Adam in the Real World and Harry Potter?(OC/HP/Showbiz/Hollywood)

Chapter 5: Chapter 4:

Chapter 4:

.....

The clock read 6:30 AM, and Adam's eyes snapped open.

For a few seconds, he was completely disoriented: was he in his bed in New Jersey, or still in Draco Malfoy's luxurious bedroom?

He ran his hand over the hard mattress, covered with simple sheets, and exhaled in relief.

"Yup. Back home"

No green tapestries, golden furniture, or silver decorations.

Although he had to admit, for a moment, he missed the warmth of the magical world.

Well, It always happened… but he quickly shook his head. He shouldn't get too attached to that place just because it was magical... literally.

Sure, his life as Adam wasn't as incredible as his daily life as Draco in a world full of wizards, magical creatures… and, well, just magic.

But hey, it wasn't soooo bad.

He had his family, who were far better than Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, even though he was starting to feel a bit fond of Narcissa. She showered him with affection and spoiled him endlessly.

If it weren't for some of her terrible personality traits, he might have found himself completely charmed by her maternal love.

Adam jumped out of bed energetically and ran to the bathroom to get ready.

As he brushed his teeth, he stared at his reflection in the mirror: his brown hair was messy, his dark eyes still looked a little sleepy, but the important part was still there.

He was Adam.

Even though he was getting more and more accustomed to his life as Draco and that identity each day, he knew he would never truly be the blonde, arrogant boy that Draco Malfoy once was.

"You have two lives, Adam" he told himself quietly, spitting out the toothpaste into the sink. "Two lives… and a lot to do"

.....

.....

Since January 2nd, everything had changed, and Adam had adapted surprisingly well to his double life.

By day, he was Adam Johnson, the youngest of seven siblings, living a seemingly normal life. That same day, but in another world, at exactly 12:00 AM, the system transported him to the magical world, where he lived as Draco Malfoy, heir to a pure and powerful family, until the clock struck 12:00 AM again and brought him back to his non-magical life as if no time had passed at all.

At first, the routine had been exhausting. Spending the day at school, practicing sports like basketball and tennis, and then being transported automatically to the magical world to live a full day there was draining.

But little by little, he had learned to manage it.

Oh and most of the adjustment came from learning to sleep while in the magical world.

Yeah... Well, In the first few days, his excitement kept him awake whenever he traveled there, and he forgot that he hadn't slept.

So, as a result, he only got rest once he returned to his world.

Naturally, after a few days of doing this... even with his enthusiasm... he couldn't keep up. So, yes, his exhaustion was entirely his fault and the result of his own lack of awareness.

During his days in the magical world, Adam marveled at everything he saw: books that taught him thousands of things about all kind of magic, which seemed like they came straight out of the most fantastical fiction imaginable; lessons on history and other basics he was expected to know as a noble, taught by magical tutors; and the freedom to see and even use magical objects... to do things that in his real world only existed in movies or the wildest dreams of people.

He had even flown on a broomstick! YeY!

That had been incredible.

His father would surely die of excitement at the thought of flying one. Adam knew how much his father loved flying... he'd started as a paragliding enthusiast before becoming a private pilot.

Adam had to admit that he had inherited his father's love of flying, though this was probably a thousand times better than paragliding or flying a plane.

Yep, Adam was thoroughly satisfied with all the new and amazing things he could do in the magical world.

But being Draco Malfoy also had its downsides.

Adam despised the long conversations with Lucius Malfoy, who often talked about "preserving blood purity" with an air of superiority that Adam found unbearable.

Oh and he also hated having to feign interest whenever any spoiled child, of Lucius's business partners or potential ones, visited Malfoy Manor. They were insufferable, always laughing at things that weren't remotely funny or just the nonsense speaking.

Thean, also the etiquette, Latin, and French lessons weren't fun either... they were actually quite tedious... but he was forced to take them daily.

Despite it all, he had learned to manage. His Perfect Acting skill allowed him to behave like the arrogant, conceited Draco that everyone expected, even though he hated it, while keeping his true thoughts hidden thanks to his Natural Occlumen ability.

Yup, Adam had become a genius at maintaining a delicate balance, though he was slowly trying to change certain aspects of Draco's behavior without being too obvious.

But it was quite difficult.

...

By mid-January, Adam first heard about the casting for the movie Bogus.

He was just walking home after basketball practice when a group of kids leaving a building Adam recognized as the local children's theater school were chatting excitedly about a movie that was looking for a child actor to play an important role.

"You have to know a little French," said one of the kids in a self-important tone, as if that automatically excluded him from the competition.

Adam froze in his tracks.

French?

Thanks to Draco's memories, he actually knew some basic French, and the idea of testing his acting skills in the real world seemed irresistible.

Oh yes, yhe possibility of becoming famous made his stomach churn with excitement.

That night, after dinner, Adam mentioned the idea to his mother.

She, accustomed to her youngest son's whimsical ideas, raised an eyebrow and asked:

"Are you sure you want to do this? It's a long process, and they might reject you"

Adam nodded firmly.

"I want to try! Besides, it'll be fun"

"Well, as long as you don't neglect your schoolwork, I don't see why not," his mother sighed, giving him permission with a wave of her hand.

Adam beamed from ear to ear and ran to his room, thrilled about the opportunity.

That same night, in the magical world, he practiced a few expressions in front of a mirror while pretending to be Draco Malfoy apologizing for something (something Draco would never do, but it was funny to imagine).

Then watching how his Perfect Acting skill worked in the mirror, Adam had to admit it was truly incredible how he could flawlessly portray whatever he set his mind to with just a thought.

It was an admirable and extremely useful skill.

...

.....

Luckily for Adam, the auditions for the movie Bogus were here in New Jersey, not in Canada. Otherwise, he doubted his mother would have agreed to take him all the way there just to do a script reading... especially since he had never acted or shown any interest in doing so before.

"Ready, sweetheart?" his mother asked from the driver's seat as she parked the car.

Adam was annoyed with himself. A few minutes ago, he had felt perfectly fine at home, but as they got closer to the location, he found himself growing more anxious about the impending audition.

"Yes… Though I guess I'm a little nervous," he admitted, running a hand nervously through his hair and adjusting his clothes for the umpteenth time.

"Well, it's your first audition. How could you not be? But you'll do great," his mother dismissed his worries. "Just be yourself and remember to have fun... that's the only thing that matters."

"Right. Thanks, Mom" She was right. He was here just to test his ability and shouldn't stress too much since the bulk of the work would be handled by his Perfect Acting skill.

Whether or not he got the part was a bonus... yeah, a bonus he would love, but still just a bonus. Yup.

"Whenever you're ready, honey," she said, turning to fix his hair. "And stop messing it up!"

"Come on now, we need to get to the location, or they'll reject you before the audition even starts" She got out of the car and motioned for him to follow.

Adam nodded, finally stepped out of the car, and obediently followed his mother into the building after confirming their appointment at the reception desk.

The audition was being held in a building in downtown New Jersey. Adam arrived with his mother, dressed in simple but clean clothes.

Upon entering and checking in, the kind elderly receptionist directed them to the waiting room.

Following the instructions, they entered the room, and the first thing Adam noticed was how crowded it was with children and their parents.

He counted at least 30 other kids sitting in the room with a guardian or agent. And today was already the fourth day of auditions, so it was possible that hundreds of people had already auditioned before him.

Some kids looked extremely nervous, fidgeting with their hands or murmuring lines from the script. Others were overly calm and confident, speaking loudly and proudly about the acting classes they had taken or the institutes they had attended.

All of them seemed to be around his age, as the maximum age for the casting was 9 years old, which Adam had just turned. There were also several younger kids, around 7 or 8 years old.

Adam hadn't taken any acting classes or attended any institutes, but with Perfect Acting, he knew he could shine.

Even though he felt somewhat confident thanks to his ability, he had already started practicing the small portions of the script they had given him upon arrival, known as "sides." These were selected scenes related to the character being auditioned for. Naturally, the scenes were out of context to avoid revealing too much about the plot. However, they did provide hints about the character's tone, approximate age, and other relevant personality traits.

All he knew beforehand was the production's name, the genre, and a very brief description of the role he was auditioning for.

"James Brown!" a man in his 30s called out. A boy stood up, raising his hand, while an older woman... probably his mother... accompanied him into the audition room.

It took less than five minutes for his audition to finish before another boy sitting outside was called.

Meanwhile, Adam thought about the character he was auditioning for: Albert Franklin, a boy between 7 and 9 years old who finds himself in a difficult situation after his mother's death. He's supposed to be a sensitive, emotional child who feels lonely and misses his mother. He also has a vivid and creative imagination.

The movie was described as lighthearted and fun, with moments of humor and emotion, meaning the actor had to handle the film's shifts in tone... light and funny one moment, emotional and intense the next.

"Michael Cera!" another name was called, and a boy entered the audition room.

This audition lasted a bit longer.... just over five minutes, one of the few that did.

Afterward, five more kids went in for their auditions before they finally called Adam White's name.

Yes, after waiting nearly two hours, it was finally his turn.

Sylvia, Adam's mother, hurried him to stand up and head toward the door where the casting team was waiting.

...

The audition room was a large space with white walls and an improvised stage at the back. Five judges, including the film's director, sat behind a long table with open notebooks.

Adam didn't recognize anyone since he didn't know much about the entertainment industry. He barely knew a few actors, and even then, only by face... if someone asked him their names, he probably wouldn't know.

The five individuals were men, three of middle age and two who looked to be in their 60s or 70s. Adam noticed they seemed tired, as if they had already seen hundreds of kids.

'Perfect. I'll be the surprise they need'

Adam gave them a small smile.

"Hello, I'm Adam White, and I'm 9 years old. I'm here to audition for the role of Albert Franklin," he said, his voice clear and his posture relaxed.

"Hello, Adam," one of the older men greeted him with a smile, glancing briefly at his mother, who sat in a chair behind him. "Tell me, what can you do?"

"Well, I'd like to think I can act pretty well. I also know how to swim, play basketball, and tennis... though I'm not particularly great at the last three. That's why I'm planning to focus on acting now," he said, emphasizing his acting ability over everything else.

Yup, He thought it was important to highlight this if he wanted the role.

Though it seemed his attempt was a bit too obvious, as all five men chuckled lightly… even his "traitorous" mother let out a giggle from behind him.

"Oh, I see you're very confident... that's good," one of the older men complimented him with a smile that reminded Adam of his grandmother's when he used to complain about being ignored.

"Tell me, if you're selected, would you be willing to film here as well as in Canada for two months? We would, of course, provide tutors for your education," said another elderly man, though his gaze was clearly directed at Adam's mother rather than Adam himself.

"No problem at all," she replied for him, and Adam was grateful she wasn't one of those overprotective mothers... though he always complained about how little attention she paid him.

The group of five men seemed satisfied with the answer. They then handed Adam a pair of sheets similar to the ones he had been given at reception.

"Why don't you read a few lines for us, Adam?"

Adam took the papers and, before starting, looked at the five men.

"Uh… could you tell me about Franklin's temperament in this scene, along with some background on the plot?" he asked, a bit unsure, but it was necessary to understand his character in order to use Perfect Acting effectively. He already had a general idea of the character, but the more information he had, the better he could perform.

The five men seemed momentarily surprised, apparently not expecting the question.

But one of them quickly cleared his throat and recomposed himself before giving Adam the information he had requested.

Satisfied, Adam read through the lines carefully for a few more moments.

"All right, I'm ready."
