Chapter 223: A perfect king
After ten minutes of unbearable pain, Dared finally opened his eyes.
Boom!
A terrifying aura erupted from his body.
Middle-level Planetary Realm...
Dared stood up, his gaze falling on the half-floating orb. His body trembled in fear.
Of course, he wanted the orb—but the agony he'd just endured had told him something vital:
This body couldn't fully handle the terrifying conversion of soul to energy.
Souls were who we truly were—our thoughts, strength, memories, desires. A being's soul held 100% of their essence. That's why the soul was sacred.
"But if I can't devour souls... then what should I devour?" Dared wondered, shocked.
His eyes drifted toward the beast corpses.
"...Hey, maybe they won't taste as bad as—"
Crunch.
Azerak's mouth hung open as he watched Dared devour the beast's body with relish, leaving the half-eaten soul behind.
With a thought, the remaining soul dispersed—yet Dared didn't care.
"It seems the core nature of this race is to devour souls... but Dared's bloodline is too thin. He can't fully consume them. Hahaha... interesting," Azerak muttered.
"So most—if not all—of them will resort to devouring flesh and blood instead. I wonder how the royals will react, especially since Caius would do the same. But they won't complain... not for such a small sacrifice."
He watched Dared finish devouring the beast, his eyes gleaming with hunger.
Then, Dared crouched low like a beast—his body morphing into its alternate form.
Scales crawled across his skin as he sniffed the air and charged in a specific direction.
His speed surged—a hundred times faster, effortlessly breaching light speed.
Boom.
This realm would soon become unstable...
Because of Dared.
"Seems more beast than man," Azerak mused with a smile, studying him.

In the fourth layer of space...
Void grinned as he stared at a specific point in space.
"Hey, want to see me in action? Wanna watch me do something?" he asked with a grin.
"Nah… not now," he chuckled—and then flipped the middle finger with a laugh.
********
At the Military Headquarters...
Spray—
Blood splattered as the Marshal collapsed into his seat, wounded.
He had blocked an attack from one of the Dreadborne generals, right after those arrogant aristocrats tried to seize control.
The Marshal smiled bitterly.
"Fools... but I can't do anything. They'll probably cause trouble for the royal family—not just because their geniuses died, but out of pure envy."
His body slowly began to regenerate.
They were strong.
The Dreadborne organization... was too strong.
********
And the Marshal was right.
Because the Royal Courtroom was now in shambles.
Caius awoke to deafening chaos.
Boom. Bang!
Voices roared—violent arguments between beings of terrifying presence.
Just standing near them, Caius felt like a single attack could decide his life or death.
The pressure of the entire universe was pressing on him.
Yeah… these were Universal Realm beings.
Knock knock.
Caius turned to the door.
"Come in," he said.
A familiar woman stepped in.
It was Mai, the female Galaxy Warrior.
"What is it?" he asked.
She dropped to one knee.
"The Royal Court is in heavy dispute. You've been summoned by the Crown Prince."
Caius paused for a moment.
"…Alright. Give me a second to prepare," he said.
"Yes, my lord," Mai replied and exited.
"It's probably those aristocrats from yesterday," Caius muttered as he got dressed.
Moments later, the door opened. Caius stepped out in a casual outfit.
"Lead the way," he instructed.
Mai nodded, walking ahead.
Of course, her figure didn't escape his notice. Caius smiled slightly, admiring it for a moment before his mind returned to the situation.
What would the aristocrats demand?
Soon, they arrived at a familiar massive door. Two guards bowed and opened it.
Caius entered.
Chaos.
Middle-aged men and women argued fiercely. Beards trembled. Fingers pointed in rage.
On higher seats sat Theron and his siblings, calmly observing.
"Clearly, they could've stopped it," caius thought, frowning.
Then his gaze met Theron'.
A faint smile appeared on Theron's face.
"Enough," he said.
The room went quiet, though the nobles still glared at each other like they were ready to fight.
"You're here, Caius. Come resolve the situation you caused," Theron said with a smile.
Caius returned a calm one.
"What's the issue?"
"Oh, just this—they want answers for the deaths of their so-called geniuses," Theron replied with a grin.
"I already gave them an answer at the military base. What more do they want?" Caius asked coldly.
The aristocrats flinched. They couldn't respond.
Everyone knew what happened yesterday.
Now he was qualified to fight for the throne.
Would they really dare question a potential king?
Not to mention—his body's potential could rival the Crown Prince and Fourth Prince.
They were silent now.
They had become pawns in Theron's political game, attacking the Eldest Prince.
Could they really question the royal family?
Their faces turned pale with realization.
"As I said, it's been settled. Their lives or deaths don't concern anyone," Caius said coldly.
"If they died while growing stronger—would you be angry and kill those who bested them? Isn't that foolish? Every one of you risked your lives to become what you are today."
His words shook them.
"If they couldn't survive such a challenge, then their potential was meaningless. I don't want to hear about this again," Caius ended.
The remaining officials and nobles all smiled slightly.
This was the aura of a true leader.
Look how he seized control of the room.
Theron's frown deepened.
"Alright. Since that's resolved, return to your duties. The Federation will compensate you," Theron said.
The nobles left, smiles creeping onto their faces.
They'd at least gain resources. One goal accomplished.
"This duo is dangerous…" many of the officials thought.
"One commands the room with calm strength… the other draws loyalty with firm control. If both traits existed in one man—he would be the perfect king."
