Lurantis listened attentively to Evan's explanation.
As it looked at the information displayed on the computer, a glimmer of understanding sparked in its eyes.
"Lura."(I see... that's right)
It seemed to grasp the essence of what Evan meant.
"Lura~~!" (Humans are so amazing)
"Lura~~!!" Lurantis exclaimed, looking up at Evan with an enthusiastic cry, expressing that it understood.
Seeing this, Evan smiled warmly.
"Good, I'm glad you understand."
"From now on, I'll focus your training on this aspect."
"For now, eat some energy cubes and then return to training."
"When the time comes, I'll create a special energy cube just for you to help you grow even stronger."
Hearing this, Lurantis's eyes lit up with joy.
"LuraLura~~!" it chirped, promising to work hard.
Evan patted its head affectionately, then stood up and said, "Alright, the inspection is done. Let's head out and see how the others are doing."
With that, Evan began walking outside, and Lurantis eagerly followed at his side.
Evan and Lurantis made their way to where Gardevoir was training the others. At that moment, Gardevoir was overseeing a group of younger Pokémon, including Pikachu. Charmander had joined the session as well.
As they arrived, Evan saw Charmander attempting to attack Gardevoir with Flamethrower, only to have the attack effortlessly deflected by Gardevoir's Telekinesis. The move had no effect at all.
However, Pikachu and a nearby Gallade were engaged in a fierce assault, working together. Taking advantage of the distraction, several other Pokémon coordinated their efforts, launching a series of continuous attacks on Gardevoir.
Evan nodded in approval at the scene.
"Not bad. They've actually started to cooperate," he observed, clearly pleased.
The progress was impressive—these little ones were no longer attacking aimlessly. Instead, their teamwork had become fluid and effective.
He scanned the Pokémon present and noticed one of the Kirlia wearing an Awakening Stone around its neck. It seemed close to evolving. Nearby, another Kirlia was in a similar state. If both evolved soon, only two Kirlia would remain in their group, one of which belonged to Sophia.
Sophia's Kirlia still had some time before it reached the same stage. With a Shiny Gardevoir as a sparring partner every day, though, all of their strengths were improving rapidly.
Evan stood quietly with Lurantis, observing the battle. The match only ended when all the younger Pokémon were eventually defeated.
With the training session over, Gardevoir began its routine teaching.
"Tell these little guys what went wrong with their attack just now," Evan instructed Gardevoir.
Gardevoir nodded, turning to the younger Pokémon and explaining their mistakes in detail. It emphasized the importance of timing, positioning, and better coordination in their strategy.
As Evan listened, he nodded with satisfaction. Gardevoir's teaching was undeniably effective. Its experiences in the wild had shaped it into an exceptional mentor, and now it was passing that wisdom to the younger ones.
Gardevoir and Gallade had reached their impressive levels by surviving countless battles in the wild. They possessed an innate understanding and experience that no human trainer could replicate.
What Evan appreciated most was how the Pokémon taught by Gardevoir and Gallade were developing a "wild edge." This natural, instinct-driven growth made them more adaptable and powerful—far removed from the rigid training methods often imposed by humans.
"Could humans truly understand Pokémon better than Pokémon themselves?" Evan mused. "Letting Pokémon teach each other is undoubtedly the best way for them to reach their full potential."
Satisfied with the progress he observed, Evan shifted his attention toward the direction of the back mountain. He noticed signs of another battle happening there.
"Gallade isn't here," he thought. "No doubt he's training his younger sibling, the Kirlia, over at the back mountain."
The thought brought a smile to Evan's face. He was filled with hope and anticipation for the future growth of his team. A Champion-level Gallade mentoring others alongside an Elite-level Pokémon—it was an arrangement destined to yield exceptional results. If these Pokémon couldn't grow under such conditions, they might as well give up and simply laze around.
Shaking his head with amusement, Evan decided not to dwell on the thought any further. Instead, he turned back toward the workshop to check on Isla's progress with the energy cubes.
When he arrived, he saw Isla and the others had already finished making them. Three energy cubes, each slightly different in color, sat on the table in front of him.
Examining the cubes, Evan immediately recognized that something was off. The colors hinted at mistakes in the proportions. Two of the lighter-colored cubes were clearly flawed, while the darker one seemed better. Isla looked somewhat proud, but Daniel and Michael appeared sheepish, avoiding Evan's gaze.
Evan smiled knowingly. "For now, only one of these energy cubes is qualified," he remarked, pointing to the darker one. "You can tell just by the color. Compare them to the cubes I made—it's easy to spot the difference with the naked eye."
He turned to Daniel and Michael. "But don't worry, these energy cubes aren't entirely useless. Keep practicing, and you'll improve."
Gesturing to the flawed cubes, he added, "Give these to the Grass-type Pokémon in the breeding house. They'll love them just as much."
Evan wasn't upset. After all, everyone had to start somewhere—except for him, of course, as he humorously reminded himself.
Evan's prowess as a breeder had been significantly enhanced by the system's guidance.
Hearing Evan's reassuring words, the trio let out a collective sigh of relief and nodded eagerly. Evan observed their Pokémon briefly before continuing with a smile:
"In addition to giving these energy cubes to the Pokémon in the backyard, you can also feed them to your own Pokémon, you know," he encouraged. "That way, nothing goes to waste."
"Although these energy cubes haven't reached the high-quality level of intermediate ones, they're still perfectly fine as intermediate-grade cubes. The effects might be a bit reduced, but they're still excellent food for your Pokémon."
"For Grass-type Pokémon especially, their attributes will improve noticeably, even with these slightly substandard cubes. They're far better than the low-end high-quality energy cubes you'll find on the market."
The trio nodded again, their confidence bolstered by Evan's words. They were genuinely grateful to him for his understanding.
"Got it, Brother Evan!" they chimed in. "Don't worry, we won't waste them!"
Evan's encouragement dispelled any lingering fears of blame. However, the group was determined to improve. They resolved to make every effort to succeed while minimizing material waste.
With renewed focus, the three resumed their work with a determined mind. They even let their Pokémon eat some of the energy cubes they had produced earlier, saving the rest for packing into a box for the backyard Pokémon. Machamp would handle moving the box when the time came.
Though the energy cubes were most attractive to Grass-type Pokémon, the team didn't mind. Other Pokémon might not show much interest, but the Grass-types would certainly enjoy them. For Evan and the others, it was simply extra food for the Pokémon under their care.
Evan stayed nearby, coaching the trio from time to time as they worked. His presence was a steadying influence, offering both guidance and encouragement.
As they busied themselves, Luna suddenly rushed in, calling out, "Brother Evan, a guest is here!"
Evan nodded and stood up immediately. Lurantis, not wanting to miss anything, quickly followed.
By the time Evan reached the hall of the breeding house, he saw several children from the orphanage serving tea to the guests. The older kids, Tiger and Bexley, were confidently showcasing Evan's certification and the business documents Isla had prepared.
Evan couldn't help but smile at the sight. Should I start paying these little guys a salary? he thought with amusement.
With a slight grin, Evan approached the group. Tiger noticed his arrival and perked up immediately.
"Brother Evan is here!" Tiger announced brightly. "This is Brother Evan, the boss here. Brother Evan, we'll leave this to you."
Without waiting for a response, Tiger handed over his tasks and dashed off toward the backyard, leaving only Luna and Lily, the youngest girls at 8 and 9 years old, to assist Evan.
Evan turned his attention to the guests—a group of three travelers, consisting of two women and one man, all looking cheerful as they introduced themselves.
