meal, didn't seem to be bothered by the world outside. His focus was entirely on his plate, eating with calm intent.

"Inform her not to mess with him," Naruto muttered softly, breaking the quiet as he looked up briefly. His voice held a level of detachment as he continued his meal. "His target is an enemy of humans, so let him be."

Himawari blinked in surprise. Her father had always kept his distance from the world, rarely intervening unless it was necessary. This was the first time he had suggested she take action. She felt a warmth spread in her chest as she smiled, grateful that he cared enough to tell her what to do.

"Thank you, Daddy," Himawari said, her voice soft with appreciation.

In her mind, she reached out to Supergirl, her thoughts forming a clear message. "Super Girl, don't fight him. The General is an alien that is an enemy of humans. Just ask the hunter, he will tell you what he is hunting."

Meanwhile, the battle between Lobo and Supergirl was escalating. Supergirl, struggling under Lobo's immense strength, was smashed into the ground with earth-shattering force. The blows left her reeling in pain, each one harder than the last. She fought to keep her composure, but doubts crept into her mind. The battle felt hopeless. She was used to being the one saving the day, not the one who was powerless.

She attempted to fly again, determined not to back down, but before she could strike, a sudden transmission from Himawari cut through her thoughts: "He is not an enemy."

Supergirl paused, her senses heightened. What was happening? She thought, unsure if she should believe Himawari's message or continue the fight. Looking at Lobo, she called out to him, her voice a mixture of frustration and curiosity. "Lobo, what are you hunting?"

Lobo looked over his shoulder, a mocking grin plastered on his face. "Oh, finally interested in listening, huh? I'm hunting a Krolotean. Why would I care about a human? Humans don't mean much to me." He chuckled darkly as he shifted his attention back to the collapsed building where Batgirl and General Tseng were trapped.

Supergirl's mind reeled as the pieces started to fit together. A Krolotean? She thought. It has replaced the real person. The only reason it would do that is for something... negative. Her heart sank as she realized the scope of what was happening. She needed to act fast.

She rushed toward Batgirl, breaking through the debris with a powerful strike, her mind made up. As she lifted the rubble, she saw the true nature of the General—the robot arm that had been concealed beneath the human-like appearance. With a swift motion, she applied pressure to the General's arm, and it snapped, revealing the truth.

"Here is your target, Lobo," Supergirl muttered, her frustration evident in her voice. "Leave."

Lobo sauntered up, casually plucking the now-defunct Krolotean from the rubble. "No need to thank me, sweetheart. Just doing my job." He teased, before walking off with the alien in tow, leaving the heroes to process what had just occurred.

Supergirl hovered near Batgirl, her concern still evident. "Batgirl, are you alright?" Her voice was filled with worry, but Batgirl, ever the professional, waved off the concern with a grimace.

"Just a light sprain. Nothing to worry about," Batgirl replied, though it was clear the situation had rattled her. "But what was that?"

"A Krolotean," Supergirl answered, her voice full of disbelief. She looked over at Wonder Girl, who had joined them, holding her chin with a painful expression.

Himawari's transmission had proven true. It was a Krolotean, a parasitic alien that replaced real people for nefarious purposes. Supergirl sighed, exhausted both physically and mentally.

Back at the Uzumaki household, Himawari was still processing the events as she continued to cook. She had done her part, sending the message, but now her mind lingered on the outcome. The Justice League had already been informed, and the problem with the Kroloteans was swiftly handled. Their infiltration had been exposed, but thanks to the League's tracking technology, the threat had been neutralized.

Himawari entered the living room, her heart lightened with the knowledge that her father had played a role in helping to resolve the situation, even though he hadn't directly intervened. She walked up to Naruto, her arms wrapping around his neck as she hugged him from behind.

"Daddy, I'm so happy that you saved them," she said, her voice filled with admiration and warmth.

Naruto chuckled softly, clearly amused by her words, but his response was humble. "I did nothing. But if it makes you happy, then so be it," he said with a small smile. He felt her arms around him, and for the first time in a long while, he felt at peace. The weight of the world, for just a moment, felt like it had lifted.

"No need to be so humble, Daddy," Himawari grinned, her voice cheerful as she kissed him on the cheek. "The world might never celebrate your heroism, but I always will. For today, I'll make you pudding."

With that, she bounced off toward the kitchen, a sense of purpose in her every step. As she prepared the pudding, her thoughts lingered on her father. Daddy will soon be back in shape. I can see it now, slowly but surely, the strong Daddy is coming back. But even as she prepared dessert, a shadow of doubt lingered in her mind. Will Daddy remember that day? Will Daddy be angry with me? Will he hate himself again?

She shook off the thoughts. Is it so wrong? she wondered as she stirred the pudding mix. Her heart was set on bringing her father back to the greatness she knew he once had. But for now, she would make sure he knew how much he was loved and appreciated.
