Chapter 47: Serpent People_2
With a deafening boom, the ground cracked open under the explosion, lightning danced wildly like silver threads, scurrying in every direction. Serpent People near the blast were instantly turned to ashes, while those farther away convulsed under the electric shock, their bodies twisting in the rain.
With a single stroke, Xiao Buli astonishingly killed and injured dozens of Serpent People. He couldn't help but be surprised, but he quickly analyzed why the sword could unleash such tremendous power. The Nine Heavens Thunder Fire Sword could channel the thunder and lightning element from the sky, and with the storm clouds rolling in today, the elements it channeled were particularly intense, naturally increasing its might. Had it been during daylight, it probably wouldn't have been as effective.
Having struck a powerful blow, Xiao Buli felt a sense of relief, all the stuffiness and irritation he had felt in the cave dissipated. With an excited shout, he thought to himself that even the heavens were on his side, with the annoying thunderstorm weather now turning to his advantage. While contemplating this, Xiao Buli didn't stop, launching two more Nine Heavens Thunder Fire Swords, blasting the Serpent People army's formation into disarray.
But these Serpent People were truly fierce, a few that slipped through the net were already upon him. They didn't retreat but advanced, charging at him in a rush.
Claws extended from their hands and scraped off more than a dozen health points from Xiao Buli. Before, he might have thought this negligible, but ever since equipping the Heart of the Earth, his way of assessing an opponent's combat strength had completely changed—any attack that could make him bleed usually meant it was relatively strong.
Fortunately, at this moment, he wasn't troubled by defense and easily switched weapons. With the Ancient Frost Blade in hand, he swung it horizontally—an ordinary Mysterious Ice Slash! Boosted by the Ice Blade's attributes, the Mysterious Ice Slash emitted a transparent, crystalline light, like a half-moon-shaped crystal blade, creating a mist of blood as it swept through the Serpent People's ranks.
The dozen or so Serpent People at the forefront were practically cleaved in two, the severed ends glowing like water, the frozen wound not even having time to spurt blood, leaving their bifurcated bodies in a heap.
Hahaha, Xiao Buli was startled at his own handiwork, amazed at how powerful he had become. These Serpent People were Elite Level units, some with hundreds or even thousands of health points. In the past, even well-equipped, organized teams would be wary of them, yet here he was, wiping them out in just a few moves.
Surprise quickly turned into a desire for slaughter. Discovering his own strength, Xiao Buli didn't wait for them to attack. He charged forward, sword in hand, and entered the monsters' ranks, cutting them down as if chopping vegetables. In moments, he had slain another dozen. Although nearly a hundred Serpent People had been killed by his hand in just a short time, their numbers did not seem to dwindle. Xiao Buli curiously looked ahead, and through the curtains of heavy rain, he saw countless Serpent Demons continuously pouring out of the great pit, swarming in layer upon layer. This was no way to proceed, he thought; as strong as Xiao Buli was, he ultimately had a mortal body, and his True Yuan Points would run out eventually. With that thought, Xiao Buli decided to take a risk.
Mysterious Ice Slash! Xiao Buli bellowed, unleashing another wave of Sword Qi, following the arc of the crescent Qi. Seeing his energy fading, with Serpent People swarming him from all sides, he tapped his toes on the ground and performed a Cloud Thunder Leap straight into the sky. As his figure vanished, numerous Serpent People overwhelmed his previous position. Their claws and fangs found no flesh to tear into. The surrounding Serpent People were still confused about how he disappeared in an instant, but before they could react, those flooding in from behind had already toppled over them. Under the intense pressure, the Serpent Demons in front desperately turned their bodies to avoid being crushed to death. Amidst the snake formation, bubbling like boiling water, the hissing filled the air. At that moment, a sudden whoosh resounded from the sky, followed by a Thunder Shock striking straight down.
Boom! The Serpent Demons, already entangled with each other, were now inevitably caught in the fierce explosion. Blood and flesh flew all around, as radiating lines of viscera erupted outwards. Amidst the blood and flesh raining down, Xiao Buli kneeled at the epicenter of the blast, surrounded by the blood and broken limbs of the Serpent Demons.
"Come on, come at me again," Xiao Buli stood up in the pouring rain and shouted, "Let's see if you're enough for me to slaughter!" As he roared, he drew his sword and looked around. Those Serpent Demons on the periphery that had either suffered minor injuries or were unharmed seemed stunned by the recent scene. They circled around him in horror, seemingly unsure whether to attack or not.
"Hiss~~" Suddenly, a massive hissing sound erupted above Xiao Buli's head. He looked up to see about twenty Serpent Demons crowded around the entrance of the cave. For some reason, they seemed unwilling to leave the cave, but clearly, the Serpent Demons on the ground were following their orders. The moment the hissing started, the calm on the ground was shattered, and several particularly robust Serpent Demons broke through the crowd, charging straight at Xiao Buli.
Mid-charge, a Serpent Person tilted its head back and spat a stream of venom, transforming it into a poison arrow that shot towards Xiao Buli. This seemed to be a signal; in an instant, those in the front opened their vast maws and behind them, more Serpent Demons continued to surge forward, launching a rain of poison arrows. Xiao Buli quickly activated his Mixed Yuan Condensing Light Shield, absorbing some of the damage. Although the poison arrows didn't deal high damage, they carried a poisoning effect. Unfortunately, since they didn't hit Xiao Buli, they were rendered ineffective. Despite this, Xiao Buli couldn't afford to withstand their assault for long.
Moreover, the encirclement of Serpent Demons was closing in tighter and tighter, seemingly about to trap him to death within. Of course, Xiao Buli could immediately use Cloud Thunder Leap to escape, but now he had a better idea.
"Since you won't come to me, then I'll come to you," Xiao Buli said, and as soon as the words left his lips, he held his sword and slightly changed his hand gesture. With a whoosh, a colossal figure appeared in the midst of the Serpent Demons. Its enormous triangular head blinked two rows of lantern-like eyes, and the cracks in its dark skin seemed to be scorched with flames—it was none other than the Lava Giant Python. As a ferocious beast from the Immortal Realm, the python was indeed like an ancestor to these Serpent Demons. Its sudden appearance sent the Serpent People scurrying back in terror. The python stretched out slightly, almost crushing several Serpent Demons to death in the process.
Xiao Buli jumped onto the head of the python with agility, his sword raised high, looking as majestic as a Heavenly God descending to the mortal realm.
Xiao Buli was about to summon Divine Thunder when he noticed something strange from his vantage point on the python's head. The python, with half its body raised, stood at a height of several meters, giving Xiao Buli a commanding view. Overlooking from this advantage, he could clearly see the arrangement of Serpent Demons below. Aside from the flesh of those that had died, the arrangement of the living Serpent Demons was odd. While most battled in front of him, there was still a significant number of Serpent Demons gathered behind, with the densest cluster around a large pit. From his position, it seemed as if two encirclements had formed below.
If the encirclement around him was for the purpose of battle, then the one behind made little sense. A thought crossed Xiao Buli's mind: perhaps these Serpent Demons were guarding something. There might be treasure inside that big pit! Though the narrative seemed long, it only took a few seconds for him to think.
Xiao Buli was already poised with the Glowing Light Sword raised high, ready to call down thunder. These few seconds of delay did not hinder his actions. His mind made a quick turn, and he developed a plan.
