Chapter 158 Xiao Buli's Excellent Plan
Yaoyao nodded and strode away, passing by Situ Yu, she cheekily winked at her, "Aren't you going to arrest me, Officer? I just killed someone, or maybe you plan to thank me, after all, I just saved your life."
Situ Yu was almost speechless from Yaoyao's tease, she gritted her teeth as she looked at Yaoyao's smiling face, with the bloody dagger still tightly clenched in her hand. She had no doubt that if she really tried to arrest Yaoyao, she would be stabbed immediately.
In the end, she managed to force a smile, "Thanks, but if there's a chance in the future, I'll still catch you."
Yaoyao gave a shrug, "As you wish, it would be strange if you didn't want to arrest me." Saying that, her figure flashed and she disappeared.
After Yaoyao left, the person who was like a shadow came over. The dark layer covering him had faded, revealing his ordinary human appearance—a young man who seemed honest and slow-witted.
"Are you Lu Xinying?" Xiao Buli asked, he vaguely remembered the name. Wu Min'er had mentioned him, saying that Lu Xinying was the only person she could trust under her command.
The man nodded, "I am Lu Xinying. Wu asked me to tell you that she has started her move. It's your turn to act fast."
Xiao Buli nodded. This was not surprising to him; Wu Min'er was never the type of woman who liked to wait for orders or follow others' commands.
"Then you should leave quickly as well. Things are about to heat up here," he said.
Lu Xinying nodded and disappeared in a flash.
"Guys who can 'Stealth' are really annoying," Xiao Buli muttered to himself. This sudden appearance and disappearance style made him feel uneasy, but he seemed to forget that he was barely in the same profession.
Xiao Buli turned back to look at Situ Yu, "I think you'd better leave too. Many people are going to die here today." Situ Yu was startled by his words, looking at the bodies scattered on the ground, "Aren't there enough dead already?"
Xiao Buli shook his head, "Not nearly enough, and more importantly, the one who deserves to die the most hasn't died yet."
As he said this, he suddenly realized how cold-hearted he had become. Facing so many dead, he felt neither nausea nor fear, even though one of the dead was killed by his own hands. Could it be that the experience of killing in the game also reflected in reality? Or had he blurred the lines between reality and the game to the point where he no longer cared about life?
"Aren't you leaving?" Situ Yu asked with some concern.
"I still have things to do," Xiao Buli said, giving Situ Yu a strange look, "Why are you so worried about me?"
"Nothing, just don't want to owe you a favor since you just saved my life."
"Whatever," Xiao Buli said casually, then suddenly had a thought, "Maybe you can do me a favor and then we'll be even..."
Situ Yu left, filled with unease. But Xiao Buli did not leave; he looked at Li Jian's body on the ground, deep in thought. Whose fault was Li Jian's death? He hadn't come to an answer when a voice already came from afar.
"Oh my God, what exactly happened here!"
It was Ouyang's voice, the one who looked like a college professor. Besides Qin Shimoon, Ouyang was the one who had the most interaction with Xiao Buli. His astonished voice carried a bit of pretension.
Xiao Buli sneered in his heart; he didn't believe for a second that the higher-ups hadn't been monitoring the situation through surveillance; his words could only suggest one thing—they were still trying to cover up the truth.
"I think that's a question I should be asking you," Xiao Buli retorted while turning around. At the entrance to the elevator, Ouyang was walking towards him, followed by four buff bodyguards. Each bodyguard was holding a pistol, looking around warily, subtly protecting Ouyang.
Another person, who looked timid, was trailing behind Ouyang, and Xiao Buli recognized him as a regular member from White Tiger group, likely someone who had escaped upstairs during the chaos.
"What do you mean?" Ouyang asked, taken aback by Xiao Buli's question.
Xiao Buli glared at him irritably, "You know exactly what I'm talking about." With that, he turned and walked away.
"Hey, where are you going? I am your superior, and I'm talking to you," Ouyang shouted. Continue reading at My Virtual Library Empire
"I quit!" Xiao Buli turned back and said fiercely. A bodyguard tensely raised his gun, but Ouyang waved him off, indicating there was no need for alarm.
But Xiao Buli was not done venting, "What the hell is going on with this company? I had my suspicions, but after what Liu Zijian said, I almost believed it. Now I realize how stupid I was. I don't care what is happening here; I'm out. I'm not sticking around to die with you guys, especially before those monsters reach here—I'm leaving!"
As he spoke, he was both enraged and agitated. His performance was partly an act, but it also contained the dissatisfaction he'd accumulated over the past days, so it was utterly convincing.
Ouyang looked somewhat embarrassed, but still said, "You can't leave. It's in the contract, you must obey the company..."
"Fuck the contract," Xiao Buli interrupted Ouyang rudely, "Fuck the company, and fuck the game. Do whatever you want; I've no intention of dying with you. I'm getting out of here before those monsters show up!"
