Naruto: The Senju Patriarch

One day earlier…

Dan was proud of himself. For the past 3 weeks, despite him supposedly being at high risk, he had carried out his missions very successfully, and slowly but surely, been bridging the gap in numbers between Konoha and Suna shinobi, and he'd taken out many Jonin too. 

As Dan, in his spirit form, was moving around, searching for Suna shinobi, he thought to himself.

Maybe I should ask the commander to remove a team from my guard, he mused. I don't need it, and more shinobi on the battlefield would probably end the war sooner. 

Without even realising it, Dan over time had been getting more comfortable and less wary, carrying out riskier manoeuvres.

Suddenly, he heard voices.

"We should get to Team 10," said the first voice. 

"Yes, Lord Third!" multiple voices replied.

It's the Kazekage! Dan thought. I'm meant to go back to my body now, but I can't waste an opportunity like this - if I eliminate the Kazekage now, we'll definitely win the war! 

Dan's spirit moved, and possessed a ninja standing far enough away from the Kazekage to not be spotted but close enough that he would be able to reach him with lethal intent. For a brief moment, the shinobi's spirit fought back against his own, but Dan was able to suppress it, and continued moving along normally at the back of the Kazekage's squad, hoping to hear more intel. However, the squad was silent, and Dan began to get antsy. The longer I stay out, the higher the chance is that someone finds my body. It doesn't seem like they're going to say anything, and I can't afford to waste anymore time - I'm doing it - now!

Dan, in the possessed shinobi's body, suddenly rushed at the Kazekage from behind, throwing numerous kunai at his vitals.

However, before they could strike, a wall of iron sand blocked them. Before Dan could react any further, the Kazekage turned.

"Magnetic Style: Iron Sand Drizzle!" 

Multiple iron sand bullets pierced the possessed shinobi's body, ending his life almost instantly. How did he detect me? Dan thought, panicking as his spirit left the dead body. How ruthless is this Kazekage? He killed one of his own men without a shred of hesitation?

As Dan started to retreat back towards his body, he heard the Kazekage shout.

"All teams, find him now!", as they began to give chase to Dan's spirit.

No! I can't let them find my body - the Kazekage will destroy the teams protecting me in an instant! I need to get there as fast as I can!

Meanwhile, the shinobi guarding Dan's body had had enough. He was meant to come back a while ago now, and they didn't know where he was.

"What if he failed his mission, and he's trying to come back to his body now?" one shinobi asked. 

"We should carry his body and leave - Dan can find us afterwards!"

"No, we should stay and wait - his Jutsu requires a lot of chakra, and if he spends too much time trying to find us, he might die!"

Unbeknown to the Konoha shinobi, as they argued, a group of Suna shinobi had found them. The Konoha shinobi's voices, normally quiet, were now shouting, and their chakra, normally concealed, was now riled up from their argument, allowing the Suna shinobi to find them. But it wasn't any old group of Suna shinobi - they were led by Rasa, the gold dust user, known for his ruthlessness on the battlefield.

As he gave the signal, his team struck, beginning their attack.

The Konoha shinobi finally sensed the chakra presences of the Suna shinobi, and immediately prepared for battle, but it was too late.

Rasa's team was smaller than theirs, yes, but composed of all Elite Jonin, who, with their experience and skill, far outmatched Konoha's. It was a team made for this very moment. The first team of Suna shinobi engaged the Konoha shinobi, while the second and third surrounded Dan's body.

The first team managed to hold the Suna shinobi for a short while, while the others tried to pick up Dan's body and flee. For a second, it seemed like there was hope of escape.

Suddenly, a wave of gold dust came crashing down onto the first team of Konoha shinobi, threatening to crush them to death, and moments later, a shinboi wearing Suna colours with auburn hair stepped onto the gold dust. 

"I-It's Rasa!" 

"Third team, hurry up and get Dan's body out of here now! We'll hold h-" 

But his speech was prevented by being forced to dodge the attack of the gold sand moving towards him.

As the second team engaged the enemy, the third team took Dan's body and tried to escape as fast as they could, back to the main camp.

"You all stay here, and keep these Shinobi busy," Rasa ordered, "I will eliminate Kato Dan."

With that, the gold dust user began his chase of Dan's body. The few Konoha shinobi that tried to stop him were met with gold dust forcing them to retreat, and the rest of the Konoha shinobi desperately engaged the Suna shinobi, hoping to defeat them quickly and help the others. But just as Rasa was leaving, they saw the arrival of a presence shrouded in the Iron sand that had haunted their predecessors and crushed any little hope they had. 

The shinobi who had come with the Kazekage joined the fight, and after a brief talk with one of the Jonin in Rasa's squad the Kazekage and a few more Shinobi instantly gave chase following Rasa.

Rasa's constant harassment with tendrils of gold dust against Dan's bodyguard squad, who were significantly slowed down from carrying Dan's body, allowed the Kazekage and his group to catch up.

The combined might of both Magnet style users and the sand Shinobi picked off the Konoha shinobi who were desperately trying to escape.

Eventually, the team was whittled down to 5, and one of the Konoha Chunin turned back to try and delay them, but to barely any avail. Rasa only stopped for a second before submerging the Jonin in gold dust, the pressure killing him instantly.

Suddenly however, from a distance, a Konoha shinobi made out a figure.

"It's Dan!" she shouted, grabbing the attention of all parties. Seeing this, the Kazekage was less than pleased at the prospect of Dan escaping. We can't let him escape!

Using his Iron sand, he propelled himself forward, rushing at the Konoha shinobi with even greater speed, but it was too late.

Dan's body and spirit made contact, and he was back in action, running away from Rasa. The Konoha shinobi were faster now, without having to carry a body, and they moved away quickly. 

But the Kazekage was much closer now than the chase a few weeks ago.

Summoning all his Iron Sand, he made the hand signs.

"Magnet Style: Iron Sand Wave!" 

An impossible tsunami of Iron sand joined by gold dust rushed at the Konoha shinobi from behind. Its speed was so great that they had no time to react, and even if they could, it was hopeless. There was no room to dodge, no room to run, as they were trapped in an endless cocoon of Iron, killing most of the shinobi.

Dan and the one other surviving shinobi tried their best to move - to escape, or just to make handsigns, but it was futile. The Iron sand was too heavy and had too much force, immobilising them beyond their capabilities.

Tsunade… Lord Sakumo… I'm sorry. It looks like I'll have to leave the rest to -

"Magnet Style: Gold Dust Imperial Funeral!" "Magnet Style: Iron Sand Iron Maiden!"

Those were the last words Dan heard.

The gold dust and iron sand tightened, creating an enormous, crushing pressure, leaving no hope of survival for its victims.

Kato Dan was dead.
