Chapter 77: Is This Really Appropriate?
Chapter 77: Is This Really Appropriate?
“Send me to seduce him, huh?” Hu Qiner sneered.
With the sect’s strict rules in place, and especially at a time like this, attempting such a thing was akin to walking straight into the line of fire.
“After this disciple tournament, I’ll need to find the right opportunity. Otherwise, I won’t be able to face my adoptive mother,” Hu Qiner thought to herself.
Moreover, she had recently received some valuable intelligence—a plan to counter the Demon Prince of the Heavenly Fiend Sect!
He still had an unmarried fiancée in the mortal world!
If she could exploit this angle, it would surely yield tremendous results!
…
Two days later.
The disciple tournament officially began!
Ye Shu woke up early. His Succubus Demon maid, Xiaomei, had prepared a pot of his favorite sweet shrimp porridge for him.
“Master, your porridge is ready,” she said gently as she respectfully placed the bowl before him. Her tone was soft, her gaze warm—like that of a devoted little maid.
After days of effort, she had adapted well to Ye Shu’s preferences while also working to adjust her ghostly perspective on humans. She was now fully committed to taking care of him, hoping he would finally see her in a better light.
“Master, what do you think?” Xiaomei asked hopefully.
Seeing the pride on her face, Ye Shu almost considered praising her but quickly suppressed the urge, replying indifferently, “It’s alright.”
“Alright?”
At those words, Xiaomei’s soul trembled slightly—though she didn’t have a physical heart, the disappointment was palpable.
Her eyes betrayed her letdown, but she didn’t give up. To her, “alright” was equivalent to high praise—it was the best compliment she’d received in recent days!
“Master, I’ll work even harder to make sure you’re satisfied!” Xiaomei said earnestly, her lips pressed together in determination.
Ye Shu was used to her behavior by now. After finishing his meal and wiping his mouth, he picked up his sword and walked out.
Today was the disciple tournament, and the area was bustling with activity. Disciples were gathered everywhere, discussing the event.
“I’ve finally been waiting for this day—it’s my chance to make a name for myself!”
“Hmph, or it could be the moment you fall from grace!”
“No matter what, I’ll make everyone see me in a new light—especially my beloved Meimei.”
“I hope so, but I heard the exchange students are participating this time too. The difficulty just skyrocketed!”
“That’s bad news. Those ruthless bastards will definitely play dirty!”
“Damn it, we’re doomed!”
Ye Shu walked among them, unfazed.
Naturally, his appearance immediately drew attention, and the crowd buzzed with excitement.
They discussed how he had brutally beaten Wang Man, the disciple from Ghost Mountain Sect, just two days ago. The sight had been nothing short of devastating.
Ye Shu paid no heed to their chatter. It was all deserved.
“Demon Prince, may I walk with you?”
As Ye Shu made his way to the tournament grounds, a light, ethereal voice called out.
Turning around, he saw a beautiful girl dressed in white, exuding an aura of purity. She looked up at him shyly, clutching the hem of her dress like a blossoming flower.
“Sister Bai, there’s no need to be so formal. We’re not strangers anymore,” Ye Shu said with a smile, opening his arms in invitation for her to join him.
This was none other than his senior sister, Bai Rourou. He remembered how she had stopped calling him Junior Brother and instead addressed him as Demon Prince. Clearly, she had fully accepted him now.
“Very well, Demon Prince,” Bai Rourou replied bashfully, nodding before gently stepping beside him.
As they walked, she occasionally glanced up at him, studying his features closely.
“Sister Bai, is something on my face?” Ye Shu asked curiously, touching his cheek.
At his question, Bai Rourou’s face flushed an even deeper shade of red. She quickly averted her gaze, muttering, “No, nothing at all.”
Her hands clasped tightly over her chest, her heart pounding wildly as if a small deer were ramming against her ribcage.
What was going on?
Why did she feel so flustered whenever she saw this man?
Especially this guy! Back when he had confessed to her, she had been so furious she wanted to stab him.
But after not seeing him for over ten days, her feelings had shifted to concern—and even anticipation. Now that she was finally face-to-face with him again, she couldn’t help but feel confused and disoriented.
Why was this happening?!
Bai Rourou cried out silently in her heart.
She stamped her foot lightly in frustration.
“Sister Bai, is something wrong? Did a bug crawl onto you?” Ye Shu stopped walking, looking at her quizzically, unable to understand what she was doing.
“No, of course not!”
Bai Rourou pouted softly before walking ahead of him. “I was just thinking about the fierce opponents at the disciple tournament. I’m a bit worried, that’s all.”
She certainly wasn’t going to tell Ye Shu that she was feeling flustered because of him.
“Yes, there are many strong opponents. Sister Bai, has your cultivation improved during this time?” Ye Shu asked casually.
“Improved?”
At the mention of that word, Bai Rourou’s body trembled slightly.
She recalled the mortifying way she had broken through to the Golden Core stage—Ye Shu spanking her repeatedly. The memory still made her cringe.
His casual question brought it all rushing back, and she clutched her head in anguish.
“I had finally managed to forget about it, and you just had to bring it up!” Bai Rourou groaned.
“It’s alright, Senior Sister. That was all my fault. But don’t worry—I’ll do my best at the disciple tournament to uphold the honor of our sect,” Ye Shu said soothingly.
Hearing his words, Bai Rourou looked up at him, taking in his handsome and extraordinary features.
She couldn’t believe how much time had flown by. That little boy from before had grown into such a strikingly heroic figure.
Not only that, but his strength had soared. Just recently, after their journey to the Slaughter Tower, he had broken through to the Nascent Soul stage. Meanwhile, even as his senior sister, she had only managed to reach the Golden Core stage with his help—a full realm behind him.
She was far outpaced.
“To think that I can no longer look down on him from above. Instead, I have to crane my neck to look up at him. I wonder if this is a good or bad thing,” Bai Rourou reflected silently.
The world was ever-changing. A mighty emperor who ruled supreme one moment could see his dynasty collapse the next due to a single misstep. In such a volatile world, the most important thing was to adapt—to get used to change.
Only by embracing today’s transformations could one hope to retain their standing in tomorrow’s unpredictable world.
“Junior Brother Ye, you’re here? Come over quickly!”
Just as she was lost in thought, a voice rang out.
Both Ye Shu and Bai Rourou turned to see a slender woman in blue waving at them. Beside her stood another voluptuous woman in red, her gaze complex as she stared at Ye Shu.
The two women were none other than Senior Sister Lan Caidie and Elder Sister Nie Qing.
They had “coincidentally” been on the same path and “happened” to encounter Ye Shu and Bai Rourou.
Ye Shu glanced at Bai Rourou beside him, then turned to look at the two senior sisters.
“Is this really appropriate?”
