Chapter 99: Yes, I Have a Connection with Angels
In the Celestial Realm, a world for both the deceased and the gods, regions include the Palace of King Yemma, Heaven, Hell, and more. Not far from the Palace of King Yemma, across the distant Snake Way, lies King Kai's Planet.
King Kai's Planet, though technically a planet, is quite small as an independent celestial body—its surface area is estimated to be smaller than a typical village.
Above the Celestial Realm is the Supreme Kai's Realm, a place inaccessible to both mortals and lower-ranked gods. However, Zuke's current objective is unrelated to that.
On King Kai's Planet, North Kai was sitting as usual at the door of his house, reading a newspaper, with a cup of tea on a small table beside him.
His pet monkey, Bubbles, was running around on the grass, making the scene look very harmonious.
But soon, North Kai sensed a strange presence—he wasn't weak, and he quickly realized something was approaching.
"What the...?"
He set down his newspaper and looked up at the sky.
There was nothing around King Kai's Planet except the Serpent Path, so nothing should appear in the sky. But when he looked up, he saw a massive object descending from above—a glass-like cubic vessel with four spaceship-like legs.
"That... that's a cubic spaceship?!"
North Kai immediately recognized the object hovering over his planet, jumping from his seat in shock.
While others might not recognize it, he certainly did! This was the type of ship used by angels and Gods of Destruction, something that no one else would ever get their hands on!
Which meant that even if the visitor wasn't an angel or a God of Destruction, they were certainly connected to them—someone he dared not offend!
"Squeak?"
But Bubbles, being a monkey, looked confused as North Kai suddenly stood up respectfully, and curiously trotted over.
"Back off, Bubbles! Don't mess around; someone important is coming!"
North Kai hurriedly shooed Bubbles to the side, fearful that the monkey might offend this VIP.
Bubbles, being a smart monkey, sensed something and quickly retreated into the house.
With North Kai watching respectfully, the cubic spaceship slowly descended onto King Kai's Planet, and its door opened.
Then, Zuke walked out with a calm expression.
The gravity of King Kai's Planet is ten times that of Earth and Namek, similar to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. So, stepping out of the spaceship didn't cause Zuke any discomfort.
Though the spaceship had only been flying through the universe for two hours, Zuke had been training inside it for nearly a month.
Now, even though he didn't look very different on the outside, his strength had increased significantly, and he had fully mastered the techniques of the Turtle School.
He could now release the Kamehameha with maximum destructive power.
"Uh… Esteemed sir, may I ask why you've come to King Kai's Planet?"
North Kai, not recognizing Zuke, dared not ask anything inappropriate with a godly spaceship in the background.
Though Zuke looked fairly normal, his appearance was… rather rough. His clothes were torn, and there was a large bloodstain on his chest, as if his heart had been gouged out.
—And in fact, it had been.
To test the Saiyan trait of gaining strength after near-death, Zuke had dug out his own heart with a black bird, plunging himself into death.
But his immortality quickly revived him, with the result...
No increase.
It seemed that half-killing himself wasn't enough to trigger it, leaving Zuke regretting not asking Nail to kill him a few more times.
"So, you're North Kai?"
Oblivious to North Kai's inner complaints about his ragged look, Zuke looked down at the small North Kai before him.
North Kai's power level was not weak for ordinary beings—3,500 combat power was considered solid even within Frieza's army.
Previously, Zuke might have given this some thought, but now his power level far exceeded North Kai's, so he didn't care much about it.
"Yes, esteemed sir. May I know where you come from?"
Cold sweat dripped down North Kai's face as he forced a smile.
Though he prided himself on his comedic expertise, facing an unknown figure possibly related to angels, he suppressed any urge to test the visitor's humor.
This also showed a difference from Zuno's subordinates—Zuno, the strongest information broker, had attendants who instantly recognized Zuke as a Saiyan.
Yet North Kai hadn't realized it, perhaps because Zuke lacked a tail.
"You don't need to worry about that; I'm here to ask you for a favor."
Zuke noticed that North Kai seemed very restrained and quickly realized why he was so tense.
This saved Zuke a lot of trouble; if he'd come as a normal person, North Kai would likely have challenged him with a bad joke.
Japanese pun-based humor wasn't Zuke's strength, so avoiding that challenge was ideal.
Since North Kai seemed to believe he was associated with higher gods, Zuke didn't mind using the names of angels or Gods of Destruction to accomplish his goals.
After all, Beerus was still sleeping, and Whis wouldn't leave Beerus's side without reason, so they'd never know he'd used their names.
"You know the techniques Kaioken and Spirit Bomb, right? Could you teach them to me?"
If there was anything North Kai had to offer, it was certainly Kaioken and the Spirit Bomb.
No need to explain Kaioken; before becoming a Super Saiyan, Goku relied on it to contend with Frieza.
And the Spirit Bomb had almost taken Frieza down, to the point where Frieza thought he was a goner.
While gathering energy for the Spirit Bomb took quite a while, Zuke was eager to learn it—better to have more skills.
Besides, North Kai was a skilled martial artist himself; learning Kaioken and Spirit Bomb from him would likely boost Zuke's abilities further.
"This... well, I suppose I could."
North Kai hesitated but didn't refuse—if anyone else had asked for Kaioken and the Spirit Bomb, he would have declined.
In the original story, he hadn't taught even Piccolo or Tien these moves; only Goku had learned them from him.
But since North Kai believed Zuke to be connected to angels and Gods of Destruction, he didn't dare to refuse.
"By the way, don't tell Whis or Beerus about this, understand?"
"Y-yes, understood!"
North Kai's heart raced as he agreed without hesitation.
—So it was true; this person did have connections with Beerus and the angels!
