A Silent Voice: My First Kiss Was with Nishimiya Shouko

Chapter 74: Chapter 74: I Don’t Believe This Is Happening

"Let's teach this guy a lesson. Watch closely—it's not like I was scared before. I was just giving Takeuchi-sensei some face."

Ishida Shouya muttered as he bent down and rummaged through Akira's desk drawer. When he saw the familiar black thermos inside—the one that had nearly knocked him out earlier—he was 100% sure he had the right seat.

The students around them perked up at the commotion, sensing that something dramatic was about to unfold. Chatter stopped. Bento boxes were momentarily forgotten. All eyes turned to Shouya.

Kawai Miki quickly stood up, her tone firm. "Ishida! Stop messing around! Do you really want your parents called on the first day of school?" She didn't want to be dragged into any drama as the new Class Monitor.

Shouya straightened up, holding a couple of textbooks, and sneered. "Mind your own business. Just because you're the Class Monitor doesn't mean you can boss me around. Keep it up, and I'll tear your books too."

The audacity of his words stunned the class. Kawai Miki's face turned red with frustration, and she opened her mouth to respond—but a calm voice cut through the tension like a knife.

"What are you doing with my textbooks?"

The voice wasn't loud, but it carried enough weight to silence the room. Heads turned toward the door. Standing there was Miyamura Akira, expression unreadable, his eyes fixed on Shouya.

"Naoka, go get Takeuchi-sensei," Miki whispered urgently to Ueno Naoka, shaking her arm.

Naoka nodded and quickly dashed out the back door.

Back in the classroom, Shouya picked up a Japanese textbook and waved it mockingly. "Relax, I'm just teaching you a little lesson."

Without a word, Akira stepped inside, grabbed the nearest folding umbrella from another student's desk, and threw it with perfect aim.

Shouya barely had time to register the movement before the umbrella struck his shoulder, knocking him off balance. He stumbled back, and before he could recover, Akira was already in front of him, grabbing him by the collar.

A pale fist loomed in front of Shouya's face—then stopped just inches short.

Everyone froze.

Then, in a soft voice, Akira turned to Kawai Miki. "Class Monitor, you sent someone to get the teacher, right?"

Miki nodded wordlessly, still in shock. Akira gave her a small, polite smile in return.

At the back of the class, Hirose Keisuke whispered, "Ikki, should we… go help him?"

Shimada Ikki shook his head. "No need. Kawai already sent Naoka to get the homeroom teacher. He'll be here soon. If we step in now, it'll just make things worse."

Just then, a loud voice boomed down the hallway:

"What's going on?! I leave for ten minutes and you're already starting fights?!"

Takeuchi-sensei stormed into the classroom, out of breath and furious. He'd barely taken a bite of lunch when Naoka burst into the teacher's office, telling him Ishida was trying to beat up Miyamura. He had panicked—especially with Minagawa-sensei nearby, laughing at his misfortune—and bolted back to class.

But instead of Miyamura, it was Ishida Shouya lying on the floor, clutching his shoulder and sniffling.

"Call his parents," Akira said calmly, nodding toward Shouya.

Takeuchi-sensei blinked. "Wait—what happened to him?"

He crouched down to check on Shouya, still trying to piece everything together. "Miyamura, explain."

Akira casually opened his desk, pulled out his thermos, and sat in Shouko's chair. After taking a long sip, he replied calmly:

"He tried to take my books. Got hit by an umbrella. Lost balance and fell. Then he cried."

Takeuchi-sensei looked at him in disbelief. Really? Just that? If he didn't know Ishida's history of causing trouble, he might have believed him.

Kawai Miki quickly stepped forward. "Sensei, it's true. I saw the whole thing. Others can back it up too." She didn't want to get dragged into a long meeting later—though the memory of Akira's smile may have added a little urgency to her honesty.

(Miyamura Akira: I did nothing! Don't slander me! My heart belongs to Shouko!)

Takeuchi-sensei gave her a serious look. "Alright, tell me everything—exactly as it happened."

Ueno Naoka returned right as Kawai launched into her detailed account. Over the next few minutes, she explained everything: Ishida trying to tear Akira's books, Akira returning, grabbing the umbrella, hitting him, and then almost punching him before stopping.

"So the only injury is the umbrella hit?" Takeuchi-sensei confirmed.

Several students nodded.

He let out a long sigh. "Kawai, watch the class. You two—come with me."

He motioned for Akira and Ishida to follow as he headed toward the hallway.

As Akira passed by Sakamoto Kana (the umbrella's owner), he paused and said politely,

"I'll buy you a new folding umbrella. Let me know if you want a replacement or just the cash."

The classroom door closed behind them—and the room instantly erupted.

Some students whispered about how crazy the scene was. Others debated what kind of punishment Miyamura might get—or Ishida. A few went back to their bentos like nothing had happened.
