A Dual Crest Summoner In Infinite Summoning World

Chapter 27: You Are Indeed A Goat After All

A small wooden sword with a sharp dark edge was placed on the wooden table. Bandaged Dante sat at one side of the table with Sable beside him, Granny sitting near the open door of the front yard of their house.

"Can you explain?" the man asked.

It was Hanzo who was more injured between the two men. Dante had regained consciousness just three hours after getting bandaged up by Granny and Sable with the homemade herbal paste.

It had been five days since that incident. Hanzo had to be taken to the nearest town—Dante and a few people from the village had gone with him. It took two days for Hanzo to get in travelling condition. He had lost a lot of blood, but the wounds were not severe. For the whole journey to the town, Hanzo had been unconscious.

Auren had convinced Kenzo to stay with him as his father was taken to the town along with his mother. It wasn't easy keeping the kid entertained for two days. Kenzo was five years old and understood more than others gave the guy credit for—Auren knew him after staying together for years. He understood the situation was not good and did not act stubborn at all. Auren praised the guy and tried to keep his mind distracted all day.

Even Sable and Granny were in a tense situation till the third day when they came back. Dante may have woken up and was walking fine, but the extent of even his injury was unknown to them—only the healer in the town where the lord resided could tell them if the wounds were serious or not. Thankfully, both men had recoverable injuries.

Dante had taken the small wooden sword with him. The case of Hanzo was serious, so there was no time to discuss what had happened and who had done what. But once they came back and had rested for a day—the next morning finally, Dante sat him down and asked the question.

Auren simply summoned his obsidian rock and removed the dark particles from the sword. Keeping the stone in his palm, he changed the structure of the black particles from a simple wine glass to a more complex small wolf and then a simple replica of their own house. Needless to say, the three people could not take their eyes off the moving black material at all. He said while changing shapes,

"I can control it with the black stone. It takes any form I think of—uses Chi to make changes though. When I use Chi like this, it doesn't affect my body."

Only when he stopped changing shapes and kept the particles in a simple thick bracelet and wore it on his small hand did their stupor break.

"Why didn't you tell us?" Sable asked.

"It's not normal, is it?" Auren explained his reasoning in simple terms.

"Auren, you can't hide things just because you think it will be inconvenient for us," Dante said with his hands crossed on his chest.

"Yes," Sable agreed. "How many times do we have to tell you that we are your family—there is nothing that you can't tell us. Besides, this is a good thing, right?"

Dante nodded, "This is the most unique summon I have seen. Two summons connected to each other—not that there are many dual crest people in this world. Still, I have never heard of such a thing. Let alone a summon that uses Chi after it is summoned."

Sable and Grandma glared at Dante. The guy realized only a second later and coughed awkwardly, then added,

"Of course, shapeshifting summon material has a lot of potential. It can be turned into any weapon or tool needed, it can unlock any lock. Depending on the hardness and toughness of the material and the speed of shaping, it might become the best defensive summon ever if shaped like a shield in time of need."

Sable smiled, and so did his Grandma. The meaning was clear—with the help of this summon that was not useless anymore, he could go very far in this world. He had many options and a bright future if he used the ability in the correct way.

Dante looked at Auren with a face that was deep in thought—the guy had seen how much material Auren could summon at once and having enough to make shapes like this. It was clear he had learned to summon way before Dante taught him that. The other two members of his family were too happy about his changed summons to care for the details. Dante didn't mention it, but it was clear he wouldn't let this thing go.

Auren also felt weirdly relieved that he wouldn't have to hide his black material now, or the fact that he spent a considerable amount of time practicing the shapeshifting. His family was happy for him—he was not lectured, no one had scolded him for hiding it even when Dante had realized he had lied to them for quite a while now.

"You did good, boy," Dante said. "Fighting three Thralls and managing to survive without a single scratch—that is the bravest thing I have ever heard a first-time warrior do."

"Still—you shouldn't have done that without asking," Sable said with a serious face.

Auren nodded, "There wasn't much time to decide—so I just acted without thinking."

"You are indeed a goat after all," Grandma said from the side. "Helping others without thinking does not come naturally to most people, kid."

Auren nodded, accepting the compliment gracefully.

Things had changed after that day. He was more trusted—by both his own parents and Kenzo's parents. The thing they both kept mentioning and thanking him for was not saving Hanzo but taking care of Kenzo through all of this. Kenzo's mother especially kissed his chubby cheeks again and again whenever he went to their house or she came to his house.

The best thing that came out of it, however—other than the life of two men—was that now he was allowed to go out in the village on his own. Guess if one managed to kill two of such harrowing creatures, the fear of men was not worth considering, at least for the simple folks of the village.
