Rian would also be celebrating with family after this. This would be a double celebration, because Rasso had officially graduated from his probationary status that week.

Like Sheldon, Rian had the rest of the day off after the fight, though he chose to stay and watch the others this time. He wanted to see the progress of his classmates.

There were many different people in Alterra, and there were many different tweens. One such kid was Percy, Jake's young cousin.

Like Sheldon, he was not much of a fighter. In fact, he was quite a bit spoiled when he first got here. He even took for granted that Jake would be giving him whatever he wanted.

For example, Jake rented a studio unit for him, and gave him some food allowance (which to him was lacking), and Jake even paid for his tuition fee.

However, Percy did not want to go to school. Typical of young boys, he just wanted to play around, sleep, and eat.

They were in a different continent, why would there still be a school!?

But how could Jake actually raise a useless parasite!?

So, sad for him, Jake made his school performance a condition if he wanted to stay in the house or get an allowance, causing a lot of grumbling.

Percy had always gotten what he wanted from his parents. They were well-off and they gave him everything materialistic because they were busy with their own lovers.

When the disaster happened, they were not even there, but he knew the passwords to their safe, so he was really well-off. After the disaster, he bought everything he needed and just relaxed in that home even if it sucked.

The outside world was too scary, after all, and in retrospect, it was how he kept safe the whole time.

But then the territory he was in fell, and that was all gone.

Then, he found Jake a few days after that, so he didn't suffer for long at all! Nothing had gone majorly wrong for him so far, so he didn't believe it'd happen.

Anyway, he didn't believe Jake could bear let him go hungry so he persisted in doing whatever he wanted, believing his cousin would succumb and give way to him.

But then the next day he found himself kicked out of the unit, sleeping on the corridor!!

It was unimaginable and his brain couldn't wrap his head around it. At the time, there were many confused thoughts in his head.

Was Jake playing hard to get? That guy would really let him go hungry? Take away the roof over his head?! This was too much of a punishment!!

Then, when his cousin's woman, Yiyi, tried to calm him down, he ended up snapping at her.

"Shut it!" he yelled at her. He disliked her for a long time. "You're just an unclean woman without family, clinging to my cousin!"

That earned him an intense beat-up from Jake. At the time, Percy knew he was harsh, but he really didn't like Yiyi. In his mind, even until now, she was damaged. Jake was humbling himself by staying with her!

Later, he found out that Yiyi pleaded for him and asked to give him another chance. His cousin reluctantly agreed though his grade requirement spiked up.

Now, he had to get great grades if he wanted to have a decent allowance. Other than that, he'd only be able to buy the basics unless he took part-time jobs, which he didn't want to do.

Living in the orphanage would've been easier, actually, but he didn't want to be labelled as an orphan. He bullied them in the past, in Terran anyway, so he couldn't stomach becoming one of them!

From anyone's point of view, this was really troublesome, especially to Jake, who was stuck with him.

Jake could tell that this brat's mum had raised a damned little devil. Rather, she was too busy matching body count with her rich cheating husband that she forgot she had a kid. In that sense, the brat was also pitiful.

In any case, Percy was the only known relative that he had left; he definitely didn't want to give up on him—at least not without trying everything!

That said, he really wanted to intensify the punishment system, and his blood still boiled when he remembered what the brat said to Yiyi. But she was too kind-hearted, and she pushed for a reward system instead.

For example, if the brat got good grades in one subject, he should get a gift. If he managed to ace an exam, he should get another. If he helped out other people, he'd get compliments and maybe a few treats.

The gifts were small and wouldn't be heavy—probably worth a couple of silver at most—but they would encourage good behavior rather than encourage a rebellion or feed bitterness that was already festering in a darkening heart.

No child was born evil, she told him, but this one had to be guided a lot to take the right path.

So, now, although still annoying and punchable, Percy was fighting monsters now too.

"AHHHH!!!" he screamed, as he ran away from a level 1 monster. "THIS IS SO SCARY IRL."

"NOOO!" he screamed, waving around his sword, while shakily covering himself with his shield. He was definitely using the latter rather than the former, just covering himself with the shield while blindly stabbing in front of him.

He stabbed and stabbed, and then stabbed harder when he felt like he hit flesh. It just caused the monster to be even angrier, however. He could only move around his shield wherever the monster was, and then stabbing at where it was last attacking.

Sadly, at some point, he moved too slowly and it managed to take a bite.

"EEEEKKKK! HELP MEEE! I'LL AFK IF YOU DON'T!" he screamed, stabbing the monster while looking at the teachers' section.

Seeing that they were not making any moves, however, his brain died. "I GIVE UP!!" he yelled. "I'M SO OVER THISSS!!"

He turned his back on the monster and ran to the stage, not realizing the monster had jumped and was about to bite his neck!

Sammy sighed and took a swipe at the monster, pulling the kid up by the collar. He looked at the pitiful snotting mess in front of him, and his eyes twitched.

"You've got a loooong way to go."
