Chapter 3: Future
Singularity F-Fuyuki. A city swallowed by flames. A land where death reigned supreme.
The embers of a ruined world crackled underfoot as a young man slowly made his way forward, the tip of his cane tapping against the scorched pavement. His dark sunglasses hid lifeless eyes that could no longer witness the tragedies unfolding around him. Ritsuka Fujimaru, the last Master of Chaldea, walked in step with Director Olga Marie Animusphere.
Ahead of them, standing firm in the ruined streets, was his Servant, Mash Kyrielight, holding her shield up in a defensive stance.
They had been searching for the Leyline, desperately trying to establish contact with Dr. Romani Archaman, but-
Ritsuka's senses screamed danger.
A chill ran down his spine. The sensation was almost supernatural-an instinct far beyond mere human perception.
Something was here. Something wrong.
His grip tightened on his cane, and he took a shaky breath..
"Ritsuka? What's wrong?" Olga Marie asked, but before she could get an answer-
She gasped.
Her hands shot up to cover her mouth, eyes wide with horror.
Someone was standing far ahead in the smoke.
A silhouette, tall and imposing, the mere sight of them igniting a visceral, primal fear.
"Hie."
A cold voice, smooth yet dripping with amusement, sliced through the air.
"Fufufu... I see. A new Master and Servant. How young and fresh you both are."
A woman's voice. Playful, yet detached. Like a predator toying with its food.
And then-
"Guah-!"
Ritsuka never even had time to react.
A massive force struck him, an impact so overwhelming that it felt like a star had crashed into him. His body was sent flying.
His cane slipped from his grasp, and his back slammed against a cracked concrete wall. The force knocked the wind out of him, nearly shattering his ribs on impact.
He hit the ground with a painful thud, his sunglasses shattering upon impact.
Ritsuka Fujimaru had no memory of colors, no concept of light. His world was constructed from sounds, textures, and scents. His fingers traced the world like a painter's brush, mapping reality through touch alone.
And yet, even without sight, he could feel death.
A horrible, searing heat spread through his body.
"...Hot..."
His voice was weak. His whole body trembled.
It wasn't fire.
It was something worse.
His nerves misfired. Every cell in his body burned. Heat. Fire. Agony.
His mind mistook Pain for heat.
He coughed. Blood spilled from his lips. Too much.
His stomach lurched. His trembling fingers reached toward his abdomen-and he felt it.
His body had been torn open.
His stomach burned, as though molten iron had been poured into his veins.
His stomach was split. His flesh peeled apart. His internal organs fell out.
A grotesque wound, deep enough that only a fragile stretch of skin at his back kept him from being completely torn in half.
His vision dimmed, though in his case, it was meaningless. He could feel his own blood pooling around him.
The heat.
It was unbearable.
It was a miracle he was still alive.
A miracle that wouldn't last.
'Aah… so this is what dying feels like.'
He couldn't even scream anymore.
His ears barely registered the sound of battle. The clash of metal, the cruel laughter of the enemy, and Mashu's desperate grunts as she fought.
Mash's voice echoed somewhere in the distance. She was fighting, struggling against the unknown enemy.
Olga Marie stood frozen.
And then-
"This is my hunting ground," the woman's voice purred, dripping with malice.
"I'm going to play with all my prey."
The sound of steel against steel.
Mash screamed.
A laugh. Cold, heartless, sadistic.
"Hahahaha! You're a Servant, yet you have no skill. Pathetic. Now, die, faker."
A sharp sound, like glass shattering.
And then silence.
A sound.
A wet, sickening sound.
Mashu's voice stopped.
And just like that, Ritsuka felt the weight of his first death.
He couldn't save her. No he is useless to begin with.
Ritsuka felt something deep in his soul-Mash had died because of him. He blamed himself.
A new weight pressed against the ground beside him.
A small, delicate hand landed atop his.
Olga.
She had collapsed beside him, her lifeless body mirroring his own.
Her fingers were intertwined with his. Soft fingers, fair and delicate, brushed against his own.
Director Olga.
Her last breath intertwined with his own.
The woman who had doubted him. The woman who had mocked him.
Even she had died beside him, in a pool of shared blood.
Useless.
That was what he was.
A blind fool, thrown into a war he could never fight.
His mind was slipping. His thoughts were breaking apart.
"Jerry... Mom... Everyone..."
Tears spilled down his bloodied cheeks.
'I'm sorry for being a useless, blind idiot.'
Ritsuka Fujimaru took his final breath.
And then
The world shattered.
A pair of golden eyes snapped open.
A quiet whimper.
Then a low, guttural growl.
Jerry-Ritsuka's faithful companion, his guide dog, his lifeline-stood on trembling legs.
Something inside her had awakened.
A divine spark.
The power of Precognition.
To see the future outcomes.
She could see it but not control it.
A gift. A curse. The divine power of a god of dogs now burned within her veins.
She could see Ritsuka's death.
She could see Mashu's death.
She could see the red-stained ruins of Chaldea's future.
She tried to smell her owner scent.
She found him far away yet alive. He still didn't met two womens.
Then it hadn't happened yet.
Which meant—
She could change the future.
Her paws dug into the ground as she bolted forward—
Only for a shadow to descend before her.
A giant.
A black shadow, a monster wrapped in madness, a force of raw destruction.
Heracles Alter.
His crimson eyes burned with primal rage as he swung his massive blade down, its sheer force enough to tear through steel, let alone flesh. A normal creature...no, even a warrior of great renown...would have been erased in an instant.
But the target of his wrath was no ordinary beast.
Jerry, the stray dog of Ritsuka, leaped to the side, dodging with a hair's breadth.
The dog's fur bristled.
She was small. She was weak.
But she was not afraid.
The ground shattered beneath the force of the blow, a shockwave rippling through the desolate cityscape of Fuyuki. Jerry didn't stop. She couldn't afford to.
Because she had already seen the future.
His broken, blind eyes, lifeless as blood pooled around him.
And she refused to let it happen.
This time..
Her master would not die. She had seen too much. She refused to let it happen.
This time...
She would change fate itself.
Heracles roared and lunged again, a black meteor crashing towards her.
Jerry's instincts screamed. She didn't fight like a warrior...she fought like a dog. She ran. She zigzagged between the debris, slipping through the narrow gaps between broken buildings, using the wreckage of the city as cover. She wasn't fast enough to outrun him completely, but she was small. He was big. That was her advantage.
But Heracles...
He did not care for obstacles.
Buildings collapsed under his sheer brute force. He pushed through walls as if they were made of paper. Nothing stopped him. Every step shook the ground. Every breath he exhaled was laced with rage and the desire to kill.
Jerry miscalculated.
She dodged right-too slow.
A black fist slammed into her ribs.
CRACK.
Pain.
Her vision blurred as her small body was hurled through the air. She hit the ground hard, rolling against shattered concrete. Bones were broken. Her legs refused to move properly.
The black titan loomed over her.
Jerry's vision wavered.
And then-
She saw it again.
-The future where she reached Ritsuka before escaping from this Gaint.
-Where she jumped in front of him to take the blow meant for him.
-Where she died in his arms.
"You saved my life, my friend. You can't die here. You can't leave me alone in this world."
His voice trembled. He was shaking, blind hands searching for her fur, desperate to keep her close.
"I'm scared of being alone, not the darkness. Please, don't leave me."
A wet whimper.
She saw herself smiling innocently even as her body gave out.
"You can't leave me!"
Again Alter Medusa voice the one who responsible for all deaths in two outcomes.
"How tragic? Fufu hahaha"
And she swing her lancer and stabbed in his heart. Ending his life.
Ritsuka screamed.
He died with Mashu and Olga again.
Jerry woke up.
Gasping, struggling.
No. Not yet.
The future wasn't set in stone.
She could change it.
She forced herself to her feet. Her broken bones screamed. Her legs were shaking. Her breath was ragged.
Jerry's body screamed in agony. But she refused to stop moving.
She stood.
Heracles stepped forward.
Then-light.
A golden glow enveloped her body. Her divine blessing activated. The wounds closed. Her legs stopped trembling. Strength returned. Her injuries healed in an instant. Divine power surged through her body.
The black beast swung his sword.
Jerry moved.
The future shifted.
She dodged. She sprinted-not away, but toward something. A ruined skyscraper.
Heracles pursued.
She accelerated. Faster. Faster. Jerry bolted. Faster than before. Faster than any living creature should be able to move.
She reached the building, kicked off the debris, and spun at the last moment.
Heracles couldn't react.
The giant's own momentum carried him forward.
The skyscraper collapsed.
A deafening crash. A dust cloud erupted, swallowing Heracles as the rubble came down over him.
Silence.
Jerry stopped. Panting. Watching.
Then-
A voice.
"You actually trapped that bastard."
Her ears perked.
"What an intelligent dog."
She turned.
A man in blue dress stood nearby, watching the scene with an impressed smirk.
"Hah, don't look so tense. I don't eat dogs." He shrugged. "I' m Cu Chulainn (Caster), though I got stuck in the wrong class. Bad luck, y' know?"
Jerry studied him.
He wasn't a threat.
And more importantly-he could help.
Jerry grabbed his sleeve with her teeth. She begged him to follow.
"Oh? You know where survivors are?" Cu raised an eyebrow, then grinned. "Alright, lead the way before that bastard free himself."
Jerry ran.
Cu followed.
The future had changed.
But the battle was far from over.
Ritsuka was still waiting.
And Jerry refused to let him face death alone.
