NBA Skills: Dominating Kuroko no Basket

Chapter 19: Lightning Dribble

Hayama frowned deeply, his eyes locked on Shiro, disbelief written all over his face.

'His defense… it's flawless, no openings at all!'

On the other side, Shiro focused intently on his opponent, his long arms radiating an overwhelming presence, making it impossible for Hayama to relax.

Hayama took a small step back, preparing to dribble past him. He slammed the ball hard with his right hand, quickly stepping back, then followed with a fake shot.

However, Shiro wasn't fooled for a second. He knew Hayama's shooting wasn't top-tier—especially not from three-point range.

Seeing that his fake didn't work, Hayama made a sharp decision. He crossed over to the left, shifting the ball to his other hand, then launched himself forward at full speed.

But Shiro's reflexes were razor-sharp. He stepped in immediately to cut off Hayama's drive, blocking his path with precision.

Hayama clenched his teeth and unleashed a non-stop crossover, switching the ball back to his right hand, changing direction in an instant.

Just then, Shiro's calm voice reached Hayama's ears:

"If that's all you've got, this ball's mine"

Without hesitation, Shiro stretched out his left hand like a lightning bolt, cleanly stripping the ball from Hayama's grasp.

Eyes wide with disbelief, Hayama gasped, "He stole it... just like that?" But rather than wallowing in shock, he immediately sprinted after Shiro, determined to recover.

Shiro moved with fluidity, his movements smooth and seamless, streaking toward the opposing basket like a flash of silver.

The crowd hadn't even reacted yet, but Hayama was chasing him with everything he had, desperately trying to close the gap.

No matter how hard he pushed, though, the distance between them remained unchanged.

In the blink of an eye, Shiro was under the hoop. He leaped into the air, executing a majestic windmill dunk, his body twisting gracefully as he slammed the ball through the net.

BANG!

The rim shuddered under the force of the dunk, groaning loudly as it struggled to hold steady.

The arena erupted with deafening cheers.

"That was insane!"

"Incredible! That dunk was unreal!"

Shiro allowed himself a small smirk, his eyes brimming with confidence and pride. He looked down at Hayama, who was still recovering from the play, as if he had already won the battle.

Without missing a beat, Shiro turned and dashed back to his side of the court, a gust of wind trailing behind him.

Hayama gritted his teeth in frustration, his anger flaring.

'He's mocking me! I won't let him get away with this—I'll make sure he knows who he's messing with!'

Determined, Hayama hustled back to midcourt and signaled for the ball. The point guard hesitated for a second, but ultimately trusted his teammate, sending a sharp pass Hayama's way.

Even though Shiro had shut him down earlier, Hayama's teammates knew they needed him to make a comeback.

Catching the ball near the left wing of the three-point line, Hayama didn't attack immediately. Instead, he kept a close eye on Shiro's movements, analyzing his defensive stance for any weak spots.

Meanwhile, Shiro remained just as focused. He bent his knees slightly, lowering his center of gravity, spreading his arms wide like the wings of a hawk. The sheer intensity of his presence made it feel like Hayama was facing an impenetrable wall.

Hayama dribbled slowly at first, testing the waters.

Thump... thump... thump... thump!

The sound of the ball echoed loudly across the court, like the rumble of distant thunder, drawing the crowd's attention.

"So this is the legendary Lightning Dribble?" Shiro muttered, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Let's see how strong the 'Uncrowned Kings' really are"

Hayama's gaze sharpened.

"I know you're good, Shiro. But today, I'm bringing my best—try stopping this!"

In the blink of an eye, Hayama shifted his weight and crossed over to the right, moving with blinding speed, like a streak of golden lightning. He left Shiro behind in an instant, streaking toward the basket with a ferocious drive.

"No way! That's Hayama's Lightning Dribble!"

"He really broke through Shiro's defense! That speed is terrifying!"

The crowd buzzed with excitement, struggling to believe what they had just witnessed. On the bench, Momoi stood up, her fists clenched tightly, her face full of worry.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Teiko team wore expressions of disbelief—it was the first time they'd seen Shiro get beaten so cleanly.

But one player was grinning with excitement: Aomine. His eyes sparkled with fiery anticipation.

"Man, this is getting good! He even got past Shiro. I've got to go one-on-one with him next"

Shiro, trailing behind Hayama, was momentarily stunned. His wide eyes betrayed his shock:

'He actually got through...'

But his surprise only lasted a second. A wild grin spread across his face.

'Finally! A real challenge!'

Without wasting a moment, Shiro sprinted forward, his silver streak cutting through the court like lightning.

Hayama sensed the danger behind him and glanced over his shoulder, his heart skipping a beat.

'Already? How did he catch up so fast?!'

In a flash, Shiro was right beside him, arms outstretched like a net, suffocating Hayama's every move.

With his path blocked, Hayama bit down hard, determination flashing in his eyes. He gathered the ball, ready to power through for a layup.

Just then, a hulking figure emerged from the paint—Murasakibara.

Abandoning his mark, Murasakibara leaped into the air like an eagle taking flight, his massive hand poised for a devastating block.

Hayama's expression twisted in frustration. Desperately, he spotted an opening—just a fleeting crack in the defense—and fired a sharp pass to his team's center, lurking behind Murasakibara.

The center caught the ball mid-jump, preparing for a dunk, but Murasakibara reacted instantly. His towering frame rocketed upward again, determined to stop the shot.

Yet the opposing center wasn't fazed. With a quick adjustment, he switched to a smooth reverse layup, narrowly dodging the block.

The ball danced on the rim, teetering for what felt like an eternity.

Finally, with a soft swish, it dropped through the net.
