Chapter 70: V2 Chapter 17 Relaxing

"Things are going better than I thought..." I hummed, breathing in the seaside air.

It had been quite some time since I entered this world and a lot of stuff had happened overall, for the most part though I had been keeping my head down and laying low. Of course I myself hadn't really been doing much, without a human form it was difficult to move around freely, thankfully my human followers didn't have this problem, although they did complain about how primitive this world's technology was.

Anyway, for the most part we had been gathering various things from all over this world, things which my sanctuary lacked. As for how I afforded everything, well, that's quite simple, it turns out that hacking into the bank accounts of corrupt officials and other such assholes was easy when you had technology that was a thousand times more advanced than everyone else.

(I can leave the inspection of the final shipment for later, not like it'll be all that hard to break their chains.) I sighed outwardly.

I was currently enjoying the atmosphere as my tail hung lazily off of the beach chair I was laying on. "Still, we've basically already gotten everything we need from this world, at this point it's just a matter of completing the quests I have." I muttered to myself before waving my hand to bring up my missions and their descriptions.

{Main Mission: The Fall Of Chicago

Difficulty: Low

Description: A city destined to stand, to remain as a symbol to humanity's victory over the very twisted and tormented creatures that they created. Your mission is to shatter this destiny, burn and destroy, reduce Chicago to nothing more than broken rubble.

Notes: All that matters is the cities destruction, the people inside of it are free game, do whatever you see fit with them.

Reward: 980RP}

(If the Low difficulty involves the destruction of a city then what the hell does a Medium or High difficulty mission have you doing?) I grumbled internally before turning to the rest of them.

{Side Mission 1: Let There Be Monsters

Description: What?! There's only four monsters in this movie? And one of them just dies at the beginning without doing anything cool?! Well then, that just won't do, increase the number of mutated creatures that take part in the final battle of Chicago.

Notes: Your reward will depend on the number and variety of creatures created.

Reward: ???}

{Side Mission 2: The Dog And The Croc

Description: Noooo! The wolfie dies at the end? Save the doggo! I demand it! The doggo must be protected at all costs! Oh, and the crocodile as well I guess...

Notes: None.

Reward: 550RP}

{Side Mission 3: The Secrets Of The Energyne

Description: A CRISPR pathogen that turns animals into monsters, well, that sounds interesting, find out all information related to this and as well as any other secrets that Energyne could be hiding.

Notes: None.

Reward: 230RP}

{Side Mission 4: Larry The Space Rat

Description: Death by explosion is just so boring you know, kill or save Larry before he meets his rather bland demise.

Notes: None.

Reward: 410RP}

"I had previously been surprised that side missions don't have difficulty levels but had long since gotten over it." I muttered to myself.

Letting out a sigh I leaned back in my seat. "Completing all of the missions should be easy enough..." I mused before waving the screens away.

(I always did find the sea relaxing.) I thought, glancing towards the endless expanse of blue waves in front of me.

We had purchased this whole island I was currently on, mainly because I wanted some place private to run some tests but I also wanted to let my followers, most of whom had never seen the sea, to finally see this beautiful sight. Of course I had other motives as well but seeing the smiles on their faces was, well, it wasn't unpleasant to say the least.

(I really should grow the size of my Sanctuary when I get back so I can make a place like this...) I thought as my clawed hand scratched against the smooth head of Alpha, the xenomorph in question had been slightly curled up around my beach chair for awhile now.

"Huh?" My relaxation was somewhat interrupted as another screen suddenly appeared in front of me as a loud ringing sound came from it. "Oh, guess they're calling again today." I chuckled before waving my hand through the screen.

Almost immediately afterwards another holographic screen appeared before me, this one was divided into force sections, each of them displaying the familiar faces of some friends of mine. Honestly I was thankful for the call function in the system, in fact at this point I didn't even bother questioning how it could contact people between universes.

"What's up guys?" I hummed, instantly getting replies from all of them.

The first to speak was Iris. "Salut Carmen, tu vas bien?"

"Brain brain, brain!" (OωO)

"A-are you...are you okay?" Sapphire muttered, sounding as quiet and shy as ever.

"I hope everything has been going smoothly for you my friend." Gringus greeted as he adjusted the tie of his suit, his many eyes hovering around his head.

"I'm fine, no need to worry." I smiled softly at their concern.

Honestly they had been calling me every now and then ever since I set off on this little adventure of mine. (It's nice to have people worry about you.)

"Anyway, what's up, has anything happened since the last time you called me."

"Brain brain brain, brain, brain brain." \(^0^)/

"You really need to get some kind of translation Gift you undead buffoon." Gringus grumbled in annoyance.

"Brain!" (> 3 >)

Iris sighed as the two quickly started bickering, she then turned back to me and began to explain. "Lucius went and got started on his first expedition not too long ago, also Brain should be headed out soon as well apparently."

"Gotcha." I said before asking. "What about the rest of you?"

"I'm still thinking about where to go exactly." Iris admitted with a shrug.

"As for Gringus..." She muttered as she turned to him, unfortunately he was still arguing with Brain. "You'll have to ask him later I guess."

Finally I glanced at Sapphire who shifted uncomfortably. "I'm...I'm not ready yet..."

"That's okay, no need to rush yourself." Iris said with a smile

I nodded at that before adding. "Right, although if you don't feel confident going alone you could always team up with one or more people and go together."

"Oh yeah, I remember you saying something like that when we asked you about the different types of expeditions you could go on." I had explained it all to them after they called me around the time I first arrived in this world.

"Does that sound more appealing?" I asked.

"I don't know...I'll...I'll think about it."

"Just take your time then." Iris sighed, trying her best to be supportive.

"T-thanks..."

A bit of time passes after that as we continue to chat about various things, I tried my best to conceal the fact that I'd probably have to burn down an entire city very soon. Actually it was around this time that Gringus and Brain finally stopped with their argument long enough to join back in with the conversation, well, I call it an "argument" but it was mostly just Brain teasing an annoyed Gringus from what I could tell.

"So yeah, some of our Mentors are apparently planning a trip for us or something." Iris shrugged.

"I...I wonder where they'll b-be taking us e-exactly..." Sapphire nervously said, however she also had some genuine curiosity in her voice.

(Will I make it back for that? Well, whatever, guess all I can do is wait and see for now.) I thought to myself only for a certain zombie to chime in.

"Brain brain, brain brain brain, brain~" (♡﹃ ♡)

"You truly do have no class, a real gentleman would never give such a barbaric suggestion." Gringus huffed.

Before I could even ask what Brain had said I felt a connection, someone was trying to communicate with me through the hive mind. "Hmmm...?"

<> Rosanna spoke up from the other end.

<> I already had an idea as to why exactly she was getting into contact with me but decided to just go ahead and ask anyway.

<> She explained, causing me to nod to myself.

"Is something wrong?" Iris asked with a tilt of her gaseous head.

"I gotta go, something has suddenly come up." I explained, not that they seemed all that bothered.

"That's fine, see you later."

"O-okay...bye..."

"Brain brain!" (◕ヮ◕)/``

"Farewell for now my friend."

I give them a smile before ending the call. (Welp time to get going.)

(A/N. Just thought I'd say that there might not be a chapter next week as I've been having a few flare ups recently, figured you'd want a heads up just in case.)

Next chapter will be updated first on this website. Come back and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
