Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Extremely Powerful Observation Haki
"What do you want the Miracle Apple Tree for?" Quentin asked.
"It's said that the apples on the Miracle Apple Tree each have a unique taste. We want to sell them outside," Roy replied.
"Hmph, you're lying. I can tell you're definitely lying," Quentin pointed his toothpick-sized sword at Roy.
"Fine, it does have other uses. Please sell it to us. Once we get the Miracle Apple Tree, we'll leave immediately," Roy said.
"You wait here. I'll report to His Majesty the King," Quentin said, kicking off the ground and transforming into a pterosaur mid-air.
With the tiny wings of the pterosaur, he led a swarm of ancient insects and flew back to the island.
The Whitebeard Pirates waited at sea.
"Big bro, why waste so much time talking?" Blamenco grumbled, clearly irritated by Quentin's earlier attitude. Normally, people would treat them with respect and see doing business with them as an honor. More aggressive pirates would've just taken what they wanted by force.
"Never act rashly when you don't know the enemy," Roy said. "And haven't I told you often not to resort to violence as a first option?"
"They seem shady," Blamenco muttered.
"They are shady," Roy said with a grin.
"What do you mean, Big Bro?" Marco asked.
"It's simple. Where are we right now?"
"The Calm Belt."
"What's in the Calm Belt?"
"Sea Kings."
"Exactly."
Roy shrugged, and the others immediately understood, someone was hoping the Sea Kings would kill them.
Quentin glanced back at them a few times before disappearing into the island.
Roy's gaze sharpened, sending chills through everyone nearby.
Centered on Roy, a massive wave of Observation Haki spread out in all directions, stretching for tens of thousands of meters, completely covering the Tatadon Kingdom.
"Good thing it's just Observation Haki. If it were Conqueror's Haki…" Marco smirked.
None of them had seen the limits of Roy's Observation Haki. Nothing escaped his perception; with it, he had even rooted out numerous spies within the Whitebeard Pirates.
.....
"Your Majesty, we've confirmed their identity, they're from the Whitebeard Pirates," Quentin reported.
"The Whitebeard Pirates? Did they come through the Calm Belt?" a strong voice asked.
"Yes."
"They weren't attacked by Sea Kings?"
"No. It seems the Sea Kings didn't even notice them."
"Do we know what they want? Why have they come to Tatadon?"
"They're after the Miracle Apple Tree. They want a sapling around three years old," Quentin explained.
"What do you all think? Should we give it to them?"
"Your Majesty, I don't think we should. Pirates are untrustworthy," one minister said.
"Exactly, Your Majesty. Pirates don't care about botany. They only know how to plunder. They're just looking for an excuse. Once we give them the sapling, they'll claim it's wrong and attack us," another added.
"I think we can give it to them, but only to get them to leave," one suggested.
"General Quentin, what do you think of their strength?"
"I can't tell for sure. But being able to avoid Sea King attacks clearly means they're not ordinary," Quentin replied.
"Aren't there other human survivors on the island? Ask them if they know of the Whitebeard Pirates," the king ordered.
"Right, bring them in quickly."
Soon, several humans arrived.
"You were all shipwrecked and ended up here. Do you know the Whitebeard Pirates?"
"What?!"
"The Whitebeard Pirates?!"
"No way!!"
"You mean that Whitebeard?!"
The humans cried out in shock.
"Silence! Just tell us everything you know about the Whitebeard Pirates!" Quentin snapped.
"We'll tell you…"
"The Whitebeard Pirates are the strongest pirate crew in the world. Their captain, Whitebeard, is terrifying. He ate the Tremor-Tremor Fruit and can destroy entire islands if angered. Only Gol D. Roger or Golden Lion Shiki can rival him!"
"They're that powerful?!" The tiny people of Tatadon exclaimed in shock.
"They're unbelievably strong. Whitebeard is known as the strongest man in the world; he has no equal."
"What should we do?"
"Will they attack us?"
"Maybe we should surrender."
The kingdom descended into chaos, with ministers panicking like headless chickens.
"Calm down, everyone. Yes, they're powerful, but they don't go around attacking people. Compared to other pirate crews, they're actually quite decent. They just want to do business. As long as you don't provoke them, they won't harm anyone," one of the human survivors reassured them.
"They won't attack first?"
"No!"
"Understood. Do you want to leave with the Whitebeard Pirates?"
"No, thank you. It's safe here, we'd rather stay."
"Very well. If you wish to remain, then stay. Quentin, take a Miracle Apple Tree sapling and give it to them."
"Yes, sir!"
Hearing this, Roy withdrew his Observation Haki.
"How'd it go, big bro?" Marco asked.
"All settled. I didn't expect humans to be living on the island," Roy replied.
"What happened?" Marco and the others asked curiously.
Roy explained, and everyone understood.
"So they helped us indirectly." Marco smiled.
"Yes, they did."
A while later, Quentin returned with the ancient insect swarm, bringing the sapling and explaining how to care for it.
"Thank you. In exchange, here's our recipe for brewing liquor. I hope it'll be useful to you," Roy said, handing over a few alcohol formulas before sailing away with his crew.
"These guys… are actually pretty reasonable," Quentin muttered, holding a book larger than himself as he watched them leave.
Boom!
Just as he was about to return, the sea suddenly trembled. A massive Sea King erupted from the depths.
"A super-giant Sea King?!" Quentin gasped. "Are those humans going to die?!"
Compared to this colossal Sea King, the Moby Dick looked like a toy. The creature's giant eye locked onto them.
"Get lost!"
A deafening roar exploded across the sky just as the Sea King was about to attack.
Quentin nearly fell out of the sky. The ancient insects around him rained into the sea, floating on the surface.
The Sea King froze, then, in a panic, vanished into the depths like it was fleeing for its life.
"The Sea King… got scared?!" Quentin's eyes widened. "They weren't lying. Thank goodness we didn't pick a fight…" he muttered, flying back in a cold sweat.
