Chapter 49: This Is What You Asked For
Chapter 49: This Is What You Asked For
The meeting concluded, and the eight disciples under Luo Jiuyan “enthusiastically” signed up for the disciple competition.
Especially Ye Shu, who received endless praise from Luo Jiuyan.
But he also endured the cold glares from his Senior Sisters.
Ye Shu felt as if needles were pricking his back.
As soon as the meeting ended, he fled as fast as he could, hoping to slip away before they could corner him and vent their fury.
“Damn it! He got away!”
“It’s fine! He can’t hide forever! Soon, during the disciple selection, he’ll be ours to crush!”
“At that time, we’ll go all out to teach him a lesson!”
Watching Ye Shu’s retreating figure, the Senior Sisters were filled with righteous indignation.
They weren’t even this united when facing disciples from other sects.
Only the eldest Senior Sister, Nie Qing, and Senior Sister Bai Rourou had strange expressions, tinged with worry.
This situation didn’t bode well for Junior Brother!
After escaping down the mountain, Ye Shu rushed straight home, his heart pounding the entire way, fearing that the nearly deranged Senior Sisters might be following him.
“Whew~”
He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, feeling terrified. If it weren’t for the fact that they were within the sect, he might have already lost his life.
“I need to get stronger!”
Ye Shu’s voice was filled with unprecedented determination.
Although he had reached the Golden Core stage at the young age of eighteen, achieving what others might never accomplish in a lifetime, the road ahead was long and fraught with danger.
In half a month, during the disciple selection, he would not only face disciples from his own sect but also geniuses from other sects. The challenge would be immense.
If he didn’t improve his strength now and ended up losing during the competition, not only would he miss out on the rewards, but he would also face countless doubts. Explaining himself to Luo Jiuyan would be even more difficult.
Having thought this through, Ye Shu began to set his cultivation goals.
He didn’t expect to reach Golden Core in one day or Nascent Soul in two—that would be an absurdly overpowered life. But at the very least, he needed to advance one minor realm within half a month to increase his strength.
There were many ways to improve one’s cultivation level. The most straightforward method was to use rare treasures and resources. Even a pig could become a demon king with enough resources.
His current wealth wasn’t substantial, but he could ask Luo Jiuyan for help. She probably wouldn’t refuse.
But that would be relying on her!
How could he do that?
“Fine! Let’s go back and ask her!” he decided, reasoning that a little shamelessness now beat disgrace later.
With this shameless thought in mind, Ye Shu turned back.
“Junior Brother Ye, where are you going?”
Before he had gone far, he encountered a graceful figure in white, greeting him.
Looking up, he saw a familiar, beautiful face.
“Senior Sister Bai, I… I’m just wandering around aimlessly.”
Ye Shu hesitated, not daring to say he was going back to ask for some “soft rice”.
“Wandering? Junior Brother Ye, you really have too much free time!”
Bai Rourou rolled her eyes at him. How could he waste time wandering when they all needed to sharpen their skills for the competition? Maybe a spar would jolt some sense into him.
Seeing his nonchalant demeanor, she suddenly had an idea. “Junior Brother Ye, since you don’t have anything to do, how about we spar and exchange some pointers?”
“Huh? Again!”
Ye Shu perked up, remembering how she had relentlessly beaten him before.
“This is different. It’s just a friendly spar. After all, your strength surpasses mine.”
Bai Rourou thought back to the past and shook her head, a hint of sadness in her beautiful eyes.
As a Senior Sister, she was exceptionally talented, one of the top geniuses in Heavenly Fiend Sect. Yet, this Junior Brother, younger than her, had a higher cultivation level and was completely unharmed in their previous fights.
She had come to terms with reality.
This time, it was truly just an exchange of pointers. She even had many questions she wanted to ask Ye Shu.
“Alright, since Senior Sister Bai has requested it, how can I, as your Junior Brother, refuse?”
Seeing the sincerity in Bai Rourou’s eyes, Ye Shu nodded and agreed.
Asking for resources could wait. Sparring with Bai Rourou wouldn’t take much time.
Who knows? He might even gain some insights during the fight.
After all, breakthroughs often came during intense battles. This was common knowledge among cultivators.
“Great! Thank you, Junior Brother!”
Bai Rourou expressed her gratitude, then her cheeks flushed as if she had thought of something.
“You’re welcome, Senior Sister Bai. Feel free to make your move.”
Ye Shu returned the courtesy, stepping back several paces and assuming a stance. He waved his hand, signaling that they could begin.
“Okay! I won’t hold back!”
Bai Rourou knew Ye Shu’s strength well. If she held back, she would only be at a disadvantage.
With that, she moved, her figure shooting forward like an arrow released from a bow, heading straight for Ye Shu.
Just as she was about to strike Ye Shu’s chest with her palm, Ye Shu smiled, flaring his arms out wide. His hands clamped down, firmly grasping Bai Rourou’s smooth, jade-like hands, and with a strong pull, her body followed.
“I…”
Before Bai Rourou could react, she was pulled into his embrace, unable to move.
Looking up, she saw a flawless, handsome face above her.
Their current position was quite awkward.
She was tightly held in his arms, unable to break free.
“I’m this weak?!” Her thoughts weren’t about how uncomfortable the position was, but rather about how she, at the peak of the Foundation Establishment stage, could be so easily subdued by Ye Shu.
She couldn’t accept it!
“Quick! You have to hit me!”
Her beautiful eyes flashed with determination as she shouted at Ye Shu.
“Huh?”
Ye Shu had been planning to release her and continue the fight.
But hearing this, he couldn’t stay calm.
“Senior Sister Bai, you’re asking me to hit you? What do you mean?” he asked, confused.
Bai Rourou explained, “If you don’t hit me, and we keep fighting so softly, how will I learn and grow stronger? Don’t you understand?”
“Oh, I see!”
Ye Shu finally understood.
It wasn’t some kind of masochistic tendency, but a desire to learn through hardship.
That made sense.
Ye Shu raised his hand, but hesitated. After all, this was his Senior Sister. They would be living together for a long time. If he injured her, explaining it to Master Luo Jiuyan would be difficult.
“Got it!”
His gaze shifted downward, and his eyes lit up.
He noticed a well-rounded curve and swallowed hard.
“Hitting here would be less painful!”
Based on his, ahem, well-tested experience, a good spank stung less than a punch elsewhere and rarely left lasting harm.
With that, he steeled himself for the inevitable fallout.
“I told you to hit me, but why are you staring at that spot?”
Bai Rourou suddenly realized that Ye Shu’s gaze was a bit strange, fixed on that particular area. His eyes looked so wicked.
“Senior Sister Bai, I’m sorry!”
Ye Shu’s expression turned excited as he raised his hand and swung it down hard!
“Ah!!!”
A heart-wrenching, utterly humiliating scream echoed…
