It was a revolutionary magzine that spoke up against the British rule. One of the writers of this magzine was 17 year old Sardar Kartar Singh Sarabha, he had gone to San Francisco to get an education.

Burning World War 1, this magzine didn't remain a mere magzine. But had evolved into a political party that wanted to declare war against the British.

That's why Sardar Kartar Singh and his companions returned to India, to mobilise his fellow countrymen against the British. But the British found out about it. They were then arrested, and on 16th November 1915,they were hanged in Lahore Central Jail. Thus they became martyrs.

Because of this event, martyr Bhagat Singh's outlook towards life changed forever. He decided to dedicate his life to his country. Since that day, he kept Sardar Kartar Singh's photo with him at all times and one day, he told his mother, That Kartar Singh was my "Hero, friend and companion."

In 1917, after he completed 4th grade, martyr Bhagat Singh's family moved to Lahore. There was admitted to DAV High school. But he was an average student in the school. On 22nd July 1918, he wrote a letter to his grandfather stating that out of 150, he scored 110 and 68 marks in Sanskrit and English.

He wasn't interested in sports, but he did chant the Gayatri Mantra in his school. Soon afterwards, there was another incident that shook him up.

Thousands of people were, protesting the British policies in Amritsar's Jallianwala Bagh. It was peaceful protest, but when General Dyer, an English military officer, found out about it, wanted to teach those people a lesson.

So without warning,

He blocked all exits and told his soldiers to open fire. 1,200 innocent people died that day and 2,000 were injured.

12 year old Bhagat Singh was shaken by this incident. He couldn't sleep at night. The next day, when he was supposed to go to school, he took a train to Amritsar instead of going to school.
