Naruto: Puppet Master Undercover in Konoha

Shindai, Obito, and Kakashi stood at the very back of the Konoha Ninja forces, waiting to face the combined Sand Village and Cloud Village ninja army head-on.

Though the hilltop of Mount Hakuto was packed with people, almost no sound could be heard—everyone wore serious expressions, for a brutal battle was about to begin.

At the front line were Orochimaru and Jiraiya.

Behind them stood the most powerful Jonin of the generation, including Minato Namikaze, Ino–Shika–Cho, Fugaku Uchiha, Shibi Aburame, and others.

In this tense atmosphere, Shindai couldn't stop himself from gulping nervously multiple times.

Suddenly, a series of deafening explosions shattered the air from a point nearly a kilometer away from Mount Hakuto. Blazing fireballs lit up the night sky.

The powerful blasts shook Mount Hakuto to its core.

Orochimaru's voice rang out in everyone's ears: "Follow me into battle!"

Orochimaru and Jiraiya led the way, charging straight into the enemy alliance.

Behind them, the Konoha ninja surged forward like warriors possessed—bloodshot eyes blazing, gripping every kind of weapon imaginable. Kunai, ninja swords, even Shindai caught sight of someone charging ahead wielding a hammer.

"Yaaargh~ Charge!"

Shindai also shouted loudly while his face turned red.

Obito and Kakashi, already some distance ahead, heard the shout, and their temples bulged instantly. They activated the Shifting Body Technique simultaneously—one appearing on Shindai's left, the other on his right.

"You shout loud enough, but how come you haven't moved an inch?!"

"You barely took a few steps—it was slower than the older women I help cross the street in Konoha!"

With that, Obito and Kakashi each grabbed one of Shindai's arms and dragged him forward.

As they rushed through the crowd, Shindai noticed they were now in the middle of the entire ninja unit and exclaimed anxiously, "Wait, slow down! Why are you guys rushing so fast?!"

The Konoha Ninja force had finally clashed with the combined Sand Village and Cloud Village ninja troops.

The pitch-black night had become brighter than day.

[Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique!]

Obito exhaled a massive fire dragon from his mouth straight into the enemy ranks.

[Chidori!]

Using the targeting feature of his monocle, Kakashi dashed at high speed toward locked-on enemies for instant kills.

"What the heck? Why did I end up suddenly at the frontlines?! Now my original plan to slack off at the very rear of our forces is ruined..."

Shindai grew increasingly speechless.

At this point, the battlefield had stretched into a long horizontal line. The center section was where intense battles occurred—fought by elite-level ninjas like Minato Namikaze.

Shindai and his companions found themselves on one side of this line—not quite as chaotic as the center, but still fiercely engaged.

Even though many enemies had been killed by traps, the allied Sand Village and Cloud Village ninja forces still outnumbered them significantly.

Well, several ninjas were charging at him with killing intent.

Shindai got into position. "Hey, you really think I'm just gonna stand here and let you push me around like a pushover!"

Shindai leaped backward in an enormous retreat, moving a significant distance away.

Earlier, a Konoha ninja standing near Shindai had heard his fierce words and assumed Shindai was about to launch a counterattack. But he never expected Shindai would actually retreat instead, leaving the Konoha ninja stunned and staring blankly.

Although Shindai retreated, he left Kannazuki behind at the original spot.

"I'll skewer you like shish kebabs!"

[Kannazuki - Iron Sand World Method!]

From within Kannazuki's body, countless sharp iron sand spikes instantly shot out, piercing through all the ninjas approaching him.

The Konoha ninja who had earlier thought Shindai was just a coward too afraid to fight stared blankly.

So strong?

Shindai's fingers moved extremely fast as the iron sand spikes retracted back into Kannazuki's body.

"Kannazuki! Missile Barrage!"

His entire right arm transformed into a cannon barrel. Through Raikō Ken, five projectiles were instantly loaded into five cannon mouths.

As the barrels rotated, these small projectiles rocketed toward the cluster of enemies.

Once finished firing, he instantly reloaded another five projectiles and continued launching them, blowing the Sand and Cloud ninjas all over the place.

"Aha! Firepower is justice! Taste my bombardment!"

Shindai laughed arrogantly.

But this laughter stopped abruptly after only a few seconds.

Because Obito was sprinting straight toward him.

Obito yelled at Shindai with twisted features: "Shindai! Rescue me!"

Behind Obito, more than a dozen ninjas were chasing hard.

"Woah! What did you do to get so many people after you?!"

Shindai formed hand seals with both hands and pressed them to the ground.

A mass of iron sand rose from the earth, instantly enveloping Obito before quickly pulling him toward Shindai through magnetic force.

When Shindai released the iron sand, Obito exhaled in relief. "Phew, saved myself some Dojutsu usage."

"You idiot, this isn't the time to be breathing easy yet. They're coming straight for us!"

Shindai formed hand seals again with both hands while Obito hastily did the same.

[Magnet Release: Iron Sand Drizzle!]

[Fire Release: Flame Bullet!]

Shindai's iron sand projectiles and Obito's flame, resembling seeds from a firebird flower, shot toward the incoming ninjas, turning those opponents into sieves.

Excitedly, Obito said to Shindai, "Shindai, since there are so many enemies, let's use that move!"

"Tch, if you're so eager to use it, go ahead then."

After forming hand seals, Shindai pressed both palms together.

[Magnet Release: Iron Sand Spinning Top!]

Shindai concentrated his iron sand into a pyramid-shaped spinning top, which appeared above the enemy ninjas' position and stood upright, rotating rapidly.

Obito formed hand seals and placed his right hand in front of his mouth.

[Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu!]

The moment Obito's flames struck the spinning top midair, the fire scattered outward, hitting the ninjas below.

Obito laughed even more arrogantly than Shindai had. "Ahahaha! With the two of us working together, we're invincible!"

Shindai twitched his lips. "Please! Your arrogance license has been officially revoked—you're not allowed to laugh like that anymore! Huh, where'd Kakashi go? He vanished! Teamwork was promised, but our captain just disappeared—worst service ever! Later, I'm firing him as team leader!"

With his Spinning Three-Tomoe Sharingan activated, Obito's vision sharpened incredibly, instantly spotting Kakashi.

"There he is!" Obito pointed toward the front-left. "We need to hurry—we've gotta help Kakashi!"

Shindai looked over and saw Kakashi was already surrounded.

Kakashi had fought too aggressively, drawing attention from many enemy ninja.

Kakashi glared grimly at the Cloud Ninja and Sand Ninja surrounding him, signaling for Obito and Shindai to flank him—where were those two?!

Is that all he was—a mascot captain?! Where's the teamwork we promised? Gone?!

Just when a figure appeared in front of Kakashi, he broke into a smile.

It was Shindai's Kannazuki.

But soon, Kakashi lost his smile.

Because Kannazuki immediately tripped Kakashi and stomped him down, then used the [Iron Sand World Method] to impale all the surrounding ninjas in one sweep.
