Chapter 32: 32
The soft light of dawn filtered through the paper screens of Ren's room, painting the tatami mats in hues of gold. He stretched, a contented sigh escaping his lips. Nonko's gift, the pressed flower notebook, lay beside him, a silent testament to a love that had blossomed across rewritten timelines. It was a beautiful, if slightly overwhelming, confession.
He mentally brought up his System window, checking his inventory. The shimmering icons of his accumulated Reality Tickets greeted him: five 'Ticket of Relationship', three 'Ticket of Skill', two 'Ticket of Intelligence', one 'Ticket of Talent', and the ominous 'Ticket of Despair'. Adding the newly acquired 'Ticket of Death', 'Ticket of Alive', and 'Ticket of Connection', Ren now possessed a formidable total of fifteen Reality Tickets.
While the sheer number was impressive, a flicker of concern crossed Ren's mind. The System had warned him about being overwhelmed. He decided to act. The 'Ticket of Intelligence' seemed like a safe bet. It simply boosted his intellect, a purely internal change with no immediate external complications.
"I command the Ticket of Intelligence to increase my intelligence," Ren mentally articulated, focusing on one of the shimmering tickets.
The ticket pulsed once, then dissolved into a thousand glittering motes of light that surged into his head. A familiar, subtle pressure built behind his eyes, then subsided, leaving him with a profound sense of clarity. His mind felt sharper, faster. He now possessed a photographic-like memory, capable of almost instantly memorizing anything he saw or read for a few minutes. He used the second 'Ticket of Intelligence' immediately, doubling down on the enhancement. The process was seamless, painless, and left him feeling even more mentally agile.
Ren was about to consider his next move when a thought struck him, a minor detail he had completely overlooked. He had forgotten to tell Chisaki about his engagement to Hibari and Sagiri. Chisaki knew Sagiri, but Hibari was a recent transfer; she wouldn't have met her yet. This, coupled with Chisaki's cute reaction to his "second lover" proposal he would have to address later. For now, his focus was on his Reality Tickets.
He gazed at the five 'Ticket of Relationship' cards, a powerful urge to use them on the Nakano sisters. He hadn't met all of them yet, but he knew they were here. Then, another thought surfaced: if Hachiman was here, then Yukinoshita Yukino and Yuigahama Yui were likely present too. He also recalled hearing comparisons between himself and Hayato Hayama from Class 2-F, implying that Miura Yumiko might also exist in this world. The possibilities for using the 'Ticket of Relationship' were endless, almost overwhelming.
Ren prided himself on his natural charm, a talent he received from reality tickets, but he didn't want to rely solely on the tickets to make someone fall in love. He enjoyed the process, the subtle dance of attraction. Using a 'Ticket of Relationship' felt almost too easy, too instantaneous. He wanted the challenge, the satisfaction of a genuine connection. He decided to hold off on using them for now. If he encountered another character he truly liked, he would consider it, but for now, he would depend on his "own" abilities.
He moved on to the three 'Ticket of Skill' cards. Did he need another skill? The answer was a resounding yes. He might have stolen Kogarashi's future and gained immense spiritual power, but practical skills were still valuable. He thought for a moment, then decided on three seemingly mundane, yet potentially useful, abilities.
"I command the first Ticket of Skill to grant me the ability to survive in any environment," Ren mentally articulated. The ticket dissolved, and a flood of innate knowledge about survival, from foraging in the wilderness to navigating urban jungles, flowed into his mind.
"I command the second Ticket of Skill to grant me the ability to ride any kind of vehicle," he continued, and a mastery over everything from bicycles to spaceships, from cars to ancient chariots, settled within him.
"I command the third Ticket of Skill to grant me the ability to use any technology, both new and old," he concluded, and a comprehensive understanding of all technological devices, from ancient mechanisms to futuristic gadgets, became his.
These skills might seem useless in the grand scheme of his reality-bending powers, but Ren reasoned that they might prove useful in unexpected situations. Besides, he would continue to accumulate more Reality Tickets in the future, so a few "wasted" ones now were negligible.
For his last use of a Reality Ticket today, he turned to the 'Ticket of Talent'. This was different from a 'Skill' ticket; it granted an inherent, inborn ability.
"I command the Ticket of Talent to make me naturally charming to any woman, regardless of their personality or preferences," Ren commanded.
The 'Ticket of Talent' pulsed intensely, then dissolved into pure light that surged into his head. There was no pain, no discomfort, just a subtle shift, a deepening of his inherent charisma. He found himself more observant, more attuned to the nuances of female psychology, instinctively knowing how to appeal to different personalities.
Ren felt no headache or ill effects from using his Reality Tickets today. He was good, perhaps even better than before. He still had the five 'Ticket of Relationship', 'Ticket of Despair', 'Ticket of Death', 'Ticket of Alive', and 'Ticket of Connection' remaining. He mentally queried the System about the newly acquired tickets. The System advised that the 'Ticket of Death' must be used on others.
Ren sighed inwardly. He had no time to dwell on these powerful, yet currently unneeded, tickets. He still needed to attend school today. The world, despite his newfound powers, continued to spin on its axis, demanding his attention.
