Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You

vol. 5 chapter 66 - Sister-in-Law’s Recognition

Before parting ways, Rosvisser waved to Rebecca.
Rebecca, looking puzzled, pointed to herself and asked,
"Huh? Me?"
Rosvisser smiled and nodded.

Only then did the young gunslinger cheerfully approach.
The two stepped aside, and Rebecca confidently patted her flat chest, saying,
"Sister-in-law, just tell me what you need! Whether it’s keeping an eye on the captain’s habits or signing him up for gentlemanly virtue lessons, I promise to get it done!"
Rosvisser’s lips curled into a small smile as she lifted her hand, unclasped the crystalline pendant hanging from her neck, and placed it gently into Rebecca’s hand.

Rebecca’s eyes lit up as she stared at the shimmering crystal.
"Sister-in-law, this…?"
"Have you heard of ‘Primordial Power’?"
Rebecca nodded.
"The captain mentioned it before. He said only a handful of dragons in the entire race can master it. And you’re one of them, Sister-in-law."

"That’s right. When I first began condensing Primordial Power, I relied on this crystal for assistance. But now, I’ve reached the point where I can do it on my own. So, I want to give this to you."
Years ago, Rosvisser’s grandmother, Veronica, had entrusted this crystal to St. Heath’s Academy’s principal, Olett, to deliver it to her. It had helped Rosvisser master this extraordinary power. Now, however, she no longer needed it.
Rebecca quickly shook her head, waving her hands in refusal.
"No, no, no! Sister-in-law, the captain told me this was a wedding gift from your family. How can I take it? Besides…"

Her voice faltered as her cheeks flushed a deep red.
"I’m just a gunslinger. My magic is average at best. There’s no way I could handle something this powerful."
Rosvisser chuckled softly.
"It’s true that my grandmother gave it to me as a wedding gift, and it has brought Leon and me countless blessings. But as for being a gunslinger, that doesn’t matter. You don’t have to use it like a magician would. You can find a way to use it with your own skills as a gunslinger."
Rebecca’s eyes widened as she murmured,
"Use it… as a gunslinger?"

"Yes. And—"
"And what, Sister-in-law?"
Rosvisser bent down slightly, her soft smile warming as she gently ruffled Rebecca’s hair.
"You’ve been calling me ‘Sister-in-law’ for so long. It’s only right I give you something meaningful in return, don’t you think?"

Rebecca lowered her gaze to the crystal pendant. It wasn’t just a powerful artifact—it symbolized Rosvisser’s trust and recognition.
"Only someone truly close would give such a precious gift."
Rosvisser’s kindness toward Rebecca stemmed from something Leon had once told her. Rebecca had lost her parents at a young age and had only her master, Taggar, and his wife, Charlotte, to care for her. To Rebecca, Taggar was her "father," and Charlotte had entrusted her own child to Rebecca’s care, leaving a lasting gap in the girl’s heart.
Even after joining St. Pah’s Dragon Squad and forming genuine friendships, Rebecca still felt an emptiness deep down.

Leon had often seen her on holidays, sitting alone on rooftops, watching couples walking hand in hand, children running around with candy, calling out to their parents. As the sun set and families gathered for dinner, Rebecca would return to her home filled only with cold weaponry and a single lonely green hairpin glinting in the fading light.
Rebecca always hid her loneliness behind a cheerful facade, but deep down, she was just a simple, pure-hearted girl yearning for care and warmth.
Rosvisser wasn’t sure why her heart had softened so much. Maybe it was her maternal instincts overflowing from having so many daughters, or perhaps being married to Leon for so long had given her a touch of sentimentality. Whatever the reason, she wanted to bring a bit of warmth into Rebecca’s life.

Still, Rosvisser couldn’t bring herself to say it all out loud. For someone like her, such words felt far too sentimental.
"Take it, Rebecca. I trust you’ll make good use of it."
Straightening up, Rosvisser decided not to linger. If Rebecca broke into tears and hugged her, it would be too much, especially in front of so many people.

Finally, Rosvisser turned and waved to Leon.
"Take care on the road."
Leon saluted playfully.
"Got it. We’re off!"
With that, the Silver Dragon Queen spread her wings, transforming into a magnificent silver dragon and soaring into the sky.

"Rebecca, we’re heading back!" Martin called from the carriage.
Rebecca snapped out of her daze, clutching the pendant tightly, before running to the carriage. Martin reached out to help her aboard.
As the group set off, Nacho turned to the driver.
"Alright, let’s move."

Above them, a falcon circled, keeping watch as they traveled.
Inside the carriage, Martin curiously pointed at a wooden chest.
"Captain, what’s in all these boxes?"
"Magical materials and training resources from the dragon clan," Leon replied.

Rebecca, Nacho, and Martin exchanged shocked glances. Dragon resources were legendary, coveted by all races for their unmatched quality.
Leon explained,
"After the Flaming ❖ Nоvеl𝚒ght ❖ (Exclusive on Nоvеl𝚒ght) Valley mission, I focused on researching materials humans could use effectively. These resources will elevate your magic to an entirely new level."
He paused, then asked,
"Do you remember how the academy graded power during the Dragon Wars?"

Rebecca and Martin nodded.
"Yes, Captain."
Leon continued,
"Unlike the usual A, B, C, S ratings, the academy created its own system for dragon war evaluations: Weak Dragon King, Pseudo-Dragon King, Dragon King, and Supreme Dragon King."
Rebecca added,
"Master Taggar was rated as a Pseudo-Dragon King, right?"

"Exactly. And now, these resources will raise the Lionheart Guild’s magicians to that level."
Martin’s eyes lit up.
"Really, Captain?"
"Yes. Our next battle with Shadow demands nothing less."

Rebecca smirked and teased,
"And Captain, what’s your rating?"
Nacho raised an eyebrow.
"Not in the system, huh? Then what’s your rating?"
Rebecca grinned, holding up her fingers one by one.
"Weak Dragon King."
Pseudo-Dragon King."
Dragon King."
Supreme Dragon King."

Finally, only her thumb remained.
"Leon Cosmod Level!"

Nacho clapped his hands. “When you don’t fit the system, you become the system.”

After joking around for a bit, Rebecca turned to ask, “By the way, Captain, now that you’re out on the road, won’t your youngest daughter miss you at home?”
“Muse has already… started school.”
Leon leaned back slightly, resting against the carriage, and looked up at the cloudless sky.

“I wonder how she’s doing at school, whether she’s getting used to life there.”
