Chapter 20: Order of Merlin: First Class

Hermione held the newspaper tightly as she read everything that was said about the big news: Harry Potter had not only discovered the truths about the mysterious magical core. He disproved any theory and presented everyone with the truth.

Spiritual energy... an energy contained in the skull of a wizard, being part of a connection with the soul, body and environment to cause phenomena that we call magic. Everything was backed by the ICW, one of the most influential groups in the wizarding world. Everything he said was true! Everything was backed and proven!

But not only that! Harry Potter had also discovered the cause of the werewolf mentality in their transformations and also a cure for the same transformation! Remus Lupin, who was a werewolf, was standing in the full moon, a demonstration of his cure at the time of the interview walking to the ministry of magic as evidence.

Harry explained more to people with doubts in his interviews, clarifying many things and surprising many with what he achieved at such a young age.

. . .

Harry knew that this would draw the attention of many and he would gain quite a reputation, but at the same time the expectations on him would rise even higher. For him it was not a problem now, he had many things that would help wizards around the world. His reasons for accepting Dumbledore's requests was that he would have more room to maneuver within the wizarding world, especially when the ICW gave him the opportunity for independence and emancipation at this age, so that he could give more results without having to be chained to the laws of a younger age and other things.

This gave him a much greater room to maneuver in his life! He could travel without impediments and see other places in the world, discover interesting things and a greater research opportunity for his already planned ideas.

Chakra, Sage Mode, Memory-Maker, Holy Magic... Harry didn't know if anyone would be able to defeat him in this world, but he knew that he would become stronger with time. Therefore, even if someone wanted to kill him or try to chain him, he could simply defeat them.

His goal was to improve this world, but he couldn't do that unless he defeated Voldemort. However, he had to let the Dark Lord cause a little fear so that people would stand on their own.

. . .

Hermione let out a big breath of air from her mouth. The whole news and the explanations were just wonderful. The article wasn't written by Rita Skitter, so it was very good. She couldn't believe what her now new friend had discovered. This was so revolutionary! She thought.

She raised her head slightly and saw how almost all of the students were looking at him from their tables in amazement, even the Slytherins were no exception. The Ravenclaws however, were the most curious and admiring, at the same time with some flashing their eyes in envy.

"Harry! This is just amazing! Wonderful!" she said smiling as she jumped in her seat.

"Thank you, Hermione," Harry smiled, a little proud of what he had done.

"It says here that you will give away 'Elixir', the cure for werewolves, is that true?" she asked as she looked at the paper again.

"Yes... I don't have to make money off of people who have suffered," Harry replied. "I will give the cures to Dumbledore and he will help deliver them to those who want to be cured."

Hermione smiled and nodded; she knew she hadn't done anything, but she couldn't help but feel proud and happy for her friend. He had achieved something simply wonderful and would be helping hundreds, if not thousands of people.

Harry was also happy, not only for his achievements, but also for the expressions that people like Dolores Umbridge put on at the time of his presentation and receiving the Order of Merlin. She couldn't lift a finger against him, with the Order of Merlin he was almost a hero to many and it would get her into serious trouble if she did something.

"You knew about this all this time?" Minerva asked reading the paper.

"Yes... he asked me for help finding more information," Dumbledore replied with a twinkle in his eyes.

Minerva smiled softly for the first time in a long time in front of many people. She knew that if James and Lily were alive, they would be immensely proud of their son.

The rest of the teachers were chatting about the same thing, the only one silent was Severus Snape. He was conflicted about the achievement of the son of his hated enemy and the friend he loved. He didn't like him doing this, the man thought it would make him even more arrogant; but his professional and potions master side could do nothing but cheer him on and have a little admiration for achieving something he had been trying for years.

. . .

"Hahahahaha!" Inside a dark house, a man was laughing loudly and full of happiness. He couldn't stop laughing and, in no time, he was crying from laughter, sadness and happiness. His laughter was so loud that the portrait of a woman couldn't scream in disgust at all the noise.

"Oh, James, Lily! It's a shame you can't be with Harry!" Sirius exclaimed before inhaling and looking with tears running down his eyes at the photo of Harry receiving the Order of Merlin.

"I just hope... that if there is a place after death, they are watching it fondly from wherever they are," Sirius murmured with nostalgia and sadness as he remembered his dearest friends. He had always been blaming himself for their deaths, but now that Harry had accomplished so much at his young age, his determination to keep him safe had increased even more. He would do anything to make Harry safe and sound, no matter what.

"The bad teacher has gone mad...", Kreacher muttered, bitter about being with Sirius.

. . .

Harry sighed a little as he sat in the library, a day had passed since the news came to light. He decided to continue his studies, but now reading books on arithmancy and runes; he didn't want to become an expert or anything, but he wanted to know at least the basics of these subjects, they could be useful and revealing. The problem was that there was a limit to what he could learn from books without more precise instructions from teachers, but he also didn't want to waste time in those classes when he could do other things to complete all the ideas in his head.

And at the same time, he was also thinking about the second task of the Triwizard Tournament, which wasn't too far away. The task would take place at the Black Lake and he would have to rescue someone, but he didn't know who this person could be. After all, the only person he could really care about within Hogwarts, would be Hermione. But, Viktor Krum might also have an interest in Hermione, so he didn't know who they could use to save him.

"Ah... it's so annoying when you don't know something," Harry groaned a little before closing the book he had at hand and stood up to put it back in its place on one of the many shelves of books.

. . .

"This really is very interesting," A man was sitting behind a desk as he read the diary. This was like the tenth time he read it, but he couldn't help it. Harry Potter's discoveries were simply sublime and had created a small light of hope for his family.

"Do you think... he'll help us?", in front of him, a woman stood with a complicated expression. While she was happy for what it could mean for her family, she didn't know if Harry Potter would really help them.

"We don't lose anything by asking and trying," the man answered with a little more seriousness.

The woman nodded with the same seriousness as her husband. They had to at least try.
