Chapter 198: Merus Is Left Speechless
After learning that Zuke's target was to eliminate Frieza, Merus' attitude became noticeably more favorable compared to before.
Although Merus had already been quite friendly toward Zuke, there was still a sense of formality and distance—just enough to feel like courteous strangers.
But now, Zuke could clearly sense that Merus regarded him as a genuinely good person, and his demeanor improved accordingly.
"If you can master Moro's magical techniques and use planetary energy to assist in battle, defeating Frieza would indeed be possible," Merus remarked.
Since Zuke's goal was to eliminate Frieza, Merus had no objections to him learning Moro's magical techniques. In fact, he even offered some advice.
"That said, Frieza's situation is rather peculiar... I can sense another power within him. He's likely far from as simple as he seems."
The Galactic Patrol and Frieza's army had encountered each other before, but Frieza's forces always presented themselves as "legitimate businessmen" when dealing with the patrol.
Their invasions were conducted covertly, far from the patrol's watchful eyes.
Additionally, the Galactic Patrol often lacked the strength to arrest them, leaving them unchecked.
Of course, Frieza's forces also didn't dare to attack the Galactic Patrol directly.
Though the patrol itself wasn't powerful, their leader—the Galactic King—had enough influence to potentially draw in formidable allies, such as a Kai.
Thus, while there hadn't been direct conflict between the two sides, they had crossed paths several times. As the Galactic Patrol's top officer, Merus naturally had met Frieza.
This so-called emperor of the universe usually appeared polite, seated in a small spacecraft. Even when he took action, he rarely left his seat, a testament to his confidence in his own strength.
However, as a trainee angel, Merus had observed that Frieza possessed a significant amount of untapped power. The Frieza everyone knew might not reflect his full capabilities.
"That's right. Frieza belongs to a race capable of transformations. He can transform three times, reverting to his true form," Merus explained.
Zuke gave Merus a surprised glance, not expecting him to have noticed the latent power within Frieza.
After all, in the original story, Frieza had claimed that no one but his father had ever seen his fully transformed state.
To outsiders, Frieza's first form was his most familiar and assumed to be his only form.
Even for a trainee angel like Merus, it would be impossible to know Frieza's final transformation.
However, being an angel, Merus could sense the unutilized energy hidden within Frieza's body.
"According to Frieza's army's scouters, his full power level should be around 120 million," Merus speculated.
"A race capable of transformations… There are indeed such beings. The Galactic Prison holds quite a few of them," he added, growing more serious.
"By the way, Mr. Zuke, what is your power level?"
Power levels were based on Frieza's army's scouter standards, not the universal system. Different individuals used varying methods to measure strength.
For instance, the magician Babidi had his own independent system for gauging power.
Unfamiliar with Frieza's power-level evaluation methods, Merus had no concrete understanding of what "120 million" meant.
"...Roughly 40,000, I'd say," Zuke replied.
This estimate came from his battle with Nail. Without utilizing additional abilities, Zuke's power level was slightly above Nail's.
If he activated the "Mad Enhancement" ability from the Fate universe, his power level could jump to around 80,000.
Combined with his various Stand abilities, Zuke was confident he could defeat opponents with power levels of several hundred thousand or more.
Some Stand abilities excelled in surprise attacks, making them highly effective unless the power disparity was too great.
But compared to 120 million…
"..."
Merus was momentarily speechless.
For a trainee angel like Merus, Frieza's strength wasn't noteworthy. He hadn't thought much of 120 million as a power level.
But hearing that Zuke's power level was only 40,000? The gap was staggering.
That was less than a fraction of Frieza's full power.
Merus finally understood why Zuke was so eager to learn Moro's magical techniques.
If Zuke confronted Frieza in his current state, it would be a one-sided slaughter.
Under these circumstances, Zuke needed every possible method to enhance his strength, and learning from Moro was a logical choice.
"Frieza's power is far greater than I imagined," Merus admitted.
Although he wished he could help Zuke, as a trainee angel, Merus was forbidden from directly intervening.
After some thought, he looked at Zuke and said, "If you're willing, I can help train you later. While I can't improve your magical abilities, I can help increase your combat power."
Hearing this, Zuke's eyes lit up.
This was angelic training. Even from a trainee angel, it would undoubtedly be beneficial.
In Dragon Ball Super, Goku and Vegeta had improved significantly under angelic training, with Goku even beginning to grasp Ultra Instinct.
Merus offering to train him was an incredible opportunity.
More importantly, Merus wasn't a criminal—unlike Moro. Merus could accompany Zuke to his spaceship and train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
Training for just one hour there would equate to six days.
"Thank you, Merus," Zuke said, immediately agreeing and expressing his request. "However, I'd like to change the training location. Can we start tomorrow?"
"A different location? That's fine. As long as I'm not on a mission, I can train with you anytime," Merus replied, unaware of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber in Zuke's spaceship.
The location didn't matter to an angel; they could train anywhere.
As for starting tomorrow? Zuke's playtime in the mission world was almost up, and his spaceship was still parked on King Kai's planet. Tomorrow, he'd bring it to the Galactic Patrol headquarters.
