Alice's significance didn't lie in herself, but because she had a half-brother, Theodore Roosevelt Jr., who was currently serving as the Assistant Secretary of the Navy!

He was also the eldest son of President Theodore Roosevelt!

Alice's mother, Alice Hathaway, was Theodore Roosevelt's second wife, whom he married after divorcing his first wife, Edith Roosevelt. However, Alice Hathaway died in childbirth when Alice was born.

Consequently, Alice and her mother were born and died on the same day.

After Alice Hathaway's death, Theodore Roosevelt remarried Edith Roosevelt.

(In reality, Alice Hathaway was Roosevelt's first wife, and Edith was his second, but for the sake of the plot, it has been adapted this way!)

Though Alice wasn't born to Edith, Edith was very fond of Alice. When Theodore Roosevelt was alive, there were several instances when Alice argued with her father, and it was Edith who mediated between them.

Theodore Jr. was also very fond of Alice!

So, when Alice saw Theodore Jr. in Atlantic City, she was first greatly surprised, then joyfully threw herself into his arms.

"Theo, how come you're here?"

Theo was a nickname for Theodore Jr. used by those who knew him well.

Theo looked at Donnie standing behind Alice and smiled, "Of course, I was invited by Mr. Block!"

Alice turned back to look at Donnie with suspicion, then suddenly said fiercely, "You wouldn't be plotting against Theo now, would you?"

Donnie spread his hands and said with a helpless smile, "Do you really see me as someone who only knows how to scheme against people?"

"Pretty much!" Alice said proudly.

Donnie just laughed it off, not taking Alice's accusation to heart, and smiled as he approached Theodore Jr., extending his hand, "Mr. Roosevelt, welcome to Atlantic City!"

"I've been hearing a lot about the changes in Atlantic City lately, and after arriving today, I find that Atlantic City really is somewhat different from before!"

Theodore Jr. also reached out his hand, then said smiling.

After exchanging pleasantries, Donnie had a car ready for Theodore Jr., and on the way, as they passed the Surf Hotel under construction, Donnie joked,

"Perhaps when you, Mr. Roosevelt, come next time, you can stay here!"

Theodore Roosevelt Jr. laughed, "Maybe I'll even play a couple of games by then!"

Alice, sitting beside him, immediately said, "You don't need to gamble here. Otherwise, you'll end up like Reid Hajj, schemed against by Donnie!"

"Reid Hajj?" Theodore Roosevelt Jr. was briefly puzzled but then recalled a recent news story.

"Ha ha, so KDKA was defeated here!"

Donnie smiled indifferently, "If Reed Haggie hadn't had a weak point, he wouldn't have been schemed against!"

Theodore Roosevelt Jr. nodded in agreement, "Indeed, if a person has no weaknesses, they naturally don't have to worry about being outmaneuvered!"

After arranging a room at the Ritz Hotel for Theodore Jr., the three of them arrived at the room where he took off his scarf and cap, revealing ... a forehead as prominent as Xu Zhisheng.

"Donnie, let's talk about why you've invited me here. There's a lot of work to be done at the Navy, and I can't stay in Atlantic City for too long!"

"Theo, don't you miss me at all?"

On hearing that Theodore Jr. couldn't stay in Atlantic City for long, Alice immediately pouted. She knew that Donnie must have had a reason for inviting Theodore Jr. Alice dearly hoped that Theodore Jr. would assist Donnie with whatever he intended to do.

Theodore Roosevelt Jr. laughed heartily, "Of course, I miss you, but I do have a lot of commitments. And it must be a major issue that has led my dear friend here to personally invite me. With you here, I'll help with anything I can. But if it's something beyond my aid, it would be no use even if I stayed!"

At this point, Theodore Jr. teased them, "You two aren't thinking of getting married, are you? If so, no matter what I have to do, I'd stay for that!"

When Alice heard Theodore Jr.'s teasing, she blushed and then shot Donnie a glare, but ultimately said nothing.

At this moment, Donnie understood that Theodore Jr., although he seemed to dote on Alice, his affection had its limits.

After all, they did not share the same mother.

If it had been Theodore Jr.'s full sister, Ethel Roosevelt, there was no way Theodore Jr. would have agreed to Alice being with him.

For the same reasons that Helen's brother, Robert Taft, had.
