Chapter 21: No Hesitation

The winds howled through the desolate land, their cries carrying the promise of an impending storm. Zhang Yong stood atop a mountain, his eyes locked onto the horizon. The legacy of Earth—his birthright—was under threat again. There was no hesitation in his heart; his goal was clear. He would not let these invaders take what was his, even if it meant annihilating everyone in his path.

His thoughts briefly returned to the system. The rewards for killing these invaders, the power he gained from helping his wives and disciples grow stronger, it all fed into the vast, unending abyss of his ambition. But today, something felt different. The presence of a true adversary loomed ahead.

The demon's arrival was unmistakable. Its aura was foul, thick with the stench of blood and chaos. A being born from the darkest pits of the Abyssal World, towering and wreathed in shadows. Its eyes burned with a golden flame, reflecting the insatiable hunger for power that many before it had shown.

"You are Zhang Yong," the demon's voice echoed through the stillness. "The last pure human, guarding this pathetic world. I am here to claim your legacy."

Zhang Yong's lips curled into a sinister smile. "You think you can take what's mine?" His voice was a low growl, a promise of utter devastation.

The demon raised its hand, conjuring a torrent of dark energy that crackled with destructive force. Lightning and fire erupted from its fingertips, streaking across the sky. It was a force that could level mountains, an attack filled with malevolent power.

Zhang Yong's reaction was instantaneous. With a mere flick of his wrist, he unleashed a wave of energy so intense that it shattered the demon's attack mid-air. The shockwave sent a ripple through the land, causing the earth to tremble beneath them. The demon staggered back, its eyes wide with disbelief. How could a human have this much power?

But Zhang Yong's power was not bound by the rules of the mortal world. He had transcended it.

"You're not worthy of even standing before me," Zhang Yong said coldly, his eyes glowing with an intensity that mirrored the very flames of hell.

With a single step, he appeared in front of the demon, too fast for the creature to react. His hand shot out like a spear, grabbing the demon by the throat. The immense pressure he applied caused cracks to form in the demon's skin, revealing the dark, rotting essence within. The demon's scream was cut short as Zhang Yong's fingers tightened, crushing its neck with a sickening crunch.

"You came to take what's mine, but instead, you will be an example," Zhang Yong whispered in its ear. His power surged, and the demon's body began to dissolve, consumed by the sheer force of his cultivation. The energy radiating from Zhang Yong's body was so potent that it left nothing behind but the faintest remnants of the demon's former existence.

As the last vestiges of the demon's body disintegrated, Zhang Yong wiped his hand clean of the blood that had stained it. The battle had been brief, but brutal. His heart beat calmly in his chest, unaffected by the carnage he had just unleashed.

"Anyone else?" he asked the empty air, his voice carrying a deep, terrifying promise.

The silence that followed was deafening. The land seemed to recoil from his power, as if nature itself feared what he had become.

But Zhang Yong's thoughts were already on the next challenge. As the system continued to reward him with power for every kill, he knew that his cultivation was far from complete. Each victory was merely another stepping stone on the path to ultimate dominance. And soon, no one—human, demon, or god—would be able to challenge him.
