Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 118: Chapter 118: War (Part 5)

The Mother Insect God, the progenitor of the Black Crystal Insectoids and the world lord of the Hive World, finally revealed itself after nearly four million of its kin had fallen. This colossal being, its body seemingly forged from gold, began to advance towards the Floating City, surrounded by a radiant glow.

Under this light, all the Black Crystal Insectoids felt a comforting warmth, and their wounds began to heal rapidly.

"Ulysses, how strong is this insect?" Richard communicated mentally with Ulysses.

"Nothing special, just a typical world lord," Ulysses replied. "The only noteworthy aspect of this insect is its use of faith power. The glow around it is faith power in a rudimentary form. While it can't compare to the faith power of the Divine Civilization, for a world lord of a microcosmic world, it's quite brilliant."

"Faith power? Is this how it's used?" Richard was shocked, observing the insect horde's transformation.

Such widespread healing is a feat even a necromancy Grand Wizard would struggle to achieve.

"Don't be deceived," Ulysses scoffed. "The healing is a result of its domain effect. I suspect its domain involves flesh, birth, and life. Its ability to apply its domain so extensively is thanks to faith power."

Ulysses recalled the time when it too wielded such power. Now, reduced to working for a first-tier creature, it felt a pang of indignation. But accepting reality, Ulysses continued:

"When this insect battles your Grand Wizard, keep your eyes open. If you can snag a piece of its body, it would greatly benefit both of us. For now, I must hide. Otherwise, their full power might detect me."

With that, Ulysses flew into Richard's waist pouch, leaving him to continue watching the spectacle.

...

Planar warfare is a battle of monarchs against monarchs, generals against generals. With the appearance of the Mother Insect God, Grand Wizard Black Tower naturally had to show himself.

A dark shadow flew out from the Floating City, transforming into a hundred-meter-tall black-robed wizard in an instant.

The two terrifying beings faced each other in the sky, a mountainous pressure descending upon the battlefield. In this oppressive silence, all creatures watched the confrontation above.

Suddenly, sensing something, the Mother Insect God spread its golden wings and vanished.

Simultaneously, all beings on the battlefield felt a chilling sense of foreboding.

It was as if a volcano was about to erupt.

"Heh heh heh, it's too late to hide now!"

Black Tower's laugh echoed like thunder, a sinister, frenzied aura emanating from him, plunging all who sensed it into terrifying visions.

He tore open space, drawing a rune staff from the void. Oceanic mana surged into the staff, and in an instant, countless black rune chains shot from Black Tower's body into the void, forcibly dragging the vanished Mother Insect God back.

Whoom—

The bottom of the Floating City opened suddenly, unleashing a torrent of energy over ten meters wide, piercing the Mother Insect God's body.

Golden insect blood splattered across the sky.

"That's... the Floating City's main cannon!"

Richard watched the energy torrent in shock, its magnitude exceeding his comprehension, its power reaching at least a hundred thousand energy levels.

Such alchemical weaponry could only be wielded by a supermassive war fortress like the Floating City.

"Gulp."

Richard swallowed, his gaze fixed on the stricken Mother Insect God.

Even after such a devastating attack, the Mother Insect God remained alive.

Are all world lords this monstrous?

...

"The Mother Insect God... is wounded?"

A thought flickered through the minds of the Black Crystal Insectoids below.

The revered and supreme Mother Insect God was injured!

"Szzz!"

The Mother Insect God roared, its resonant soundwave instantly killing thousands of slave troops and several unlucky black wizards.

In the presence of a world lord, unorganized lower beings were mere fodder and cannon fodder.

Seeing the Mother Insect God's vitality, Black Tower swung his staff, a thousand-meter-long bolt of purple lightning streaking across the sky towards the deity.

Its power was at least fifty thousand energy levels.

In response, the Mother Insect God spread its golden wings, vanishing once again.

In the next instant, a golden light cleaved through space, the Mother Insect God's forelimbs transforming into blade arms, surrounded by a dense golden glow, striking at Black Tower.

"Foolish insect."

Black Tower sneered, his body suddenly dispersing into black chains that wrapped around the Mother Insect God, while his form appeared thousands of meters away.

With extensive combat experience against physically evolved world lords, Black Tower was well-prepared.

Boom!

The thousand-meter purple lightning struck the Mother Insect God, leaving a charred wound.

"Szzz!"

The Mother Insect God roared again, the black crystal on its forehead glowing gold. The starlight in the night sky gathered, forming a radiant orb.

In the next moment, the orb dispersed, a web of starlight spreading across the sky, imprisoning the entire space.

"Spatial confinement, interesting."

Black Tower grinned viciously, his black robe expanding into a dark canopy, moving to envelop the Mother Insect God. Countless twisted black tendrils emerged from beneath his robe, their insane, terrifying aura causing the Mother Insect God to shudder.

"Szz!"

The Mother Insect God hissed warily, its golden light condensing into the black crystal on its forehead.

It spread its wings, attempting to escape the dark canopy, but due to the spatial confinement, its spatial abilities were unusable, leaving it to watch helplessly as the darkness closed in.

It could flee the battlefield.

But as the Mother Insect God, could it truly flee so easily?

As Black Tower's tendrils approached, the deity's blade arms swung furiously, shredding the incoming tendrils.

Strangely, no matter how many it cut, more tendrils emerged.

From an outside perspective, while Black Tower's form expanded, no tendrils neared the Mother Insect God.

The tendrils penetrated the void, eroding the space around the deity.

Unnoticed, Black Tower's domain had begun affecting its mind. It hadn't realized it was trapped in an illusion.

The Mother Insect God's arms swung faster, its sharp blades nearly slicing the space apart, yet in its perception, endless tendrils exuding malevolence approached relentlessly.

"Szzz!"

The Mother Insect God roared, its blade arms slashing fiercely, tearing open space.

But it was futile.

Illusions didn't change with reality.

"Heh heh heh, a world lord so foolish."

Black Tower slowly consumed the Mother Insect God's strength, intending to exhaust it within his dark domain.

If he could end the Mother Insect God early, the planar expedition would be over.

Only a world lord could challenge a Grand Wizard. Without one, the combined insect horde was mere ants before Black Tower.

But soon, Black Tower sensed something amiss.

The Mother Insect God's power waned too swiftly, as if something was draining it.

"Not good!"

Black Tower's form trembled as he realized the Mother Insect God's intent.

But it was too late.

In the dark domain, the black crystal on the Mother Insect God's forehead, along with its body, erupted in radiant gold. Concentrated faith power, combined with the deity's strength, tore a massive rift in Black Tower's domain.

Black Tower grunted in pain, his form shuddering.

This dark domain was akin to his body, and being forcibly torn open was agonizing.

Yet the Mother Insect God paid a heavy price.

On the ground, tens of thousands of Black Crystal Insectoids felt a pang in their hearts, a profound sadness engulfing their minds.

It was as if they had lost their mother.

The insect nation's High Priest realized the truth as the sorrow hit.

The Mother Insect God's true form hadn't appeared; what they saw was merely a Mother Insect bearing the deity's power.

Now, their mother was dead.

"My friends, our nation's Mother Insect has returned to the embrace of the Mother Insect God." The High Priest bowed slightly to the other priests, his voice eerily calm.

"May you drive away these extraterrestrial invaders, may you win glory for the Mother Insect God, may our Black Crystal Insectoids thrive and prosper."

With that, the High Priest issued a command received only by the insects of his nation.

"All forces, attack. Avenge the Mother Insect."

He then tore the black crystal from his forehead, cradling it in his hands as he knelt towards the hive.

Every insect nation's High Priest performed a sacrificial ritual before death.

Their accumulated stellar energy, faith power, and even their souls were offered to the Mother Insect God.

Ordinary Black Crystal Insectoids lacked reproductive capabilities; all nations depended on the Mother Insect for offspring.

The Mother's death spelled the nation's demise.

A doomed nation needed no High Priest.

"Praise the Mother Insect God."

...

"Attention all wizards, attention all wizards. Enemy world lord has disappeared. Enemy world lord has disappeared.

All forces, advance. All forces, advance!

Grand Wizard Black Tower will fight alongside you!"

The command center's cold orders echoed from the communication crystal ball. Watching the fearless insect horde, Richard took a deep breath.

"Prepare for battle!"
