Chapter 19: Aether Unchained
The Enclave commander and the forgotten entity where clashing .
Celeste dodged a falling pillar that came crashing down, rolling to her feet just in time to see the commander vanish in a flash of golden Aether, reappearing behind the creature and slashing at its back.
The entity swung its clawed hand, and the shockwave alone sent the commander flying. He crashed into a wall , but he got back up.
Celeste's mind raced.
She couldn't win in a direct fight against something this powerful. The commander was barely keeping up.
She closed her eyes feeling the currents of Aether all around her. The energy was unstable and ancient. It was not just ordinary Aether—it was something else. The remnants of a power that predated even the Pantheon.
And she could feel it.
A plan formed in her mind.
Celeste took a deep breath, then raised both hands, shaping the Aether around her. But instead of using it like she normally would, she did something different.
She unraveled it.
The air shimmered, the threads of reality itself loosening in response.
The forgotten entity froze.
For the first time, it turned its full attention to Celeste.
"What are you doing?"
The commander noticed, too. His golden eyes narrowed, and his grip on his weapon tightened. "That's—"
Before he could finish, Celeste twisted the Aether further.
The flow of power that had been buried for centuries exploded outward, The moment Celeste touched it, she understood—this wasn't just Aether.
This was something older.
The entity staggered, its form , unstable. It let out a roar, but its body was disintegrating at the edges,
The commander cursed, stepping back.
The cavern's collapse accelerated.
Celeste didn't hesitate. She pushed the power outward, directing it toward the ceiling.
A single, massive rupture formed in the rock—an opening to the surface.
She had one shot.
Without a second thought, Celeste propelled herself upward,
She shot through the air, sky and moonlight rushing toward her.
The last thing she saw before leaving the depths behind was the commander vanishing in a golden flash… and the entity collapsing into the abyss.
And then she was soaring.
She had escaped.
But something told her… this was only the beginning.
