Raymond stared at the screen, his magic power having only increased by 0.3. He felt a tinge of frustration.

Initially, he didn't think his Magic Affinity mattered much. Every time he awakened a new profession, his magic value would increase by a solid 100 points. But now, with all the professions except for Priest unlocked, Raymond realized he had no other way to rapidly increase his magic power.

While his current magic value, over 1,000 points, was certainly high, it was all relative. Even for the slowest-growing Awakeners with a Magic Affinity of 0.5, it would only take six years to max out their magic value at 1,000 points.

The higher a person's Magic Affinity, the faster their magic value increases. For example, Sylph had a Magic Affinity of 2.6, which gave her a magic value limit of 3,100 points. Starting with 100 magic points, the remaining 3,000 points would naturally grow at a rate of 2.6 points per day. This meant it would take her just over 1,150 days (roughly three years) to reach the limit.

By contrast, someone with a Magic Affinity of 0.5 would take almost six years to reach the same magic value.

Arya's Magic Affinity was even higher at 4.2, which meant she would hit her magic value cap much sooner, around 1,090 days (just under three years). However, her magic value limit was far greater than Sylph's, reaching 4,700 points.

So, while Raymond's magic power of 1,150 points seemed impressive, almost 700 points higher than Sylph and the others, it was only a matter of time before they surpassed him, as his growth rate would slow down. And at the rate things were going, without a way to quickly boost his magic, he could easily be overtaken within a year.

The only way for Raymond to increase his magic power quickly would be to awaken a new profession but, having already unlocked ten professions (including Fighter, Magician, Craftsman, and others), there was nothing left for him to awaken except Priest. But he didn't dare to do that yet.

As for gaining magic points by killing monsters? That was hardly a viable option for him at this stage.

At first, it was possible to increase magic points by killing monsters, but as Raymond continued, the increase became less and less significant. After a certain point, the magic points gained and the 'skill accumulation value' would be halved, over and over, every time he killed more monsters. It kept diminishing.

For example, Raymond's current magic points stood at 1,151.5. After being an adventurer for over two months, how much had he gained from killing monsters?

To break it down:

• 1,000 magic points were spent awakening the ten professions (Fighter, Warrior, Craftsman, Magician, Swordsman, Hunter, Pharmacist, Archer, Thief, and Assassin).

• Then, subtracting two months' worth of magic point growth, which was 0.3 points per day (totalling 18 points over two months), this left him with 133 points gained from monster kills.

In over two months, that's all the magic points he had earned by killing monsters, 133 points. While it might sound like a lot at first, most of these points were earned early on, when he killed a smaller number of monsters. As he progressed, the rate of increase slowed significantly.

Unless he sought out new, un-killed monsters, there was no easy way to speed things up. But the further Raymond went, the tougher the monsters became, and their groups grew smaller. The stronger the monsters, the fewer there were, and many species were rare.

Alternatively, Raymond could leave his team behind, focus entirely on himself, and seek out weaker monsters to kill. The weaker monsters tended to be more abundant and varied. However, even though there were more of these monsters, their numbers were still limited compared to stronger ones.

The "Temple Library" recorded information on monster types:

• Around 300 White Porcelain Level monsters.

• More than 200 Black Iron Level monsters.

• Over 100 Bronze Level monsters.

• 100+ Silver Level monsters.

• About 50-60 Gold Level monsters.

• Only 30-40 Platinum Level monsters.

These were the known monsters, there could be unrecorded types, but they would certainly be rare. While it seemed like Raymond could quickly increase his magic power by hunting these monsters, there were challenges. He would either need to ignore his team Arya, Sylph, Lorene and focus solely on monster hunting, or take on commissions as usual. Either way, focusing on finding new monsters would interfere with his current mission.

But even with the variety of monsters around, most types were found in areas outside Wittes Town, around the borders of Somar City and other frontier cities. Somar, the largest city in the south of Atlantis, had monster types from all across the kingdom and its borders.

So, Raymond's idea of hunting weaker monsters to quickly boost his magic points was becoming increasingly unrealistic.

As he thought about his Magic Affinity of 0.3, Raymond felt a growing headache. The increase in magic value seemed much slower than before.

Gaining more than 100 points a year wasn't ideal, but it was better than nothing. In fact, his rapid growth in magic during the first couple of months had set an expectation that couldn't be met. Now, the reality was that his magic value might only increase by a few hundred points each year. This was a hard pill to swallow.

He could have accepted the slow growth if he'd never experienced the fast increase. But now, with his progress stalling, Raymond had no choice but to endure.

For the sake of his team, Raymond would have to push through.
