Accidentally Becoming a Great Prophet?!

Chapter 6 - Scary Customers

It had been several months since I became an amateur fortune teller.
Surprisingly, during that time, all the fortunes I told came true. I don’t know if it’s just incredibly good luck or if I actually have some kind of precognitive ability, but after experiencing these strange days, a really large sum of money had accumulated, regardless of the burden I felt.
‘This has accumulated to over 100 million won…’
This happened even after I requested that they stop increasing the number of customers, and after I told them to come moderately, using the made-up excuse that doing too many readings would bring bad luck.
‘Even though I’m using cards from some card game, why do they like it so much…!’
Although I gave fortunes diligently, I tried my best to reduce the number of customers.
After all, there’s nothing good that could come from an ordinary person like me associating with such capable superhumans.
I even used strange cards and treated them a bit rudely.
Still, nothing changed. No, they even liked it!
Does that make sense?! Why do they like it?!
In the end, the result of reducing customers came from my direct words. If it weren’t for that, wouldn’t there be a line stretching out of this small house by now…
‘Sigh… Is it really okay for me to continue this lifestyle?’
I was afraid of the consequences if I just said I wouldn’t do readings anymore and ran away. If they’re such high-level superhumans, they’d have many ways to deal with me…!
And if I keep attracting the attention of such high-ranking superhumans, there’s a possibility of catching the eye of a not-so-good superhuman.
After all, not all awakened superhumans live righteous lives in the light.

‘Ah… But surely nothing like that will happen…?’
It seemed unlikely since I had fended off more customers from gathering, but… even just imagining such things was a huge burden for an ordinary citizen like me!
“Sigh… Money is the root of all evil…”
Whenever I had these thoughts, the only consolation was the pile of money.
At least because of the money, I’m living this life…
Sometimes, thanks to this money, I even think about living proudly as an amateur fortune teller. After all, I’m unemployed anyway, right?
It seems like I could continue this life making a lot of money as long as my mental state holds up, even without learning something like tarot cards.
“Ah… I don’t know anymore, damn it…”
Today too, after seriously worrying without coming up with a proper solution, I gave up and started packing the rest of my luggage.
Ah, of course, I’m not packing to run away in the middle of the night. I’m not that kind of person…
Anyway, the reason I’m packing is because I’m planning to go out with my friends today.
To be precise, it’s a vacation cum trip! I’m planning to play for about 3 nights and 4 days.
“Heh, guys. It’s been a while since we’ve met!”
The guys I’m meeting this time are all close friends I’ve known since childhood. We were even in the same class throughout elementary, middle, and high school. We’ve scattered since then, but we still maintain good relationships.
I’m not planning to go out and play wildly somewhere, just a light trip to relax at a nice hotel.
Hmm, I guess they call this a ‘hotel-cation’ these days? Well, I’m not sure about that…
I’m planning to properly heal my mental state that’s been frayed from acting as an amateur fortune teller and associating with high-ranking superhumans.
“Hehe… Let’s see, I’ll pack some playing cards for games like Old Maid…”
After packing lightly, I left the house in a good mood.
“Alright! Let’s go on a trip!”
Since we agreed to meet in front of a station and then move by my friend’s car, I left the house with my bag on my back and moved to catch a bus…
Meanwhile, a superhuman passed by him.
Thump thump thump!
“Excuse me… Sir, are you here?”
Unfortunately, she arrived after Dam Han-ul had left home…
“Huh? This should be the right place… Is he not here?!”
…Sadly, she didn’t encounter Dam Han-ul.
“…He’s really not here… Where did he go…?”
After slightly raising her power to scan the inside of the house and confirming that the fortune teller she was looking for wasn’t inside, she wore a gloomy expression.
“Sigh… I finally made some time…”
Her identity was Cheong So-ha, the ‘Blue Jade’, an S-rank superhuman who is the head of Cheongson Guild, one of Korea’s top 10 guilds and one of Korea’s strongest superhumans.
As an S-rank superhuman who stood at the pinnacle of the superhuman world except for a very few monsters, she had barely managed to squeeze out some time from her busy schedule to visit urgently… but unfortunately, her timing was off and she came up empty-handed.
For Cheong So-ha, who had been worrying about a rather important issue, this wasn’t good news at all… but what could she do? There was no fortune teller to read her fortune.
“…I guess there’s no choice. I’ll have to come again next time…”
Slightly regretting that she should have called in advance even though she had gotten the phone number, Cheong So-ha left Dam Han-ul’s house, sighing deeply and thinking that next time she would definitely make a reservation before visiting.
And while Cheong So-ha was doing this, someone else spotted Dam Han-ul waiting for the bus at the bus stop.
“Found him.”
Kukukuku-
The being who smiled, baring all its fierce teeth, quietly approached behind the unsuspecting Dam Han-ul and grabbed his shoulder,
…and in an instant, Dam Han-ul and she vanished without a trace.
“…Huh? Wasn’t someone standing here?”
And despite two people suddenly disappearing, no one noticed.
“Hmm… Did I see wrong?”
The amateur fortune teller Dam Han-ul had been kidnapped!

Where on earth is this, and what kind of situation is this?
“Huh?”
I was just normally waiting for the bus at the bus stop, but when I blinked once, I suddenly arrived in a strange room I had never seen before.
“What is this…?”
“Hey! Don’t space out and come sit over here!”
While I was looking around in confusion, a husky voice was heard from behind me.
When I turned my head to see what it was, a very fierce and scary-looking beauty was looking at me with a grin, showing her sharp teeth.
Looking closely, she even had ears and a tail like those of a dog or wolf. She didn’t look like an ordinary person at all.
“W-who are you?! No, more than that, what is this…!?”
“Oh, you listen surprisingly well?”
Although I was asking questions, I felt quite scared of the woman in front of me, so my body automatically sat down on the chair in front of her.
“Kukukuku… Good boy? Yeah, good boys should be rewarded! You’re asking what this situation is?”
She laughed as if amused and then answered.
“It’s simple! They say you’re so good at fortune telling? I brought you here because I’m curious about that!”
‘Wait, so does that mean I’ve been… kidnapped?!’
Inwardly, I was incredibly dumbfounded, but… well, they say if you keep your wits about you, you can survive even if caught by a tiger. Maybe because I’ve faced many superhumans by now, my guts have grown a bit, so I was somehow able to gather my thoughts.
“Uh… So, do you want me to… read your fortune?”
“Yeah, yeah! Give it a try! But you’re strangely calm even when facing me? Is this what they mean when they say skilled fortune tellers are different?”
“Uh… Who… are you? Are you someone famous…?”
“Huh? You don’t know me?”
In fact, it was understandable that I didn’t know.
She was a big shot in the underworld not well-known to ordinary people, and Dam Han-ul was just an ordinary civilian, just a regular person.
“No way, such a skilled fortune teller doesn’t know me, ‘Bargr’ Scolia ‘Fenrir’ Hatieri?? Aren’t you an awakened superhuman too??”
“Uh… I am a fortune teller, but I’m not a superhuman…”
“Kuhat! Really? Then this story gets even more interesting! You’re saying you can read fortunes that well without even awakening?! Kuhahaha!”

Hatieri, who laughed heartily for some reason, slammed the desk and looked at me.
“Good! This makes me even more interested! Then let’s have you read a fortune right away! Let’s see… First, let’s start with a light goal of how to escape this room?”
‘…Damn it. What kind of ridiculous situation is this again!!’
To think I’d encounter such a bizarre situation on the way to a trip to recover my mental health!!
But I couldn’t just complain in this situation. That woman in front of me, Hatieri, looked incredibly strong even though I had never heard of her.
So for now… I have to do as she says…
I first took out the playing cards I had brought in my bag. These are the only cards I have right now.
“Oho? Playing cards? As expected, even the cards used by a famous person are different! Kyakya!”
Regardless of Hatieri’s laughter… I shuffled the cards while concentrating as much as possible, then put down the deck and drew three cards.
The first card was the King of Diamonds…
The meaning is… there is a way to escape, so steel your mind…
After looking at the card and swallowing hard, I flipped the next card.
The second card was the Ten of Clubs.
“Knock on the wall… three times each, ten times…”
“Ho…”
I could feel Hatieri’s eyes narrowing.
However, I didn’t notice and flipped the last third card.
The last third card was… the Ace of Spades.
The meaning is…
“Strongly pierce… the center of the wall you knocked on…”
“Kuhahahaha!!!”
When I answered like that, Hatieri laughed heartily again.
“W-was it correct…?”
“What an amazing fortune teller!! You really have incredible skills, Teacher! To think you’d actually get the answer right by reading fortunes with playing cards! Truly amazing!!”
Hatieri seemed to be genuinely impressed that my fortune was correct, laughing and even clapping.
Even her way of addressing me suddenly changed to ‘Teacher’.
“Good, good… Now that I’ve seen your skills, there’s no reason to wait any longer! Let’s move on to the next!”
Hatieri stretched her body and brought her face close to mine as she spoke.
“This time, read my fortune, Teacher? If your fortune is correct, I’ll give you a reward! If not… kukuku, that would be interesting too?”
To that, I averted my gaze uncomfortably and answered.
“Ahem, I understand, but… your face…”
“Oh, right. If that’s what the Teacher wants, I should comply.”
Hatieri smiled and pulled her body back to sit in her seat, and I inwardly sighed and shuffled the cards again.
Then I held them out in front of Hatieri.
“Now, please draw two cards.”
“What? Teacher, you drew three cards but I only get two? Is this discrimination?”
“…Well…”
“Kyakya! It’s a joke, a joke!”
Hatieri, who made a joke that wasn’t funny at all and made me feel like my liver was about to fall out, drew two cards and held them out to me.
“Here! Do as you please, Teacher!”
“…If you’ve drawn them, please flip over whichever card you want.”
“Ah right, I’ll do that!”
At my words, Hatieri flipped over one card.
And what was drawn on the card that appeared was…
“…The Joker.”
And the meaning contained in it is…
“…There is a traitor…?”
“What…?”
Hatieri’s face, which had been laughing heartily, instantly hardened into a frighteningly fierce expression.
