Chapter 53: Yamask
Haru was training with his Pokémon in the early morning light, a perfect day for some intense practice. Gible, although still relatively young, was doing its best to keep up with the other members of Haru's team. Each of his Pokémon had been trained diligently, and Haru gave instructions with his usual intensity, focusing on each move and technique.
As he observed his Pokémon from a distance, Haru decided to test their awareness, sending out a powerful burst of Aura to sense any hidden movements. His trained senses could pick up even the smallest of disturbances. Haru stopped momentarily and took a deep breath.
"Come out, I know you're there," Haru spoke, his voice steady and calm, though his eyes scanned the surroundings intently.
Swampert, Meowth, and the rest of his team stopped what they were doing, turning their attention toward Haru. Electivire and Houndoom had been engaged in a friendly sparring match, but they ceased as well. Scizor, who had been teaching Gible the finer points of battle, paused too. Even the large Ursaring and Teddiursa, who had been training together, stopped and looked toward Haru with curiosity.
Haru walked forward, focusing his senses further. His eyes closed briefly, as he channeled his Aura through his body, covering himself in a cloak of energy. "Found you," he said with a smirk as he could now see clearly through his Aura.
From the shadows, a sudden burst of speed revealed the source—a flash of silver. Scizor attacked swiftly, using its signature move, X-Scizor, but the target was quick to avoid the strike. In the next moment, the figure revealed itself: a shiny Yamask.
Haru's expression shifted to one of recognition as the ghost-type Pokémon hovered before him, its mask glowing eerily in the dim light.
"Wait… are you the same one I saved from the Team Rocket Base?" Haru asked, his voice softening with surprise and curiosity.
The shiny Yamask floated for a moment, as if considering the question. Its eyes met Haru's, and a faint flicker of recognition seemed to pass through the ghostly Pokémon.
Haru recalled the day he had first encountered this Yamask, back when Team Rocket had been using it in one of their schemes. He had freed it, sensing the pain and fear in the Pokémon's spirit. Haru had hoped the little creature had found peace since then, but now here it was, appearing once more before him, as if fate had drawn them together again.
"You're safe now," Haru murmured, taking a step forward as his Pokémon, sensing the sincerity in his voice, relaxed around him.
Yamask drifted slightly closer to Haru, and Haru extended a hand, careful not to startle it. It hovered just within reach, its mask reflecting the light of the morning sun.
"Would you like to join us?" Haru asked quietly, unsure if the Pokémon would accept his offer once more. It was a significant moment, especially considering the bond they had formed during their previous encounter.
His team watched, waiting for Yamask's response, and in that moment, Haru felt a deeper connection to the ghostly Pokémon, one that went beyond mere battle. It was as if the Pokémon understood the unspoken words between them—words of trust, protection, and healing.
Yamask hovered in place, its glowing mask reflecting the light from the sun. For a long moment, the air was still, the only sound being the soft rustling of leaves and the occasional chirp of distant wild Pokémon. Haru held his breath, unsure of what to expect.
Then, Yamask slowly floated toward him, its eyes locking with Haru's. The ghostly Pokémon gave a faint nod, and for the first time since their initial encounter, it seemed at peace. The mask on Yamask's face gleamed, and for a brief instant, Haru felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude emanating from the spirit Pokémon.
A smile tugged at Haru's lips. "So, you do want to join the team again," he said softly. "I'm glad. I'll make sure you're safe this time."
The team, sensing the shift in energy, relaxed even further. Scizor, who had initially been on guard, approached and gave a respectful bow to the newly appeared Pokémon, as if acknowledging its decision. Gible, still eager to train, bounced on its feet with excitement, while Swampert gave an approving grunt. Houndoom, always the stoic one, nodded as well, as if to welcome the new addition.
Meowth, ever the curious one, looked up at Haru and then at Yamask. "Well, look at that, boss. You've got a ghost now. That's gonna be fun."
Haru chuckled, reaching into his bag to pull out a Poké Ball. "Alright then, Yamask. If you want to join us, let's make it official."
He tossed the Poké Ball, and Yamask, sensing no threat, floated gracefully into it. The ball shook once, then twice, and then the familiar click of a successful capture echoed in the air.
Haru smiled, looking down at the Poké Ball in his hand. "Welcome to the team, Yamask."
The rest of the Pokémon cheered in their own ways, and Haru felt a sense of fulfillment settle over him. With Yamask now officially a part of his team, Haru could feel that his journey was continuing to evolve—one step at a time, one bond at a time.
The next day, Haru made sure to give Yamask plenty of time to adjust to its new environment. The team was relaxed and at ease as they trained together, with Yamask fitting in surprisingly well. The ghost-type Pokémon, while quiet, had an almost serene presence that seemed to balance out the more energetic members of Haru's team, like Meowth and Gible.
Haru found himself reflecting on his growing team. Each of his Pokémon had its own unique qualities, and they were slowly becoming more than just partners—they were family. And with each addition, Haru knew he was one step closer to achieving his goals.
Later that afternoon, Haru sat on a rock near a flowing river, watching his Pokémon practice their moves. Gible was training with Scizor, who was teaching the young dragon-type how to refine its moves with precision. Swampert and Houndoom were having a friendly tug-of-war competition, while Meowth lazily laid on the grass, watching them with half-closed eyes.
Yamask floated nearby, watching the others with a curious yet reserved expression. It hadn't joined in on the training yet, but Haru was content to let it take its time. Some Pokémon needed space to adjust, and he wasn't about to rush that process.
"Hey, Yamask," Haru called, waving the Pokémon over. "You can join in, you know. Scizor's teaching Gible some new moves, and I think you'd be a great help."
Yamask hesitated for a moment but then floated over toward Haru. The aura surrounding the ghostly Pokémon seemed to shimmer as it approached, and for a moment, Haru could feel a subtle energy in the air.
"You've been through a lot, huh?" Haru asked, looking at the Pokémon with understanding. "But we've got a strong team now. I promise we'll keep you safe. And, who knows, maybe you'll teach us a thing or two about ghost-type moves."
Yamask floated closer and gently tapped its mask, as if acknowledging Haru's words. Haru couldn't help but smile again. He knew that Yamask wasn't just a Pokémon he had rescued—it was a partner that had chosen to walk with him once more.
With that, the two of them shared a quiet moment, watching the team continue their training. Haru's bond with his Pokémon was growing stronger with each passing day, and he could feel the weight of his journey ahead, knowing that with each new addition, each new connection, he was one step closer to his ultimate goal.
The road to the Johto League would be filled with challenges, but Haru felt more confident than ever that, with his team by his side, they could face whatever came their way. And who knew—perhaps there were even more surprises in store, just waiting for him to discover.
Later that day in Haru house, as everyone was eating Violet just looked at the shiny Yamask out of all of Haru sister only her and Tade Ai stayed, the other 5 had there worlds to do.
Violet just looked at her brother as she spoke. "Do I even wanna know how you got that Yamask"
James looked at her finishing his food. "Do you want a Long or short explanation".
Violet just sighed as she spoke. "I wouldn't want an explanation at this point on how my Brother got a Pokémon from the the East".
Haru smirked at Violet's comment, leaning back in his chair while taking a sip of his drink. "Oh, come on, Violet. You make it sound like I always bring back weird surprises."
Violet raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "You do always bring back weird surprises. First, it was that oversized Gyarados, then the Teddiursa that decided to stick around, and now a shiny Yamask from the East? What's next, a Lugia?"
Tade-Ai giggled, her fork clinking against her plate as she ate. "Big Brother could probably pull that off. He has a knack for finding the rarest things without even trying."
James, feeling the need to defend his partner, chimed in with a laugh. "To be fair, Violet, this one kinda just showed up. And it's shiny, so it was clearly meant to be. Haru's got that main-character luck, you know?"
Meowth, perched on the counter with a small bowl of berries, grinned. "Yeah, kid's got somethin' goin' for him. Shiny Pokémon don't just float into your life unless you're special!"
Violet rubbed her temples, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Special. Right. That's the word for it." She glanced at Yamask, who was quietly floating near Haru. The shiny ghost Pokémon was calmly observing the group, its golden sheen catching the light from the room. "I'll give you this—at least it's not causing chaos like Gible."
At the mention of its name, Gible, sitting near Haru's feet, perked up and let out a playful cry before chowing down on its food with gusto.
Haru grinned at Violet. "See? Yamask is calm, Gible's just enthusiastic, and Gyarados hasn't destroyed anything in days. I think I'm doing pretty well."
Violet gave him a deadpan look. "That's a low bar, Haru."
Tade-Ai tried to mediate, her tone cheerful. "But it's still progress, right, Violet? Besides, Yamask seems really nice. Maybe it'll help keep Gible in line."
Violet shook her head, finally giving in with a small smile. "You're too optimistic, Tade-Ai. But fine, I'll admit this one seems... manageable. Just don't let it turn the house into some haunted mansion or something."
Haru chuckled, giving Yamask a small pat on its mask. "Don't worry, Violet. Yamask and I have an understanding. Besides, I think it'll fit in perfectly with the team."
As the evening continued, the group settled into a more relaxed mood, with Jessie and James recounting exaggerated tales of their past adventures, Meowth chiming in with his own humorous remarks. Tade-Ai hung on every word, her eyes sparkling with fascination, while Violet maintained her usual skeptical demeanor but couldn't hide the occasional smirk.
Yamask, still floating quietly near Haru, seemed to observe the lively scene with a serene curiosity. For the first time in a long while, it felt like it had found a place where it belonged.
As the laughter and chatter filled the house, Haru leaned back with a content sigh, thinking to himself. This journey is only getting more interesting. And with my team and family by my side, I think I can handle whatever comes next.
Haru then spoke as he looked at James. "So where is Casey".
Jessie then spoke as she helped Violet with cleaning plates. "Went o get 4 more badge for the Gym league".
Haru then drinks his water. "See the training I did with her I say 5 days".
James leaned back in his chair, folding his arms with a smirk. "Five days, huh? You really think she's gonna breeze through four gyms that fast?"
Haru nodded confidently. "If she sticks to the strategy we worked on, she'll have no problem. She's got the skills; she just needed to polish her approach."
Jessie, stacking plates with Violet, glanced over her shoulder. "Knowing Casey, she's probably already halfway through the first two gyms by now. That girl's got determination for days, especially after the way you've been pushing her, Haru."
Violet shook her head, still unconvinced. "You really think she can handle four gym leaders in five days? Even for someone as driven as Casey, that's a bit much, don't you think?"
Haru smiled, his confidence unwavering. "Trust me, Violet. She's tougher than she looks. Besides, it's not just about strength—it's about strategy and adaptability. She's got both now."
Meowth chimed in, perched on the counter as he finished his snack. "If she's half as determined as Haru here, she might just pull it off. Still, dat kinda pace is gonna be a grind. Hope she's got the stamina for it."
James chuckled, leaning forward with a playful grin. "Knowing Casey, she'll come back in less than five days just to prove Haru wrong. She's got that competitive streak, after all."
Tade-Ai clapped her hands together, her voice brimming with optimism. "I think she'll do great! Big Brother's training is the best, and Casey's super strong. I bet she'll be back with four shiny badges in no time!"
Jessie smirked, placing the last plate in the sink. "Well, if she pulls it off, Haru might have to treat her to something special. Maybe a rare Pokéball or even another training session with the legendary Haru himself."
Haru chuckled, shaking his head. "If she does it, she's earned whatever reward she wants. But I won't hold back in her next training session. She's aiming for the league, and she needs to be ready for anything."
Violet rolled her eyes but smiled faintly. "You and your overconfidence. Let's just hope she doesn't burn herself out trying to meet your expectations."
Haru leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful look crossing his face. "She won't. Casey's tougher than people give her credit for. She's got the heart of a champion."
As the conversation shifted to lighter topics, Haru couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in Casey's progress. She'd come a long way since they first met, and he knew she had the potential to go even further. All that was left now was to wait and see just how far her determination would take her.
In that of city names Sapphire city in the Johto league, the current Gym leader a man in his 30th with blue hair and wearing an all blue outfit was figthing Casey.
Casey was using a Pokémon the man had never seen as it strikes down the man's final Pokémon, the man returned his Pokéball.
The man just sighed. "I am getting too old for this".
Casey just laughed. "I don't think so".
The man looked at her. "Will at least your taking on the Gym League so I got to use my 8 badge team miss, and glad to see there will be a new strong Gym leader in Johto".
Casey laughed as she looked at the man. "Yeah, only if win that is".
The man gave a small chuckle, shaking his head as he walked over to Casey. "You've got the spirit, I'll give you that. And with a team like yours, you might just go all the way. But remember, strength isn't just about winning battles—it's about understanding your Pokémon and working together as one."
Casey nodded, her usual energetic demeanor replaced with a rare moment of seriousness. "I know. Haru drilled that into me during training. Every battle is a lesson, and I'm just getting started."
The Gym Leader handed her the Sapphire Badge, the light glinting off its gem-like surface. "Well, consider this your next step toward greatness. You've earned it. But don't get cocky, kid. The league is a whole different ballgame."
Casey took the badge, holding it up with pride. "Thanks! I'll remember that. But don't worry, I've got Haru's training and my Pokémon by my side. We're ready for anything!"
The man crossed his arms, a small smile playing on his lips. "Haru, huh? You're one of his students? Figures. That guy always had a knack for finding talent and pushing it to its limits. If you're anything like him, the league's going to have their hands full."
Casey grinned. "I'll take that as a compliment! And yeah, Haru's the best. He's tough, but he knows how to bring out the best in us."
The Gym Leader nodded, stepping back as Casey pocketed the badge. "Then keep that attitude. With Haru's guidance and your determination, you might just make it to the top. Good luck, Casey. I'll be rooting for you."
Casey turned, waving as she walked toward the exit. "Thanks! I'll make sure to give it my all!"
As she left the gym, Casey couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. Four badges down in just a few days. Haru's training had really paid off, and now she was one step closer to proving herself in the Johto League.
Her next stop was clear. With her sights set on the next gym, Casey tightened her grip on the Sapphire Badge and muttered to herself, "Watch out, Johto. I'm coming for the league, and I'm not holding back!"
