Ace of the Diamond: Reborn with an Ace System

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Crossing Over

"You idiot!"

I snapped my eyes open from the scream that was right in front of my face.

What greeted me was an angry, chubby man with glasses and a receding hairline that looked like the letter m.

Tears were streaming down his face.

'Huh? What's going on? Didn't I die? Who's this guy?'

"Do you even know what you did to yourself, Sawamura?" The man continued to scream in my face.

'Huh? Sawamura? Why's this guy calling me Sawamura?' I thought, looking at him with confusion.

I looked around and was surprised to find myself in a completely unknown place.

It looked like a teacher's office in a school.

Multiple desks filled up the place.

"The other team's coach and families came roaring to you. The players glared at you with hatred AND you slapped them and the umpire twelve times!"

'Oh? Doesn't that sound familiar? I'm getting Deja vu. What's going on though?'

"Hold on. I'm not-" I started to say in defence as he obviously had the wrong guy.

But then in a second, a life time of memories that weren't mine flooded my head all at once. I winced from the pain.

Once the memories started to become clear, I gasped. 'No way. This can't be real!'

The memories that came to me were none other than the memories of Sawamura Eijun, the MC from 'Ace of the Diamond'.

His whole life from childhood all the way until this moment came to me at once.

I finally understood what this situation was.

It was after Sawamura's last baseball game, where the opposition thrashed his team and proceeded to jeer and disrespect them afterwards.

Which then caused Sawamura to slap all his opponents and then the umpire who tried to stop him.

I laughed so much when I first read that in the manga.

Whilst this was happening, the man who I now recognise as the middle school team's baseball coach, was still ranting in front of me.

"Are you really okay finishing your three years of middle school baseball with a record like that?"

He was now panting heavily with his hand on his forehead.

'My god' I thought to myself.

'For such a big guy, he really can belt his voice. I can tell he cares for Sawamura though. He's only worried about high schools not wanting him after what he did.'

I smiled slightly when I looked at the guy in front of me.

Then I slightly shuck my head.

'Hold on. First of all, I need to figure out what's going on. Is this a dream after death? Or did I really transmigrate into Sawamura? I need to get out of this situation quick.'

"I understand your anger, Coach." I said to him after he recovered a little. He turned his heads me.

"I feel ashamed of myself for my behaviour. I shouldn't have reacted like that after the game. But they were disrespecting our team even after winning and I couldn't hold back my anger in the moment. I'm sorry coach."

I slightly bowed from my crouched position as I said this with a calm expression.

Only silence followed.

'Huh? Was that not enough? I thought what I said was quite mature.'

I slightly tilted my head up to look at the coach in front of me.

All that met with was a face full of confusion and surprise.

His mouth was wide open as well as his eyes. He was completely unmoving.

'He looks like a human statue.' I thought in amusement. 'Why does he look so surprised though?'

He slightly gulped and then slowly took a step towards me.

"Are you okay Sawamura?" He said with genuine worry.

"Huh?" Was all I could respond.

He looked at me with confusion. "I- I mean it's good that you know what you did wrong." He said to me with a sigh.

'Why is he like this now?'

Then it hit me, I was Sawamura right now.

That was not the response he would've gone for.

He wouldn't have even acknowledged the slaps as a fault.

'Oh shit I messed up. Oh well. Let's just say this was an event that matured Sawamura a little.'

The coach turned and sat in his chair with another sigh.

"After all the work you put in as the team captain… it's hard for me to say this, but some high schools might not want you know." He said with his eyes closed.

'Ok, I really need to get out of here and figure out what happened.' I thought.

"Don't worry Coach, I'll be fine." I said to him. He turned to me.

"All I need is a ball and bat to play baseball. No matter where I go, I will play baseball. So, I'll be fine Coach." I said to him with a wide grin.

He again looked at me with slight confusion.

As if he was looking at a different person from the usual Sawamura he knew.

'Did he mature a bit after this incident?' He thought. 'This may be good thing for him despite the circumstances.'

"Sawamura-kun." A voice called out to me and me and coached both looked towards the voice.

An old man with thick eyebrows and a bushy moustache was standing there in a brown suit and red tie.

'Ah. That's the principal, isn't it?' I thought.

"Principal?" The coach said standing up.

'Yep. I was right.'

The principal looked at me and spoke. "If you like baseball, you must learn to follow the rules. Violence is never the answer, even if it's for you your teammates."

I slightly bowed my head to him.

"I will take your words to heart Principal. I'm again sorry for the trouble I caused you and the school. I will reflect on my actions greatly."

He looked at me with slight pleasure and acknowledgment, knowing I had taken the advice sincerely.

"Good lad. You may go back to your class now." He said.

I stood up and bowed to both of them.

"Thank you, Coach, Principal. I won't let you down. Please watch me in the future. I will come back stronger in high school. I will make you proud."

I turned and started walking towards the door and walked through. I started walking down the hallway of the school.

'If this is real. And I think it is real.' I thought to myself whilst feeling the pain of the pinch I was giving myself.

'Then I will take this opportunity to live without regrets. I life where I can dedicate myself to baseball and nothing else. No worries. No trauma. I will push past it all. I will go to Seido. I will become the Ace.'
