A New Generation of Ninja

Chapter 8: A Run in with Old Friends

Itachi looked at the three shinobi standing before him. "That's mean Kakashi." He said sounding like he was in pain yet enjoying the sound of making people suffer. Then again, I could make the three of you suffer."

Asuma stared at him. "There's no way that a ninja such as you would do that to a kid like Naruto."

Itachi grinned. "I would never."

Meanwhile, Kat was looking for Naruto around the places she knew he would be. The Ninja Academy, his house, the swing just on the lone tree by the building, or the Hokage's Office where she ran into an old friend. "Hey, Kat. Over here."

Kat looked up where she saw her best friend, Shikana Nara. The older sister of Shikamaru. She went on many missions with Kat and Itachi before the couple was labeled as S-rank criminals. "Shikana, what are you doing here?"

Shikana smiled. "I was just on my way to see Lady Tusnade to report on a mission. If I knew you were in the village I would have asked if you want to go shopping."

A smile came over Kat's face. I would love to go shopping with you, girl. But I'm not here to catch up," she thought. That sounds fun. I just got back from seeing Sakura. She seems so sad."

Shikana nodded. "She's been sitting there a few days for a while. Sakura hasn't been herself lately."

"What do you mean?"

"Sasuke up and left with your saying much. We haven't seen him."

Kat looked at her. "What you mean he just left? 12-year-old boys don't up and leave? Are you sure that he wasn't with Kakashi?"

Shikana nodded. "That's what Lady Tusdane thought at first but thinks that Orochimaru abducted him."

"Or maybe Kakashi was too distracted by someone to keep an eye on him."

Shikana looked at her old friend with a hurt look on her face. "What's that meant to mean?"

"I think you know what I mean, Shika." Kat turned on her heel and left.
