Chapter 12 - Absolute's Streaming – Episode 12
Absolute’s Streaming – Episode 12
A message popped up—Reward granted.
Rumble…
Not far away, a section of the wall slowly cracked open.
That must be the “Vigo” thing Karen mentioned.
Minseong walked toward it at a steady pace.
The passage inside was similar to the one he had come through earlier.
As he moved, torches along the walls lit up one by one.
He kept walking for a while.
Then he stopped.
The path ended.
A dead end.
But there was something odd.
Right in front of the wall, there was a card.
Actually, calling it a card didn’t feel quite right—it was huge about as big as a person.
It felt more like looking into a mirror than at a card.
No, it wasn’t just a feeling—it was reality.
The image on the card was him.
It was a perfect replica of Minseong, down to every detail. Even the sword in his hand looked identical.
But that wasn’t the weirdest part.
There was something different about the card.
Unlike Minseong, who stood still—his reflection moved on its own.
Bzzzt! Crackle!
Golden electric sparks flickered and disappeared around the Minseong in the card.
It was so vivid that he could see it clearly with the naked eye.
Minseong tilted his head.
Since he didn’t know much about Blue Star, his reaction was understandable.
“Uh… what is this?”
He asked his viewers.
— Bro, looking all clueless is actually adorable, lmao.
— I mean, fair reaction for a newbie.
— Man’s a total Blue Newbie lol.
— Nah, but for real, Blue Star is the most RNG-based game ever. How the hell does he get a skill drop in the tutorial?
The chat was filled with all sorts of messages, mostly unrelated to his question.
Then—
Found it.
Minseong spotted a chat that actually answered him.
— In Blue Star, all items drop as cards. Equipment cards have an image of the gear, and skill cards have effects shown on them. If you open the card, it turns into an item.
So those sparks must be the effect of the skill on the card.
But there was something about this that bugged him.
“Why the hell did they design it like this?”
Why make skills and items drop as cards?
And more importantly—why not just drop them directly as items?
Wouldn’t that save time and effort?
“This seems like a super inconvenient system. Why go through the hassle of turning a card into an item? Why not just drop the item outright?”
The chat exploded.
— LMAOOO, this dude is a true newbie.
— Nah, bro, let’s not do this. Just check the skill already.
— C’mon, man. Skill first, questions later!
— Bro thinks he’s smarter than the devs, lol. There’s a reason they did it this way.
Minseong ignored the irrelevant comments.
“A reason?”
— Listen, newbie. One of the best parts of Blue Star is the thrill of opening cards.
And then came the explanation.
Getting an open card like this was super rare.
Normally, you’d get a sealed card, and the card’s color determined how good the item inside was.
So even if two players got the same weapon, the stats could be different depending on the card’s color.
Now, it made sense.
The devs designed it this way to increase excitement and anticipation.
It was all about the thrill of discovery.
“So… this is a skill, right?”
— Yep.
— Touch the card to check the details.
— But you probably can’t learn it yet. Most skills have a level 10 requirement.
— Yeah, that’s weird though. Usually, tutorial rewards are things you can use immediately.
So it really was a skill.
Minseong reached out and touched the card.
Shhhk—!
A holographic window popped up, revealing the skill’s details.
[Thunder God]
Type: Passive Skill
Level Requirement: None
Effect:
– When “Thunder Charge” reaches 100%, enter the “Thunder God” state.
– “Thunder Charge” increases based on damage dealt in combat.
– In the “Thunder God” state, physical abilities increase by 200%.
Minseong’s immediate reaction—
“……!”
Even with his limited knowledge of the game, he could tell—
This was insane.
A 200% increase in physical abilities?!
That was a 3x boost to his current strength!
“Holy… this is broken!”
He glanced at the chat—
It was going nuts.
But not for the reason he expected.
— LMAOOOOOOOOOO
— BRO, I CAN’T
— HE REALLY THINKS IT’S GOOD LOL
— “Wow, this is insane.”—The dude has NO IDEA lmaoo
— Comedy gold, I swear.
The chat was flooded with laughter.
Something was off.
Minseong frowned.
“The description makes it sound amazing… why’s everyone laughing?”
— It sounds good, sure. But it’s actually trash, lmao.
— Yeah, 200% is high, but the skill itself is garbage.
— If you learn this, your character’s done for.
— Who the hell gives a secret quest reward this bad?
— This is the first time I’ve seen a secret quest reward I don’t envy lol.
A donation alert popped up.
[‘NewbieDetector’ donated 100 won.]
Did you think a secret quest would give you something OP? Haha, nah. Enjoy your trash skills.
The chat was brutal.
A few people insisted it was actually a good skill, but Minseong knew better.
They were just baiting him into taking it.
And then—
[‘HaYeeunFan’ donated 100 won.]
Yeah, uh… that skill’s kinda trash.
So it really was bad.
But why?
Then he found his answer.
Thunder Charge is ridiculously slow to build up.
Even if you reach 100%, the state is uncontrollable.
Once you learn this skill, you’re locked into the “Thunder God” skill tree.
You can’t unlearn or delete it.
You’re forced into a specific class with no way to change.
So basically… the moment you take this skill, you’re screwed.
At least, that’s what the chat believed.
But Minseong?
He thought differently.
The “uncontrollable” part didn’t bother him.
Because he knew he could control it.
Why?
Because Minseong wasn’t normal.
And there was another thing.
“This feels way too intentional.”
The quest itself had already been insane.
Killing 20 mutated White Nights in the tutorial? No normal player could do that.
Maybe this skill wasn’t trash—maybe it was meant for someone like him.
With zero hesitation, Minseong reached out.
[You have acquired the skill ‘Thunder God.’]
—
As he walked back, the door he had passed through opened on its own.
Karen was waiting.
Her eyes widened.
“Oh…! You have returned!”
She hesitated before asking—
“Did you acquire the Secret Technique?”
Minseong nodded.
Karen clasped her hands together, eyes shining with emotion.
She looked like she might cry.
“Thank you… truly, thank you!”
Tears streamed down her face.
Then—
[Linked Quest: ‘Karen’s Request’ has been generated.]
Minseong checked the quest—and then shared it with his viewers.
And the chat?
It lost its mind.
NO WAY THEY’RE GIVING THIS HERE.
— BRO. WTF IS THIS REWARD?
— They’re handing this out in the starting area?! Unreal.
The firestorm in the chat had only just begun.
