30 Years in Whitebeard’s Crew, I Became Invincible

Chapter 96: Chapter 96: A Father’s Indifference, A Tyrant’s Obsession

A sudden voice rang out behind them. Queen thought he had misheard and quickly turned his head.

King and Jack were both startled, turning to look for the source of the voice.

Kaido clenched his teeth, visibly displeased.

Loxus, on the other hand, after a moment of shock, actually looked delighted.

"You, who the hell are you?!" Queen spotted the man and stared down at the person sitting cross-legged behind them, devouring meat.

"The booze here is pretty good. If Newgate saw this, he'd explode in happiness."

"Dad?!"

"Dad? He's your father?" Queen looked at Loxus in surprise.

"Who is this guy?" Jack asked.

Kaido grinned. "Didn't think you'd actually show up. Aren't you afraid I'll kill you here?"

"Of course I'm afraid," Roy said, "but I don't think you have what it takes. I just came to see how my son's doing. Since he joined the Beasts Pirates and still looks lively, I have no complaints. Let him stay. His mother and I are doing fine. She's even thinking about having another kid. Nothing to worry about at home." Roy looked up at Loxus as he spoke.

Loxus's smile froze. In disbelief, he asked, "W-What do you mean?"

"Exactly what I said. From the moment you left the Whitebeard Pirates, your life became yours to decide. A real man doesn't expect others to save him. No strength? That's on you. On this sea, the first rule you need to learn is simple: power dictates truth. Being weak is a sin. You've grown up, son. Beyond blood, you're your own person now. Your future is yours to choose. Your mother and I believe in you. We hope for the best for you," Roy said with a smile.

"I'm your own flesh and blood!" Loxus shouted angrily.

"You didn't think about your mother and me when you followed Ace. And we respected your choice. If you want to come home now, you'll still be part of the Whitebeard Pirates—but it would mean betraying both the Spade Pirates and the Beasts Pirates."

Roy chuckled. "Are you willing to be a traitor? A coward who runs when things get tough?

"I won't go back! Never again! If I ever return, it'll be without ever facing you!" Loxus roared.

"That's more like it. I don't want a coward for a son. Live your life well. Your mother's and my lives are ours; you make your own," Roy said calmly.

Loxus clenched his teeth, glaring at Roy with pure rage in his eyes.

"I-I will never acknowledge you as my father again."

None of the Beasts Pirates interrupted the father-son argument, though it was clear the two had a broken relationship.

As for Roy's identity, the Disasters weren't fools. They recognized him.

Roy, the "Schemer." Vice Captain of the Whitebeard Pirates.

No wonder Kaido had taken such an interest in the brat. No wonder there'd been a banquet. It turns out he's the son of another Emperor-tier monster. They'd thought Kaido was about to be challenged by a father demanding his son back, but it was the opposite. Roy didn't care.

Kaido, who desperately wanted a worthy son, had essentially been handed one. And Roy, who had a son, threw him out to sea and let him join the Beasts Pirates.

"To think an intruder made it this far," King muttered.

"My apologies, King-ani, that's our failure in security," Jack apologized.

"Idiot Jack! Did he come alone, or is the whole Whitebeard crew here? Find out, NOW! All hands, search the island! We need to know who else is here!" Queen barked.

If Whitebeard Pirates were invading and somehow infiltrated the island, they were screwed.

"Relax. Just me. I came only as a father to check on my son. Seems he's doing fine. I'll tell his mom not to worry." Roy waved them off and went back to drinking and eating.

Loxus stared furiously at Roy. The mention of Whitey Bay cooled him down a bit.

At least his mother still loves him. As for Roy, he never had that father. That man had never loved him. Only pressured and forced him to study this and that.

Loxus had hated that since he was a kid. In his eyes, a pirate only needed strength and to plunder. Who needed to act like some refined scholar?

"You came here alone? I was planning to come find you, but you've walked right into my den," Kaido said, stepping forward and towering over Roy.

"I don't feel any danger here. I come and go as I please. And guys like you, I've taken down your kind before. You're familiar with Charlotte Linlin, right? Just another loser," Roy replied.

Kaido laughed and picked up a jug of wine from the table.

"Gulp gulp gulp!!!"

He drank deeply.

Roy winced. "Wasteful bastard. You're spilling it."

Sake was grain-made. Wasting grain was a sin.

"Worororo! Then here, take it!" Kaido hurled the sake jug at Roy.

CRACK!"

The jug exploded right in front of him, liquor splashing everywhere.

Roy looked up. Kaido grinned.

BOOM!

A clash of Conqueror's Haki exploded between them, sky darkening, black lightning crackling violently.

Every pirate in the lower banquet hall collapsed, foaming at the mouth.

Izo, gripping his cup, stared at the platform.

The sheer power of the Conqueror's Haki was terrifying, yet also reassured him.

Roy's strength was undeniable. Kaido, on Linlin's level, wouldn't be able to defeat him.

"What's going on?" Drake asked.

"That's a Conqueror's Haki collision!" Sasaki said in shock.

"Who's using Conqueror's Haki?" Who's got that kind of power?" Who's Who was wide-eyed.

"Only Kaido and that damn Yamato have it. Could it be her?" Ulti stood up.

"Can't be. This pressure… It's suffocating," Black Maria clutched her chest.

"We should help Kaido-sama!" Page One moved.

CRACK!

BOOM!

Onigashima trembled. The shockwaves from the Haki clash shattered nearby buildings.

The Calamities stood firm behind Kaido, faces tense.

"Is this all you've got?" Roy now sat comfortably on Kaido's throne, smiling as he raised a cup and took a sip.

Loxus looked at his father; he had never seen Roy like this before. Utterly domineering.

CRUNCH!

Roy crushed the cup in his hand, his gaze locked on Kaido.

His full Conqueror's Haki exploded.

His Haki exploded

In an instant, Darkness swallowed the island.

The shockwave swept across Onigashima. Those who hadn't passed out earlier now dropped like flies.

Thud!

The three Calamities dropped to their knees in unison, struggling to raise their heads toward the figure on the throne.

That man's body seemed so small, but in their minds, he was a colossus, towering even above ancient giants.

Before him, they were nothing but ants.

"Trash."
