In another area of the hospital, Shinho and Mamu stood outside a hospital door. It was a door to a 4-bed ward and, among these beds, there was… Jane Yu.

Mamu's eyes were red and puffed up. He hadn't stopped crying since the war, and he had gathered all his courage to go here. However, he was at a loss of what to do. He was plagued by guilt and became extremely depressed. Mamu had no family—he literally just tagged along Shinho's party—and it made people worry about him more.

Fortunately, Shinho saw this and understood his state, proposing to go to the hospital with him.

Although they had no idea how Jane was going to react, it was best for the child being consumed by guilt to see her and hear it for himself.

He had known Jane through Koo. He would often take them to his house, and she'd make them delicious snacks. She was so kind and gentle, and he knew just how broken she'd be at the loss of her son.

Even if she blamed him, that was understandable. At least Mamu had a direction in which he could go to—to make up to her, one way or another.

Mamu knew this and he agreed. He just wanted to know what to do, and he was willing to do anything to make it up to Koo.

Mamu's heart clenched whenever he remembered what happened. Koo had rescued him from the aborigine attacker. However, even if Koo was strong for his level, he was still at a disadvantage against the stronger man.

Fortunately, Alterra always had a strategy and Koo quickly merged with his team to deal with the enemies. Mamu also fought with them with his continuous and surprisingly accurate shots.

To be fair, Mamu's shots were really good and, while it didn't hurt much, they were effective distractions, helping the adults make safer kills. After all, who would feel comfortable with their eyes being hit every so often? Some even bled, even if no one was blinded.

It also inevitably added a target on his head.

The enemy abruptly turned and, without warning, jumped up to the balcony where Mamu was. This enemy had been distracted by him twice and was one of the reasons he received deadly wounds on his body from Koo and the others.

He was very weak and at his last breath, but his strength was more than enough to handle him, especially when he was going berserk!

"MAMU!" Koo yelled, dashing toward them.

He had awakened the stable earth element. Although it was still weak, it was enough to bolt him up to grab the balcony.

A short, but deadly, battle occurred on that balcony a moment later, and ultimately two lives were lost.

Shinho sighed and patted Mamu's head as he started crying again.

"It's… not your fault," he said. "You helped us a lot and you only wanted to contribute. Koo doesn't blame you—no one does."

"So… raise your head, okay?" he said. "You also saved a lot of people from danger. You can take pride in that."

However… before they could enter the ward, a few nurses rushed along the corridor and entered the room in haste. They were in such a rush that Shinho and Mamu were almost shoved aside.

Shinho and Mamu were shocked, and they gaped when the nurses surrounded one of the beds, with the doctor immediately performing some emergency treatment on the woman laying lifelessly on the bed.

They could only get a glimpse, but their hearts turned cold when they realized whose bed it was.

"HURRY!" the doctor screamed at the nurses, ordering them to bring her some medicine. "SHE'S DYING!!!"

At this time, Jane Yu was having a blissful dream.

She was back in Terran and had just gotten home from a long day of work. She felt a bit of body pain, and massaged her shoulders to ease the tension a bit. However, she had a smile on her face, excited to see her babies.

She was a widow who had two jobs to support her two kids. Her day job was a janitress in a nice office building. She could even ask for some office supplies she could then give her kids.

Her other job was a masseuse in a reputable spa. It was also great, she could keep some oils to help with her own body pain. Her children were also doing sports now, so she reckoned they'd need it soon, too.

Anyway, it was not easy going through day to day, but she would happily do it for the rest of her life for her children.

After arranging her hair, she entered their small run-down unit. It was a single small room with an open plan where they could do all the domestic functions in. They just had to move the mattress around to turn it into a living room, and they'd just have to put down a low dining table during meal time.

She opened the door and immediately saw the children, two young boys in elementary school. At this time, there was a table (their dining table) and the children were doing their homework together. George was patiently teaching his younger brother some basic addition. He had to do it repeatedly though, but he wasn't showing much impatience at all.

They were studying very hard and they didn't even hear her come in, and she happily watched them from the side. She didn't even move from the threshold. She was afraid of disturbing them, and she also wanted to just look at them for a while longer.

At the same time, she looked at the state of the house. Even with their many homework assignments, the house was proper and clean, and all the chores were done before she got home.

Her heart flowed with warmth at the sight of them, and her heart was both proud and pained that they were such good kids.

They never gave her trouble, but sometimes… she wished she gave them enough so they could act spoiled. She felt so incompetent as a parent, but so, so lucky that the heavens blessed her two kind souls.

Sigh

How could she be so blessed?
