Pokemon: I am a God-level Player

Chapter 102: 102. Escape

Hmm, this doesn't seem like a loss after all. I traded a Water Stone and not only received 100,000 Pokédollars but also got a promise for future assistance. That's a good deal!

Green hadn't expected Eddie to make such a promise. After considering it, she felt she had made quite a profit and couldn't help but view Eddie more favorably.

"Ding! Because of your behavior and words, Green's favorability towards you has increased and is now 'friendly'!"

Nice, Eddie heard this system prompt and silently gave himself a thumbs up.

"Wait, since you've made such a promise to me, couldn't you show me your Pokédex?" Green immediately found the opening. Eddie had made her a promise, yet he still refused to show her the Pokédex. This naturally seemed strange.

"Green, do you really want me to make it clearer?"

Yes, promises were promises, but Eddie still had no intention of showing Green his Pokédex. He knew her current objective was to take his device, so naturally, he wouldn't give her the opportunity.

"...Morning Sun, I don't quite understand what you're talking about. I just want to see the Pokédex. Can't you satisfy this small request?" Green heard something seemed a bit off, but she remained composed and continued asking for the Pokédex.

"It seems you're still not giving up. Alright, I'll show it to you." Eddie observed Green's persistence and knew she wouldn't relent until achieving her goal today. He didn't want to be too blunt and risk lowering her favorability rating, but he had a way to handle the situation. So, he agreed to show Green the Pokédex.

After speaking, Eddie reached into his clothes and fumbled around, as if searching for his device. After feeling around for a minute or two, he seemed to find what he was looking for. He pulled out the Pokédex and, without further comment, handed it to Green.

Although Green was puzzled by Eddie's contradictory behavior—refusing her request moments ago but now agreeing—the Pokédex was already in her hands, and she had no intention of returning it, so...

"Thank you, handsome Morning Sun! I'll keep the Pokédex safe for you. See you next time~~~" Green took the Pokédex, immediately revealing her true intentions with a proud laugh. She then produced a round object from somewhere and threw it to the ground.

"Bang~~~~"

It was a smoke bomb. A cloud of white smoke instantly filled the entire corridor. Fortunately, there weren't many people around at this time, so it only affected Eddie's vision.

Green quickly fled the scene and ran outside. To ensure her escape and fearing Eddie might pursue her, she immediately took out a Poké Ball and released her Jigglypuff.

Jigglypuff used its ability to transform into something resembling an Air Balloon, and Green sat on Jigglypuff's head as they slowly floated upward. Then they drifted toward the nearest land, leaving the cruise ship behind.

"Finally got the Pokédex! Though it's a pity Morning Sun just made that promise. Maybe next time we meet, forget about asking for help—he might just try to arrest me outright. Alas, what a shame."

Green felt proud of obtaining the Pokédex but also regretted that her actions had directly nullified Eddie's promise. Eddie's strength had been evident earlier, and someone with such great potential would only grow stronger in the future. Opportunities to receive help from such a powerful person were rare.

However, she knew the Pokédex's functions were so powerful that her actions were justified, though she felt sorry for Eddie.

"At worst, I can get him some nice things to make up for it next time. Seeing how kind he is, he'll definitely forgive me!"

Green secretly resolved to find Eddie some valuable items in the future to alleviate her inner guilt.

She then happily opened the Pokédex, eager to see how great her "victory" had been. However, Green's expression quickly fell.

When she opened the Pokédex, instead of the small display screen she expected, she found an empty shell. Well, not exactly empty—there was a small note inside.

The note contained a few words and a series of numbers:

"My promise is still valid. You can come to me whenever you need my help."

The numbers below represented a phone number, indicating that Eddie was willing to receive Green's calls anytime. However, both the message and numbers were written crookedly, obviously penned in haste.

Green suddenly remembered Eddie's fumbling inside his clothes earlier and immediately realized he hadn't been searching for his Pokédex at all—he had been writing this note.

"He didn't show me the real Pokédex because he knew what I was planning! He agreed just to give me this fake one as a countermeasure."

"But why? How did he know my purpose was the Pokédex? And I just met him for the first time today—why did he act like he was so familiar with me?"

Green knew she had failed, and now, like a defeated rooster, she collapsed onto Jigglypuff's body. But she couldn't understand how Eddie had anticipated her intentions or why he seemed to know her so well.

Green should have realized her failure sooner, and she felt anxious. If she had checked the device before escaping, Eddie's little trick probably wouldn't have worked on her.

Still in the corridor outside the treatment room, Eddie was talking to himself. He had known Green would slip away when she took out the smoke bomb, but because of his little trick, he hadn't moved and had simply watched her run away, oblivious to his deception.

"Green probably learned about my name and the Pokédex from Professor Oak's files or computer when she went to the laboratory to take Squirtle away."

Yes, the girl in green who had just tried to take Eddie's Pokédex was a visitor to Professor Oak's Laboratory.

A late-night visitor, to be precise.

As mentioned before, only three people knew Eddie had a real Pokédex, and the information Green had obtained most likely came from Professor Oak's Laboratory.

Professor Oak was very busy, so he probably recorded information to prevent forgetfulness. It would be normal for him to document details about Eddie, Ash, and Gary.

After obtaining this news, Green suddenly realized she also wanted a Pokédex—after all, she too was from Pallet Town.

Ash's Pokédex was probably her actual target, but since Ash was still receiving treatment in the medical room, she could only approach Eddie.

Then came the unfortunate outcome.
