On September 20, the weather was good. It was the third day since returning from Electric Valley.
Bruce had just finished class when the phone in his pocket began vibrating furiously. It was Jessica calling.
"Aren't you in class?" Jessica's voice sounded through the phone.
"I just finished," Bruce replied.
"There's something I need to tell you. If you have time, come to the school's team room now. I need to say it in person," Jessica said.
Bruce was a bit surprised, but he nodded. "I'll be there right now."
After hanging up and saying goodbye to Neron, Bruce went straight to the school's team room.
Not long after, Bruce arrived at the team room, and Jessica was already waiting inside.
"Brother, do you remember the last time we went to the suburbs and ran into the disciples from Doom Dojo?" Jessica asked, getting straight to the point.
"I remember." Bruce had a strong impression of them.
Jessica nodded and continued, "Just now, one of the psychics from Doom Dojo contacted me. He invited you to visit and study at Doom Dojo."
"Cousin?" Bruce asked, puzzled. "Invite me?"
Jessica smiled and explained, "This senior is the strongest among the younger generation at Doom Dojo. At the same time, he's the close disciple of Master Doom, a professional trainer and an extraordinarily talented psychic. He has quite a reputation."
Bruce had heard of Master Doom, the head of Doom Dojo and a master trainer.
"Although it's the senior extending the invitation, it must be with Master Doom's approval."
Then Jessica paused for a moment and added, "They also invited me to visit and study at Doom Dojo when I was a freshman.
"It's just that I wasn't very interested in Psychic, and my Psychic talent was low, so I simply visited."
"But you're different," Jessica said, looking at Bruce seriously.
"You're a true psychic. After you arrive at Doom Dojo, Master Doom will certainly teach you the Calm Mind method of Doom Dojo and some psychic skills."
"Why?" Bruce frowned, asking aloud.
There are no free favors in this world.
When Jessica heard this, she nodded approvingly and then chuckled, "Because of your grandfather."
"As the only elite Psychic in Avalon, his influence is beyond what we can imagine."
"But there's no doubt about one thing." Jessica raised her index finger and smiled, "If Grandpa were to abandon his neutral stance and accept Doom Dojo's favor, Doom Dojo would become the largest Psychic Dojo in the country, surpassing Lunaris Dojo in the south."
Bruce nodded thoughtfully, then asked, "Cousin, I have two questions."
"Go ahead."
"First, if I accept the Calm Mind method taught by Master Doom, does that mean Grandpa is accepting Doom Dojo's offer?"
"Second, we're a Psychic family after all, don't we have our own Calm Mind method?"
The first question was crucial, and the second had been on his mind for some time.
When she heard these two questions, Jessica was stunned for a moment. After thinking it over carefully, she shook her head. "Why don't you ask your father directly?"
Hearing this, Bruce thought for a moment, then took out his phone and dialed William's number.
Beep-beep-beep.
The call connected quickly.
"Hello, what's up?" William's voice sounded over the phone.
Bruce first told him about the invitation from Doom Dojo and then shared his two questions with William.
After he finished, William's hearty laugh came from the other end of the line, "It's very good that you're considering these two points."
Then William spoke briefly before answering, "To the first question: you can't represent your grandfather in this instance; you only represent yourself."
"If Master Doom teaches you the Calm Mind method, it will only represent a personal favor to you, not to your grandfather."
"With your grandfather's current status, no one can represent him."
"My suggestion is that you accept the invitation. The Calm Mind method has some value, but it doesn't imply a significant favor."
William paused, then laughed heartily. "When you go south in the future, there's a high chance that Lunaris Dojo will show kindness as well. They'll be next."
"After all, that's how your grandfather got where he is."
"Showing kindness doesn't mean courting; it just means they don't want to be hostile toward you. You need to remember that."
Bruce nodded quietly as he listened to these words.
"As for the second question, it's even simpler. We're not a family with hundreds of years of heritage. Our rise is thanks to your grandfather."
"He was just an ordinary psychic when he was young, but due to his extraordinary talent and hard work, he became an elite of his generation."
"He alone couldn't have created a new Calm Mind method in just a few decades."
"You know, after the initial formulation of the Calm Mind method by the psychics of Doom and Lunaris, it took several years of continuous revision and improvement to become what it is today."
"Also, your grandfather already mastered both Calm Mind methods, but he couldn't pass them down directly."
"Moreover, your grandfather also said that he's the leader of our family, and he only played a pioneering role. The true legacy depends on the younger generations."
"If the younger generations are strong, they'll naturally create our own Calm Mind method."
"If the younger generation is incompetent and the family declines within a few decades, demanding the Calm Mind method would only add to the disaster."
After listening to these words in silence, Bruce and Jessica both felt the pride and independence of John Bayne.
"Any other questions?" William's voice sounded again.
Bruce shook his head and said, "None."
"Good, that's it." William was about to hang up when he suddenly remembered something and quickly added, "Have you participated in the freshman exchange competition?"
"I did."
"Alright, then your mother and I look forward to your performance." William hung up after saying that.
Jessica looked at Bruce and sighed, "Grandfather is so incredible... he established a family all by himself."
Bruce nodded deeply. "Yes..."
"So, are you going to accept Doom Dojo's invitation?" Jessica asked.
Without further hesitation, Bruce nodded and said, "I'll accept."
"Then I'll let them know," Jessica said.
Then Jessica called the senior from Doom Dojo and told him that Bruce had accepted the invitation.
She then gave Bruce the senior's contact information.
Bruce added him, and the friend request was quickly accepted.
[Hello, I'm Nicholas Pércovich, a disciple of Doom Dojo.]
[Please be at the school gate at 9:30 tomorrow morning, and I, Yu, will personally pick you up.]
[Is this time convenient for you?]
Bruce thought for a moment and replied that it was no problem.
After chatting with Jessica for a while, Bruce returned to his dorm.
As he sat in his chair, Bruce saw a message from Alice.
[Are you there?]
[I'm here.] Bruce replied.
[I have something to ask you. Do you have a library card?]
Before Bruce could answer, her next message appeared in the chatbox.
[Yes, I'm currently learning about the theoretical knowledge of Pokémon genes and evolution on my own, but there isn't any relevant information in the textbooks, and there are very few books in the library on this subject.]
Everyone knows that a school library's scale and quality of books are directly related to the school's reputation.
Kunlun University's book collection is, of course, better than our own.
Seeing this message, Bruce was a bit surprised.
"Knowledge related to Pokémon genes and evolution... isn't this beyond the current scope of knowledge?"
"Amazing..."
With a slight sigh in his heart, Bruce tapped the screen to send a message.
[Sure, when do you need it?]
[Is now alright? I'll come to your school.]
[No problem, I'll wait for you at the library entrance.]
[Sorry for the trouble.]
Bruce put his phone back in his pocket, took his library card out of the cabinet, and prepared to leave the dorm.
Seeing this, Neron, who was playing a game, looked up and casually asked, "Hey, Bruce, you just got back; why are you heading out again?"
"A friend from another school asked to borrow my library card," Bruce replied.
"Friend from another school..." Neron murmured. His eyes brightened, and he quickly asked, "Is it a guy or a girl?"
"A girl," Bruce replied bluntly.
"A girl..." Neron's eyes sparkled slightly as he said, "I remember you usually go to the library to look up information. Won't this interrupt your studies?"
Bruce shook his head, "It's fine; she won't need it often."
Upon hearing this, Neron said solemnly, "Even if it's only a few times, there's a limit to the number of books you can check out, and you can only borrow up to five books at a time."
"Here, take my library card as well; I don't need it anyway."
As soon as he finished speaking, Neron put down his phone, searched for his library card in the cabinet, and handed it to Bruce.eBruce hesitated for a moment, then took the borrowed card and said, "Thanks."
"Hey, thanks for this little thing, go fast, go fast." Neron pushed Bruce out of the bedroom.
Watching Bruce's figure walk away, Neron shook his head and sighed softly, "I really enjoy helping others."
By the time Bruce reached the library, Alice was already standing quietly in the doorway.
Although the clothes and pants she wore were not flashy, the graceful curve of her waist was very striking and attracted a lot of attention.
When Bruce stood in front of her, Alice was devoured by the huge enveloping black shadow, and Alice, still lowering her eyes and looking at the floor, knew of Bruce's arrival.
"Is it that early?" asked Bruce aloud.
"It is." Alice raised her head, looked into Bruce's clear eyes, and said quietly, "It's not very far.
Bruce smiled, pulled his loan card out of his pocket and handed it to her.
"Give."
Alice took it and then said, "I'll pay you back tomorrow."
Bruce smiled, shook her hands and replied, "That's okay, you can use it anyway, my roommate gave me his."
"He's one of those people who doesn't come into the library once a semester," Bruce added.
"Oh." Alice nodded like a kitten and then said, "Thanks 550."
Bruce smiled, "That's okay, I don't like formalities, Solaceon is better.
"Come on, I just want to come in."
This is true, Bruce has recently been researching how to make a gravity practice room.
The principle of this is very complicated and it is necessary to consult various materials and try again and again.
Since I have a good psychic, I naturally want to use it to the extreme.
Bruce and Alice entered the library, found the books they were reading and looked for a place to sit.
The library is very quiet, everyone is immersed in the world of books, only the occasional whispering sound of books being passed by can be heard.
Such an environment is the most suitable for attentive reading.
So no one wants to take the book into the bedroom unless absolutely necessary.
The learning environment in the bedroom...you know everything.
The two didn't talk, let alone argue quietly, they read their books in silence.
After an unknown amount of time, Bruce lifted his head to rest his gaze and saw that Alice was still immersed in the world of the book.
She frowned tenderly for a moment.
After a while, she showed a sudden expression, and the expression on her face was much richer than usual.
Bruce smiled and, after resting for a while, lowered his head again.
Three hours later,
Bruce and Alice came out of the library side by side.
"How are you, did you win anything today?" asked Bruce with initiative.
Alice nodded slightly and with a strange twinkle in her eye replied, "The harvest is excellent.
Immediately after, she frowned slightly and said quietly, "But there are a lot of theories I don't understand."
Hearing this, Bruce smiled aloud and said, "Isn't this very normal?"
Seeing Alice's slightly puzzled look, Bruce explained, "We are all freshmen just entering college and there must be a lot of things we don't understand.
"But learning is such a process, from nothing to something, from shallow to deep, from ignorance to knowledge."
"Come on, I'm optimistic about you, future Pokémon researcher," laughed Bruce.
"Mmm!"
Alice nodded heavily, her dark eyes glittering slightly.
"Okay, let's hurry back," Bruce motioned to Alice, ready to turn and leave.
"Thank you," Alice said again.
Unexpectedly, Bruce turned around abruptly, stared at Alice's exquisite face and said earnestly, "Student Alice, it would be polite to say thank you."
"Between friends there is no need for such formalities."
