Abnormal Type-Moon

Chapter 169: [169] The Outcome is Decided

"How could...this be..."

In the stands above, Toudou Kouichirou witnessed this scene, his face turning ashen like withered weeds.

"It seems the result is already determined!"

"Though I'd like to say we shouldn't jump to conclusions until the very end, the situation is indeed quite clear now. Contestant Toudou Kirin might not even be able to defeat Roy alone, let alone with Julis added to the mix."

Even Claudia on the commentary platform regretfully concluded with a pessimistic assessment.

The first and seventh ranked at Seidoukan Academy, the strongest long-range fighter and the strongest close-combat specialist—this duo could even compete for the Phoenix Festa championship. Yet unexpectedly, they were defeated internally at the academy before even attending the Festa.

But this was also good for the school.

Because being able to defeat Toudou Kirin and Tonno Mozuhi head-on meant their opponents were far stronger than both of them. If these two were to participate in the Phoenix Festa...

"Hmm, but why does it have to be Julis?"

Claudia pondered silently.

To be fair, anything Julis could do, she could do too.

And she was here first!

On the battlefield.

"Your opponent is Kirin, you know. Is it really okay to be this relaxed?"

Julis couldn't help but chuckle dryly as she looked at Roy standing not far ahead.

"Just a small effort."

Roy smiled indifferently.

"If I hadn't managed to block that just now, I wouldn't have planned to take the hit for you either. But I didn't expect I'd actually succeed in blocking it."

This was the truth. Roy had only helped Julis within the scope of his capabilities.

In fact, he hadn't known whether his strike with a regular Lux could withstand a full-powered attack from an Orga Lux. If it hadn't held, Julis would likely have been eliminated by now.

Fortunately, his massive amount of prana was truly advantageous.

Or rather, the magical aptitude he was born with as a homunculus was exceptionally outstanding. After adapting to prana, his capacity for it became extraordinarily vast.

Incidentally, the reason he could manipulate prana so easily was because magi inherently found it simple to control mana—even apprentice magi could manipulate it with great finesse. Thus, after his mana adapted to prana, Roy could naturally wield it as effortlessly as moving his own limbs.

"I know you're amazing already. Hurry up, your opponent is waiting for you."

Julis rolled her eyes and gestured toward the opposite side of the arena, clutching her injured abdomen as she retreated to the edge of the stage.

On the other side, Toudou Kirin stood ready for battle.

Roy nodded and stepped forward toward Kirin.

As he walked, he drew the spare sword-type Lux from the sheath at his waist and activated it.

"Kirin, it's time to decide the outcome."

"Yes, please instruct me!"

Toudou Kirin's expression was calm.

Strangely, though she was about to lose, she felt as if she'd already won.

The match resumed.

This time, Roy gave no verbal warnings nor allowed Kirin any space to adapt.

He took a step forward, the tremendous pressure causing the ground beneath his feet to crack, spiderweb-like fissures spreading outward.

Immediately after, his sword descended as if splitting the very air itself, slashing toward Toudou Kirin.

Toudou Kirin didn't dare confront him directly and quickly retreated, causing Roy's blade to swing through empty air. But Roy pressed his advantage, chasing after Kirin relentlessly.

Kirin kept retreating until she reached the edge of the stage.

Though it seemed she had nowhere left to go, the moment Roy's next slash came sweeping in, she suddenly crouched low and rolled away in an ungraceful tumble.

Boom!

Roy's blade struck the defensive barrier directly, producing a deep, resonant sound like temple bells at dawn.

Crack!

For an instant, a hairline fracture appeared on the barrier's surface.

The audience watching just beyond the barrier held their breath in suspense.

Fortunately, the stage's defensive barrier was powered by a massive device installed in the venue, providing continuous energy. Unless shattered in one blow, any cracks would instantly repair themselves.

"That was too close! They say only an Orga Lux can break that barrier. This special admit Roy is just ridiculous!"

"Don't forget he just destroyed a Meteor Arts attack from an Orga Lux head-on earlier."

"...I'm beyond words. Just terrifying."

Back on stage.

As Kirin rolled back to her feet, she saw Roy's blade embedded in the barrier. Her eyes narrowed as she counterattacked, aiming for the school emblem on Roy's chest.

This was her last resort—using the barrier's indestructible nature to make Roy recoil from his own power, creating an opening.

This instant was her final chance!

Crack!

In the blink of an eye, an emblem split in two and fell to the ground.

"Toudou Kirin, emblem damaged. Disqualified."

The mechanical announcement rang out.

Kirin looked down at her now emblemless chest, then at Roy's composed smile.

"Too bad. I didn't get recoil damage."

"...I've lost."

Kirin conceded wholeheartedly.

Internally, she couldn't help but grumble—no matter how strong someone was, the recoil should affect them. It was an immutable law of biology.

To withstand even that... just how absurd is Roy-senpai's physical ability?

He really is a monster!

"Match decided! Winners: Roy & Julis team!"

"OOOOOHHHH!!!"

As the dust settled, the entire audience erupted into deafening cheers.

***

After the match, Julis went ahead to the infirmary for treatment.

"Congratulations! You've made quite a name for yourself now!"

Claudia descended from the commentator's booth, approaching Roy with an amused smile.

"Does that mean I can upgrade to a mansion?"

"Afraid not. While this match will likely establish you as Seidoukan's strongest in public opinion, it was a two-on-two simulated battle. Defeating Kirin here doesn't replace her as the official #1."

Meaning he'd need to defeat Kirin in a proper one-on-one duel or challenge match to claim the top spot.

"What a shame."

Roy sighed.

If those were the rules, so be it.

"Though there is one place that's not just a huge mansion, but also has an extremely soft bed!"

Claudia smiled suggestively at him.

"Where would that be?"

"Where else could it be?"

Claudia took a step forward, gracefully wrapping her slender arms around his neck, practically draping herself over him with a gaze so sultry it could melt steel.

She leaned close to Roy's ear, her breath warm and fragrant.

"Come to my room tonight~"
