Chapter 8: The Bloody Path

He quickly realized he still had the flashlight tucked into his pocket. He fumbled for it and switched it on, casting a narrow beam of light into the pitch-black darkness. The light cut through the inky blackness but revealed nothing but darkness.

Dabi: "This way, Overhaul."

His voice was calm and steady, a soothing anchor in the disorienting darkness. He gently tugged Overhaul along, keeping the flashlight beam fixed forward as they began to move slowly through the unknown.

Overhaul nodded silently, his hand instinctively reaching out to grasp Dabi's shirt lightly as they began to move forward together. The flashlight beam bobbed uncertainly ahead of them, illuminating only a few feet of the path at a time. Overhaul's heart raced, each step feeling heavier than the last.

Dabi: "You're not scared, are you?"

He asked softly, keeping his eyes ahead while maintaining a steady pace with Overhaul by his side. His tone was gentle yet firm, trying to gauge Overhaul's state without adding unnecessary pressure.

Overhaul: "No..."

He lied softly, his hand tightening around Dabi's arm unintentionally. He was terrified of the dark and his mind was already playing tricks on him, making him see shadows move when there was nothing there. He swallowed hard.

Overhaul: "You?"

His voice was barely above a whisper.

Dabi: "Of course I'm terrified."

He admitted, his voice low and gruff.

Dabi: "I have no fucking clue what's happening."

He kept walking steadily through the darkness, trying to project more confidence than he felt as he guided Overhaul along beside him.

Overhaul: "At least you admit you're scared."

He muttered softly, his eyes twitching slightly as he fought off his encroaching hallucinations. He saw things moving in his peripheral vision, hear whispers that weren't there. He swallowed hard, hoping Dabi wouldn't notice his increasing anxiety.

Overhaul's vision started to distort at the edges again, colors bleeding into each other strangely. He saw Dabi walk beside him, but then suddenly there were two Dabis walking side by side. He blinked hard, trying to dispel the hallucination but it only got worse.

Dabi: "Hey..."

His voice was gentle, reassuring. He kept Overhaul close, one arm wrapped protectively around his waist as they navigated the darkness. He could feel Overhaul's body tensing up, his breathing growing shallow.

Dabi: "You're okay."

He repeated softly.

Dabi: "I've got you."

(In his mind).

"I need to get his medicine."

His brow furrowing with concern. Overhaul was growing more agitated by the second. Dabi made a mental note to find Overhaul's medication as soon as possible. He knew that without it, Overhaul would likely have a severe episode - hallucinations could turn violent or paranoid very quickly without proper treatment.

(Out of his mind).

Dabi: "You know what? Forget Shigaraki and the others for now."

He said, his voice firm with newfound determination as he looked at Overhaul.

Dabi: "Let's go find your medicine. You need it more than we need to chase after them right this second."

Overhaul: "But you just said we needed to find them first..."

He countered, his voice strained as he struggled with his growing anxiety.

Dabi: "I know what I said."

He snapped slightly, his patience wearing thin.

Dabi: "But right now, your meds are more important. If you have an episode out here in the dark, who knows what could happen? We'll find the others later. Right now, you need your medicine."

Overhaul: "You probably see me as a burden..."

He muttered, his voice heavy with self-doubt and frustration. He looked away from Dabi, not wanting to see any confirmation.

Dabi: "No, I don't!"

He snapped, his voice echoing in the darkness as he turned Overhaul to face him.

Dabi: "I never said that! You're not a burden!

Overhaul: "Let's just keep going."

He said, his voice quiet and defeated as he pulled away from Dabi's grasp. He started walking again, his footsteps heavy with a mix of anger, frustration, and fear. He didn't want Dabi to see him like this, vulnerable and unstable.

Without hesitation, Dabi immediately grabs Overhaul's arm and pulls him close, leading the way with his flashlight slicing through the darkness. After what felt like an eternity, they finally emerge from the house to find themselves outside, the night surrounding them in an inky blackness.

Dabi: "What the fuck is going on? How did we end up here?"

He demanded, his voice low and urgent as he shone the flashlight around wildly, trying to get his bearings in the unfamiliar darkness. Overhaul stood silently beside him, his breathing heavy and irregular. The house was nowhere to be seen.

Overhaul: "The house is gone."

He realized numbly.

Overhaul: "Which means my medicine is gone..."

He froze suddenly, his eyes widening.

Overhaul: "Wait. So Lady Nagant, Chrono, and the others..."

He trailed off, his voice dropping to almost a whisper.

Overhaul: "Are they gone too?"

His mind began to spin, the reality of the situation feeling more and more like a twisted hallucination. He gasped for breath, his chest heaving as panic threatened to overwhelm him.

Overhaul: "This... This can't be real..."

He stammered, his voice shaking.

Dabi: "Calm down."

He snapped sharply, watching Overhaul's breathing grow more and more erratic. He knew those signs all too well - Overhaul was on the verge of a full-blown panic attack.

Dabi: "Jesus."

He muttered softly, pulling Overhaul close by the collar.

Dabi: "Breathe."

Overhaul: "I'm trying to fucking calm down!"

He snapped back, his voice breaking slightly as he pushed Dabi away roughly. His hands were shaking violently and his vision was starting to tunnel. The lack of his medication was hitting him hard, his quirk becoming unstable and painful.

Overhaul: "Just leave me alone..."

Dabi rolled his eyes, clearly fed up with Overhaul's outburst despite understanding his condition. Without warning, he grabbed Overhaul by the arm and dragged him along forcefully, ignoring Overhaul's protests. His flashlight beam swept the darkness as he searched desperately for any sign of their missing friends.

(At the Forest).

Shigaraki awoke to find himself in a dense forest, along with a few others his friends. As he looked around, confusion and disbelief washed over him. He knew what had just happened, even though it defied all explanation.

Toga: "Shigaraki, you're awake!"

She exclaimed, her voice laced with genuine happiness. Deep down, however, she harbored guilt, knowing that she was likely responsible for whatever situation they now found themselves in.

Shigaraki: "I fucking hope you're happy now!"

He snapped angrily.

Shigaraki: "We're stuck in this godforsaken situation because you just had to push Overhaul down there for some fucking 'fun' time!"

His words were sharp and accusatory, dripping with frustration and blame directed solely at Toga.

Toga: "I didn't think this would happen!"

She retorted defensively.

Toga: "How was I supposed to know we'd end up like this!"

Lady Nagant: "Enough, you two!"

She interrupted, casting stern glances at both Shigaraki and Toga.

Lady Nagant: "We need to find Overhaul and Dabi."

Her voice was firm, cutting through their argument with authority.

Shigaraki: "She's right."

He agreed, his anger subsiding slightly as he focused on the task at hand.

Shigaraki: "We need to find them both - and quickly."

His tone became more determined, signaling his preparedness to put their argument aside for now.

As they began to move forward, they noticed that the forest floor was marked with numerous paths leading in different directions. The paths were stained with blood, dripping and forming trails into the unknown depths of the forest.

There was a note on the ground that read, "Pick one."

Shigaraki: "Pick one?"

He muttered to himself, his brows furrowing as he looked at the note. He glanced up at the paths stretching out before them, each seemingly leading to an unknown fate.

Shigaraki: "I have a feeling this path will lead us to Overhaul and Dabi."

He said, his instincts telling him the middle path was the correct choice. Without hesitation, he began walking down it, the others following close behind. The bloody trail seemed to grow fresher as they pressed on.

(At the Darkness).

Dabi's steps faltered as he came to a halt, his flashlight illuminating a chilling scene before them. Multiple paths stretched out in different directions, each one marked with ominous smears of blood. Overhaul's eyes widened in horror, his panic surging to new heights. .

Overhaul: "Dabi...

His eyes rolled back as he doubled over, heaving violently. Black, inky liquid spilled from his mouth, staining the ground a sickly hue. He trembled uncontrollably, his fear morphing into a primal terror that left him completely paralyzed.

Dabi's shock quickly turned to genuine concern as he knelt down beside Overhaul, ignoring the grotesque scene before him. His hand hesitantly reached out to touch Overhaul's trembling shoulder.

Dabi: "Hey, hey... Look at me."

He commanded sharply, trying to snap Overhaul out of his terrified state.

Overhaul: "I... I don't know what's happening to me."

He gasped, his voice barely above a whisper as tears welled up in his eyes. His body shook violently, and he looked at Dabi with a mix of fear and confusion.

Dabi: "Easy now."

He murmured, gently helping Overhaul to his feet and supporting his weight.

Dabi: "You're probably just experiencing some nasty side effects from those pills you've been taking."

Overhaul: "You're probably right..."

Dabi: "Come on."

He said firmly but gently, guiding Overhaul along the path with one arm wrapped around his waist for support. The black liquid continued to leak from Overhaul's mouth occasionally, but Dabi ignored it, focusing instead on keeping him upright and moving forward.

Dabi chose the middle path, following the bloody trail with determination despite the uncertainty of where it led. He kept Overhaul steady, his arm around his waist providing both support and a sense of security. The darkness seemed to press in around them, but he refused to let fear take hold.
